Wet Circuits waterproof power strip presented by all-time best dubbed videos
Can't say we're any keener on the idea of blasting our outlets with Super Soakers, but Wet Circuit's water resistant power strips boast its ability to withstand just such a defiant action -- occasional rain and snow, wet hands, temporary flooding, and accidental water spills (assuredly intentional, too). $35 is the asking price, and while the company claims you can put metallic objects in the socket without fear of electrocution, you probably shouldn't press your luck. Check out a plethora of demonstrations after the break -- no really, we beseech you. Crank the speakers for this one.

These guys invented it like 10 years ago - http://imgur.com/2gWeh.jpg
@keyrat I just go one of these myself. I'm trying it ou
The computer was still working ... BECAUSE IT WAS A FRIGGIN LAPTOP WITH ITS OWN BATTERY!
Jesus!
@keyrat : Now I need to go pee.
@loocas
She was obviously not hired for her intellect.
@livefree and not for her voice
We'll see what happens when I stick my metallic object into her wet socket.
@keyrat
That argument is getting real old. If everybody only used whatever was invented first, we would all be driving Ford Model Ts, and you would be reading this on a computer the size of your house.
@Jack hahaha did you even look at the picture?
@keyrat *comment that clearly shows I care more about proving a point and showing everyone how smart and logical I am then actually spending 3 seconds to click on a link and see that you're actually just making a joke*
Oh crap.. Too late.
@keyrat
lol now thats engineering at its lowest
@keyrat
I'd like to use her socket!!
I'd like to see her (power)strip.. SOLD!
Things this guy will not do: be the demo guy for this thing. 110v hurts!
@Mightydh Not nearly as much as 220v.
@Mightydh Voltage doesn't matter that much. It's all about the current
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Van_de_Graaff_generator is an example of high voltage without much pain
@Raymundo In US household wiring 220 lines carry atleast twice the amperage of a 110 line. My point still stands, but hey thanks for trying to act like you had a counter point.
21.1 Gigawatts?
@Emmett Brown 1.21
@Emmett Brown
I think you're starting to suffer from dementia there Dr. Brown. Don't you mean 1.21 Gigawatts?
@nanascho
fraud i'm a fraud *sobs into his keyboard, deletes Engadget account*
@Emmett Brown
You're all wrong. It's 1.21 JIGAwatts. Come on.
@Jakintosh actually, no. "jiga" is just an abnormal, but still correct, pronunciation of giga. what they said in the movie was a mispronunciation if anything.
@maveric101
Sorry to be pedantic but JIGAwatts is the way to say it like it was in the movie, GIGAwatts for real life.
Apparently one of the writers while researching the movie went to a science lecture somewhere and the lecturer incorrectly pronuonced it JIGAwatts, the writer liked his way of saying it so put it in the movie.
@nanascho
GREAT SCOTT!
@Emmett Brown
Wow you must be the first person to get lowranked and Highest ranked on the same thread! :)
wow, glad i wasn't a beta tester.
@metformin
What they're not telling you is that they're testing the wet circuit with pure H2O water, which does not conduct electricity!
@Bouillestfu
you mean as in deionized water? thats a crock...
@metformin What they didn't show you was the stack of Asian model corpses stacked out in back that didn't make it all the way through filming.
@Bouillestfu Are you implying that they used salt water to short the ordinary power strip? Or were you really just not thinking it through?
BTW: pure water is not a good conductor of electricity, but it is certainly not a good insulator. The proximity of the conductors in a power strip also helps in achieving enough leakage to trip the breaker, even with purified water. Though I'd guess they used tap water with enough TDS to make the experiment go as planned.
@metformin http://www.newton.dep.anl.gov/askasci/gen01/gen01755.htm
No, it's not a crock. Distill some water and test it out yourself. Then use tap water to do the same.
@Tommy Five Who said it was a crock? Did you read Vince Calder's input on the page you linked to?
@Tommy Five oops, I missed @Bouillestfu's comment.
@holtcg
A regular breaker won't trip by "leakage" current unless the current is significantly over the breaker's rating (15A or more). With that much current through water, you would likely see bubbles (lots of them) from the water splitting into hydrogen and oxygen.
A GFI breaker will trip if more than a few milliamps is detected between hot and ground, and regular water will trip a GFI breaker most of the time (that's the whole point). I don't know if very pure water will trip a GFI.
Only 4 outlets? I seriously might buy some if there was a larger one available.
Right up there as "Things I'll Let Other People Test" with the SawStop

Did she die :|
@nullifie Why do you think there is a voice over?
@nullifie will it blend?
@nullifie You should buy this only if she delivers it to you in person.
LED battery powered night light?
This is the greatest thing since "Will It Blend?" !!!
Why do these videos look like Infomercial ?
The sockets in the last video look really unhappy! :(
That's insane. It seems as though they're trying to teach you to risk your life by lulling you into a state of complacency. It only takes one defective power strip to get you killed. I suppose if you get electrocuted to death, you get your money back.
Her words say "safe power strip" but her lips say "Godzilla is attacking the city!"
Too bad Billie Mays isn't still around to sell this. He could've sold millions of these....
@PlatinumSkeet
