CE-oh no he didn't!: Microsoft's Kevin Turner says iPhone 4 might be Apple's Vista

While not technically a CEO, Microsoft chief operating officer Kevin Turner is not immune to a certain amount of executive level foot-in-mouth. Speaking at Microsoft's Worldwide Partner Conference in DC and chatting up his company's upcoming slate of Windows Phones, he couldn't help a little iPhone bashing: "It looks like the iPhone 4 might be their Vista, and I'm okay with that." Should we point out to Kevin that attempting to criticize your competition by comparing it to your own flagship products is usually counterproductive, or leave him to figure it out on his own during some early morning magnificent moustache contemplation session?

Touchy Engadget, touchy. You dont have to rush to Apple's aid... their big boys, they can take care of themselves. Whats funny is that the iPhone 4 will never be as successful as Vista was... Turner was actually helping them in his analogy.

this is to all people who commenting in this post and also all readers of engadget - just imagine that Apple never introduced iPhone!!!!!!! i believe we all were still using that dumb cell phones from dumb cell phone making companies, not a single mobile company has guts to introduce touch screen phones, they never thought of that and dreamed about that. all were woke up after apple iphone only. why all companies start making touch screen phones after apple iphone, why not they tried before Jan 2007??? why not they thought about cell phone apps, app stores, touch screen futuristic UI, android and off course win7..... (its getting late and late and late and late:) :) :) :) :) :D

If apple makes a single mistake millions of people start shouting - give apple a try guys.... they are just 3 and half year old in mobile industry and i believe you like apple or hate it, everybody is agreed that they had changed the global mobile industry and 101% credit goes to Apple only. Ask old mobile giants Nokia, RIM, SE, Samsung, LG and other mobile manufacturing companies as well as mobile OS making companies like Microsoft about there contribution in mobile industry after 2007............ nothing rather than flooded the market with iPhone clones and similar app stores. its a big shame on them.

I don't have any words to comment on Microsoft poor guys and Vista :( because i don't wantto waste my time.

He actually escaped from Pescadero State Hospital for the Criminally Insane right after he killed his twin brother. They both worked as security guards there.

iPhone 4 is to Apple as Windows Vista is to Microsoft? Give me a break. iPhone 4 has one little design flaw that most people aren't sure even exists, while Windows Vista was one of the most terribly designed, non-functional, easily breached security operating systems in recent history. That comparison is blowing things way out of proportion.

Until the unibody.(hardware) Yes apple has had horrible hardware.( check out an ipod from 03, or a g4 for that matter lol). The only thing that Apple has going for them is that any simple american can use their products(software) i.e. 90 year old women with ipad.

Hey, at least you can alleviate any perceived issues with *any* MS OS by installing a different OS over it. With the iPhone 4 you're SOL unless you buy a case.

Standard solution to any Mac/Apple issue: spend more $.
