@Revolutionary If only they could make an ultimate phone. If design is cool, then the screen is small, if screen is good then processor is weak, if processor is powerful then OS is shit...
Please HTC make an ultimate phone so I could forget my iPhone!
Give it two front cameras, two back cameras and a lenticular lens screen. Then give it a chiclet qwerty keyboard with a nub placed on the left instead of the laptop-esque direction keys which don't work the way they do on a laptop.
@Revolutionary But the menu home back and search buttons are a requirement by google as far as i know...you cant just go get rid of them like that...it is beautiful though...just needs those buttons somewhere
@Revolutionary Pretty looking but assuming that those are front and rear facing cameras, where is the earpiece ? Also wouldn't the front camera attract all kinds of stuff like sweat and hair ? This just seems like a nice render rather than innovative design to me.
@Bakerdk people have been buying htc phones regardless if you buy them or not and theyre quit successful.... doesnt matter if you buy it or not the next person will
@Gazoobee I can't believe you're trying to undersell his achievement by saying "anyone" can do this.
No, good concepts aren't "easy" to produce and not just anyone has this much industrial design flare, or the talent to render it, all by the age of 18.
Concept or production model be damned, what he has achieved is awesome and I wish him the best of luck.
This is a very nice looking design although a button for voice dial would be good and a flash on it without some absurd protruding lens would be great. A few more descrete physical buttons would be preferable to me but a similar case design like the ipod and this is a good idea. I'd rather use my flash for a flashlight app than some crappy camera as you need a good lens, not just megapixels to take pictures and the lens will always be too small until the technology for lenses changes.
@Bakerdk Come on, where the hell have you been?!!! If you're just now wanting to buy an HTC, haven't even purchased one yet, you are so far behind. HTC has quickly and quietly become the number one smartphone maker on the planet. With some of the best hardware, cutting edge designs, and awesome UI's, with easy after market customization, their phones have been kicking ass for a while now. Between my current HD2 and the EVO, to whom I respectfully bow, HTC bent the market over this last year.
@FNi There's more to industrial design that just rendering the externals of the device. The materials used and the placement of the internals is also a huge part of it.
This render looks as cool as hell, but this kid is not an industrial designer, just an incredibly talented concept artist.
This + gingerbread. I'm an EVO advocate tho and that screen's size is looking like 3.7-4 (which is def doable on the later end of that range). Just make it a premium phone and don't be scared to charge more for it if it's coming with REAL top specs, integration, and sans limitations. Looks like the quality of camera would be the same on the front and back. I wouldn't mind a 5+ MP front/back phone (you can always lower the quality in settings if you're video streaming or something anyway).
They'd have to really reinforce the bottom kickstand for ruggedness. Not the kind of phone you cut corners with, so charge $300 for this one, I'd buy still lol.
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
OMG THIS IS FUCKING GORGEOUS.
@Revolutionary
Best concept I've ever seen. PLEASE BRING IT TO THE MARKET, HTC!
@John Stathakis
HTC should hire this guy, immediately.
@Revolutionary i just jizzed in my pants
@Revolutionary
Seconded
I *want* this phone!
Finally, a phone I might actually buy from HTC. Hope they're done with their behemoths.
'Bout time HTC grew up in the design realm...if this every happens...which it probably won't...
.
@Revolutionary Of course it looks nice, it's a render; and unfortunately, the end result is rarely as nice.
@Revolutionary
Phone pr0n. You ain't gettin' this either.
The fact an 18 year old is this talented makes me sick.
@Revolutionary
OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!! B-U-TEE-FULL!!!!!
All other phones have been dethroned as of now!
(x_x)
@FNi: You're forgetting the difference between a "concept" and an actual design. Anyone can render something up like this, "concepts" are easy.
@Plazmic Flame
Johnathan Ive vs Andrew Kim! FIGHT!
@Revolutionary If only they could make an ultimate phone. If design is cool, then the screen is small, if screen is good then processor is weak, if processor is powerful then OS is shit...

Suprise, IT CAN MAKE A CALL with anyway you hold it.
Surprise, IT CAN MAKE A CALL with anyway you hold it.
@John Stathakis
fully rendered by an 18 year-old!
@wintersolstice Screw want! I NEED this phone :O
@potretr A comment so trollish you had to post it twice. Very nice.
@Revolutionary
Will it blend? I bet not with those enormous metal bands!
@FNi
more like depressed
Sigh
@Bakerdk
HTC HD2 is easily the best designed phone there is
a little big for some people yes but best in the design category
@Revolutionary

@Revolutionary This looks like something Apple would make. The design is similar to iPhone.
@Revolutionary But the menu home back and search buttons are a requirement by google as far as i know...you cant just go get rid of them like that...it is beautiful though...just needs those buttons somewhere
@Revolutionary
HAL 9000!
@malus
A more minimalist design? Just one button? No carrier branding? Glass screen? It sure does look like Apple.
@Gazoobee yes anyone can make a concept but few if any look this good hey just take the interior of 1 of your current models and throw it in this case
@Revolutionary
Pretty looking but assuming that those are front and rear facing cameras, where is the earpiece ? Also wouldn't the front camera attract all kinds of stuff like sweat and hair ? This just seems like a nice render rather than innovative design to me.
@locked
I take back my comment. The source page has more informative photos. Spoke too soon.

@Bakerdk Shut up Troll.HTC has the Best Designs on the market, and if you say iPhone i'll d*ck slap you with your dads penis.

@Revolutionary
I make concepts 1000 times more realistic and better looking than this. I need to tip more often then.
@Revolutionary I don't think there's enough Braun concepts left to rip off for Ives to win...
@Revolutionary Coincidence that apart from the UI it is designed a lot like an iPhone?

I hate it. It makes me look ugly.
@Revolutionary I'm willing to bet the KIRFers are getting to work.
Expect it to show up near you sometime soon with Android 1.6 and Dual SIM.

@Revolutionary
I want Win7 Phone on this NOAA!
@Revolutionary
stupid
@Revolutionary I want to like this so bad, but this is just an iPod Nano blown up with a different color scheme. We can do better then this.
@Revolutionary
You know it's a concept device when there's practically no bezel.
@Plazmic Flame
Holy crap, you get that excited that much about what it looks like???
@Revolutionary - It is what the NEXUS 2 will based on, Watch!
@Plazmic Flame
Anyone else look at this UI and think helloooo metro (Zune/WP7 UI)?
@MrDiSante
first thing i thought of when i saw the picture
