FURO robot waitstaff lull Koreans into a sense of complacency
Service robots are nothing new (and neither are dancing robots, for that matter) but unlike our old friend CAFERO, FURO has something of a human face. Of course, this is supposed to soothe and reassure us, but like the old robo-teddy we're pretty much convinced that this is yet another harbinger of doom. Developed by Future Robot of Korea (not to be confused with Furo, the Japanese robotics manufacturer) this guy can take credit cards and features a touchscreen display and that ominous, disembodied cartoon head. And it will do a two-step for you if you're nice! Video after the break.

Nothing human about that face.
oh, robochick is a cuty:)
Now lonely men can have something that moves.

Why does this remind me of Tom Servo?
Meh...
that ma'am says '화면이 잘 안보이네요(i cant see the screen)' and later she says '와! 로봇이다(wow! it's a robot)
seriously, how does viewing angle have anything to do with a robot?
Way to source out the exterior design to VTECH...
Way too cutsy, fake human! Try swiping your credit card whilst she's rotating from side to side and nodding it's head, and she'll have your extremities off...
I'm trying to understand what problem this robot solves. The interaction with these devices is rediculously slow and tedious. However, all the extra blinking LEDs is mezmorizing and makes me forget the futility of the exercise. Nicely played.
make me a sandwich.
no.
sudo make me a sandwich.
ok.
Haha...furo in japanese, is bath.
Japanese visitor: "Mr. Kim, where is your furo?"
Korean host: "What do you mean, it's in the kitchen."
Japanese visitor: "Huh? You have the furo in the kitchen?"
Korean host: "Wait. It's in the bedroom right now."
Japanese visitor: "What?"
A CRT monitor with a cartoon drawed head that only makes three lip movements, moves it's feetwheels, arms, wiggles it's head, etc?
Not bad for the cost of a new car. Of course most can duplicate it for much less out of beer cans and an old style TV.
stop moving the f#$%ing screen and let me read it.
