Apple deleting mentions of Consumer Reports' iPhone 4 piece on forums, can't delete your thoughts
...or can they? In case Apple has somehow managed to perfect the art of selective disremembrance across a wide population, here's a refresher: Consumer Reports has thrown down the gauntlet, stating that it "can't recommend" the iPhone 4 until the antenna issues are fixed, issues that its labs and ours have verified quite substantially. Apple apparently isn't happy about that, and has taken to deleting threads about the Consumer Reports article from its support forums. Now, Apple deleting threads from its support forums is nothing new; outside of "regular" moderation, the company routinely deletes discussion of hardware flaws that it's not ready to 'fess up to, or just generally negative lines of thought about its products. Good thing the internet's a big place, and if Apple's not going to admit the antenna issue, there are plenty of ways to gripe about it. Feel free to express yourself in the comments below, for instance!

I think the problem is most of you are just as wrong as Apple. Apple should just say there is an issue, no matter how much it actually effects a user or not. You droidtools don't have an iPhone 4, or a clue, IQ or any common sense.
When an iPhone 4 user tells you how this defect does or does effect them you get mad and insulted. I don't recall Google or its users apologizing for the Nexus One.
I don't know how many people are effected by this, but I am not one of them. I have not meet a person in my circle who has, be that as it may. Acting like the iPhone can't make calls or has limited signal is more then stupid.
If Apple users are sheep from using a phone and not having this issue, what does that make Android users who use a laggy, ugly, dubious signal quality (N ONE), screen popping off - lets wait for the next big version to cover the Windows 3.1 interface? Jacka@@es, you're right.
Why not enjoy your broke a@@ phones and put the stones down already? I know, you'd call me and tell me off if your EVO4 wasn't out of battery right? Droidsheep sigh.
When I first got the iPhone 4, I applied the screen protector from BodyGuardz. It also comes with strips that cover the side areas. Since this film covers the area in question, I haven't had a problem with reception. I never tried the phone without it to see if there is noticible difference however.
just give us a case you cheap bastards.
These are not the droids you are looking for...
Can someone say "RECALL"?...
This is what Apple gets for blocking Flash
You like your Android and I like my iPhone4. Let's hug and be friends.
BWHAHAHA, F U APPLE!
I was a big apple fan (not fanatic) as they had and still do have some great products. But when a company turns their back on their very own customers by refusing to acknowledge they have a major design flaw or defect on a product tells me as a company they have become morally corrupt with greed and power.
Apple is digging themselves a pretty big hole here and showing there true colors. I am voting with my wallet and refusing to purchase an Apple product based on their actions.
A PR screw up for Apple big time. I will say that I do not have the problem with my phone or my daughters phone. Maybe our area has better reception, I don't know, but I can not make the power reduce or a call drop. The coverage is much better the my old 3G.
He`s such a proud tightwad , he won`t even spring for some Duct Tape !
lalalalalala
I applied the bodyguardz shield to my phone, comes with a small strip to cover the sides of the phone. Seemed to work as I don't the problem with the antenna. I'm sure any of those clear film protection screens might do the job. Given that I would do it with or without the antenna problems, this issue hasn't really affected me.
Consumer Reports has no credibility in mobile. They are years too late to the iPhone and AT&T game.

I'm an unhappy/happy Apple customer. Happy because the iPhone 4 is ace.... Unhappy because of the reception issue I'm experiencing and the way Apple are dealing with the whole thing.
I didn't even look at competing devices like the Evo this time round, I just bought the iPhone 4 (had the 3g before hand) but next year I'll be taking a serious look at Android, I reckon they'll have matured the platform to the point Apple will most likely be inferior in a lot of ways.
Android FTW
All you hipster doofus iPhone owners. How I hate, loathe, detest and despise you!!! You should all get Android phones. It is so awesome. If you don't believe me listen to this:-
-My Android phone has increased my charm and charisma by 1000 points while simultaneously reducing my damage taken by 1000 points.
-It has increased the size of my member. In fact it is so huge now that you
can see it from outer space.
-It has increased my intellect so much that now I can come up with such scintillating and cerebral pieces of insults such as 'iSheep', or 'you suck Jobs dick'.
In conclusion, did I mention I hate you? I HATE YOU. Oh, I hate you so much it hurts. Yes nothing gives me more pleasure than to write condescending remarks on iPhone related articles and calling you losers. Are you listening … you losers?
Signed,
The Super Awesome Android Dude
Windows, Apple, Dell... were all their CEO's asleep during Business Ethics class?
Lololololololololololol Apple.
Reading the comments I thought this was Gizmodo for a second.
We should be easier on him...the race will be over soon ; )
If he buys the farm soon , this will be a shitty way to end your resume.
Just buy a case and it will become a NON ISSUE!
Apple has disappointed by not accepting that the antenna design is flawed. However, The iphone4 is at the top of its game and arguably THE best phone on the market to spite the antenna issue.
BUY A CASE..... thats all you need to do.
BTW, people here that don't use iphone4's shouldn't even comment here cause you have no clue how wonderful it is to use an iPhone.
Drama queens.
Good. Apple is taking a page out of the Chinese government's book. Apple is sure to become all powerful like the Chinese government.
Fun facts : if the example of the itunes store is anything, the same people will sell most of the digital books in 5-10 years.
Wait! not fun, scary.
I love apple computers as a video editor and graphics producer, but I'm so soured on their attitude. If apple was a person they'd be a sociopath. Get over yourself, admit you were wrong, and fix it like lots of great companies do.
it is funny, since i got my first mac in 1995, i was a big apple advocate. finally i got what i wanted and apple has a lot of fans. but now i wouldn't dream of buying an apple product because of terrible quality (ibook 700, early macbook 2003, this iphone thing) and their ridiculous closed standards, and cult like leadership. now i am a happy ubuntu user and think these iphone people are nuts. so question, am i just like 15 years ahead of the mainstream (since linux will inevitably take off), or was i like one of these iphone idiots, refusing to see reality? i'm going to say the former because of the quality issues. i had a powerbook that was a tank. every mac was built well. now they just can't justify their price premium. why pay more for something that does less and is badly designed?
@ubuntubax It's kind of sad that maintaining awareness of reality and the understanding of quality vs cost leaves someone fifteen years ahead of the rest of the shlock, not like it's a bad thing, though : ). Apple worked hard to build a reputation while still considered the underdog, but as soon as they had a fad following and a hip brand that went wide enough, they let that do all the work for them. It would be the same as if Starbucks began using watered down "Great Value" brand grounds in their coffee after finally gaining solid footing in the market.
When was the last time you saw Jobs change his fashion (the turtle neck + jeans)? He is super stubborn person, you have to follow his commands. You are the one to be changed, not him.
His words is a command. He can thumbs up or down anything: Adobe, MS etc.and suddenly the crowds believe it.
Actually, Apple has less than 1 month ;-)) to create great history of iPhone, but the way they deal with complains blows it.
I thought Apple sucks...
Just wanted to point out the contradiction going on here. I do not disagree with those that take issue with Apple deleting any posts that make them look bad, despite how painfully true they are, nor do I disagree with those would go so far as to call their practices communist. The contradiction lies in the fact that so many of you will downrank a post you disagree with to the point that it can't be viewed, and would likely delete it if you could. Some of these "downranked into oblivion" comments are people calmly expressing opinions that are related to the issue.
