@techlord The Droid line is just for all of Verizon's Android phones its not just Motorola although they are the most associated with it due to the first Droid. HTC also make Droid's, the Droid Eris (Basically a Hero) and the Droid Incredible.
@timshundo Not really. The branding is appropriate to who Verizon is marketing to and the droid site clearly displays the phones and their specific features. There is nothing confusing about it, people just don't' want to think for themselves anymore.
@techlord The(minor?) technical differences aside, I think it's: Do you want a large touchscreen phone or a slightly smaller phone with a physical keyboard?

@techlord
If people get that easily confused they probably aren't in the market for a smartphone.
@Zachary
Naw. It's just a pretty stupid branding scheme.
@timshundo
How's that? Verizon just calls all of their Android phones by the 'Droid' moniker. Seems pretty simple to me.
@techlord here is how it goes:
Droid X > Droid 2 > Droid Incredible > Motorola Droid > Droid Eris
A good marketing scheme for Verizon would be this:
$199.99 > $149.99 > $99.99 > $49.99 > $19.99
Of course all of these include a 2-yr. contract
That way people would know, based off of price, which phone is better

@timshundo Yeah, it is a pretty stupid branding scheme, just like putting a lower case "i" in front of everything.

@darkdylaner not entirely true. LG ally? Not a Droid brand. MOTO devour? Not a Droid brand. It actually is not stupid but it is a little strange.
