Find out what happens when consumer electronics news stops being polite and starts getting real: the Engadget Podcasters take your questions. Find out the real story behind Kin's failure (hint: it was Josh's fault), why the Engadget staff is Mac-based (hint: it has to do with nested stock options), and why Paul Miller is still playing Chrono Trigger.

As a nerd and Gaga fan, I am pleased with the Alejandro tune. Carry on!
@Dession so much win
@Dession
IT'S NOT COMING THROUGH ON MY ITUNES FEED, SOMEONE CODE IN THE RSS PLEASE
@ptrjay
NVM, it's up now :) cannot actual wait
Doritos!!!
Who was playing with some cellophane during the whole interview? It drove me nuts and made me want to stop the podcast!
@NISXAN Yeah, it sounds like someone is unwrapping candy during the whole Gartenberg part.
I can no longer take the chewing sound. I had to shut it down.
Paul was eating potato chips.
Arrgh....the crunching was about to kill me! Since they didn't answer my question, maybe someone here can: I want to switch to the Droid X from my BB Storm, but I want to know how well the Droid X handles multiple email accounts; does anyone know?
That chewing noise is absolutely disgusting. I can hear every crunchy bite and crinkle so clearly. How has no one on the line said anything yet? I think I can even hear him wiping his hands clean of the grease and salt when he's done.
Can there be a new podcast policy of no eating while unmuted?
Whoever was playing with the paper near their mic ruined the podcast for me.
DANGIT PAUL
STOP WITH THE DORITOS
btw, thanks for answering my question. I was reading something else and almost jumped out of my chair when Nilay yelled my name, haha
I'm getting tired of listening to classic Engadget's podcast. It's like an Apple festival. It's all Apple this, Jobs that, Mac here, iPhone there. Just hear the first 2 mins of this podcast. I can't stand it anymore.
@Hydraulics
I can totally relate. I was listening to a video game podcast the other day and they just wouldn't stop talking about Microsoft, Sony or Nintendo. Talk about being on someones payroll...
I see once again the RSS feed is lagging.
It's weird, sometimes the Engadget podcasts RSS feeds work immediately, and sometimes they work days later.
@andysexton Come on, still no working RSS?
I can download manually, but then my podcatcher will be all confused ;)
It would be one thing if this was a one time thing, but it seems to always happen with Engadget podcasts.
At least a few of us do not want anything to do with itunes bloated crap on our computers.
Come on Engadget! When you post these stories I'd expect the feeds to be updated but they're not! First it was the RSS now its my Zune feed. Is it really that hard to update all the feeds before posting this?
@LOVEoo I think there is a problem with it getting through. It hasn't hit my Google Listen, yet it is in iTunes. It might be the ampersand.
@Eli superflush
Garnett Lee is able to release Weekend Confirmed on all channels same time and tweets each release. If he is able too I don't see why Engadget can't.
Funny that iTunes gets it first...just saying.
@Eli superflush There is definitely something strange happening; I use gPodder and it's not pulling down the episode, even though it's definitely now in the RSS feed. (gPodder is open-source, so Google Listen may share some of its code.)
@Mike Cerm You are right. If you open the feed in IE (for some reason it's just raw text in Chrome), you can see the entry for this podcast, but if you look down at the bottom where the file name is for the older shows, it's not there on this one. (look by the "comment" link)
So it wasn't linked properly somehow.
Where's HotWhiteChocolate?
Laptop of an Apple Mac Book Pro quality, nice not so much of an IBM-Lenovo style design and surpassing in performance (workstation certified graphics) is - DELL Precision line... and it has aluminum body for years, come on! :) If you talk about Mac Book not Pro than you get Dell Latitude line i guess...
FYI, Engadget, I don't think you're on anyone's payroll or anything, but regarding Kin's impact on public opinion toward WP7, people *are* going to have their thoughts, but...
If blogs, such as Engadget, run around posting and saying over and over again that Kin is going to hurt WP7, all you're doing is contributing to any negativity. If tech blogs are excited about WP7, more people will be excited. In other words, the media has MORE influence over public opinion than the actual events themselves.

@josah completely agree ...
It is about time people who wrote Kin off, stay away from Kin. Forget it. WP7 was meant to be different and looks like it does have the Kin Studio-like service coming (one of the cool features of Kin) via Windows Phone Live service.
I sure hope people like the editors at Engadget give WP7 the same kind of leeway that they gave Android and the iPhone 3G, 3GS and 4.
For example, everyone was cool with Android being a "bit buggy", "sometimes sluggish", "having low battery life", "not having many apps", etc.
And as for iPhone/iOS vs what is promised in WP7: wifi sync, Zune pass (aka subscription music), XBOX Live integration, Office integration, facebook deep integration with people/contacts - none of it is *still* available in iOS, so let's give WP7 some credit.
Yes, WP7 is not going to have copy/paste, yes it will have limited multi-tasking and yes, the browser is not going to be webkit. But Microsoft has promised updates to the OS outside of carriers' whims, so things can only get better. Even in v1.0 I think it is a great OS and with the minimum hardware standard set for manufacturers, I think the phones will definitely be worth owning!
Engadget crew: please do not expect WP7 to "destroy" iPhone as soon as it comes out. It will be a VERY viable competitor and will make a strong case as a smartphone. We should root for Microsoft because this Google-Apple fight is getting dirty and we need some competition to flourish!
No?
Xps studio 16 performance:price wise is pretty damn nice.
I have a question. Have any of you read Watchmen, if no your Nerd cards will be taken away and have there intrinsic field removed.
Good lord almighty. What a lot of tedious drivelling and repeating of the same statement. YES - WINDOWS 7 NEEDS TO BE SOMETHING SPECIAL TO GET INTO THE MARKET. We get it for crying out loud. How many statements, complete with whiny voice tones and irritiating pregnant pauses between them, do you lot need to shovel your-nopoint down our earholes? Hopeless.
And don't eat crisps on mike, you fools.
Guys, I'm listening right now (37 minutes), seriously, whoever is eating is so annoying, I appreciate the podcast and everything and I guess you guys do this as extra but come on. Could you mute your mic or move it away next time if you need to eat while podcasting?
As I listen to general chatter, I'm surprised how little the editors know about the mobile industry other than a VERY high-level view of what is currently happening. They seem not to know the trends, the underlying technology, the finances, or the motivation for corporate actions other than obviously novice speculation. In other words, they seem unable to provide serious insight into the market other than what happened in a press-release or at a tradeshow.
I'm a hair from un-subscribing from this site in my ATOM feed. It's a great site, but I'm looking for a little more than surface level analysis.
I dont think this episode is on the zune marketplace yet?
You guys are again being crippled by your freelance type lifestyle. You (and probably most of your friends in your circles) believe the world can operate on google-docs and gmail because you have no centralized IT world that you live in. The Iphone took off big time when they included exchange integration, same case for android. If MS can provide a great user experience that ties seemlessly into their business world you will see the platform get some serious traction. Windows for the home PC isn't the industry leader because of how awesome it is but rather because windows runs the business world which trickles down to the home and beyond. Evevery employee in our company that isn't getting company issued blackberry's are buying android/iphone devices and asking me every day to help them connect up to our server so they can have access to their work calendars and contacts.
Is it fair to ask WP7 to blow everybody out of the water? Also, knowing what we know now (Kin team was only now integrated with the WP7 team), is it fair to use Kin as a benchmark for how Microsoft will deliver WP7? No, and no.
WP7 already promises to do more than what iTunes/iPhone combo does - wifi sync, subscription music/movies, smart playlists that combine local and subscription music (yay!), XBOX Live gaming, backup to the cloud (free!), true integration with facebook, etc. - so why is that not highlighted and instead "if the browser is not like mobile safari, the device is dead"??? WHAT?
So for ANY one or two items that do not match up to iPhone/Android, WP7 is dead but wherever it kicks iOS butt, the justification is "it is coming soon anyway"???
Please be reasonable when you talk about and start previewing/reviewing WP7 and make sure that you give all its features justice and not just harp on what is missing.
Lately, when playing the podcasts on my iPhone 3GS, everyone sounds like they're underwater and echo'ey...otherwise, enjoying the podcasts very much. :-)
