Xbox 360 getting dashboard revision this November?
Let's face it, the New Xbox Experience isn't exactly "new" any more, but it looks like Microsoft may be getting close to another complete revision. If a set of purportedly authentic images that surfaced on Logic Sunrise (and have since been pulled at Microsoft's request) are any indication, it appears that the Xbox 360 dashboard will be tweaked to match the appearance of the new Family Center component that Microsoft recently announced (and is set to launch in November). Those changes include a new horizontal menu system instead of the current slanted design, and some other more minor tweaks like smaller text for the menu options. The image above may well not be the final dashboard, however, considering that some of the other leaked images made reference to Natal instead of Kinect, suggesting that they're from an older build.

Ahh! Too many ui changes!
@SolidSnake
XMB ftw!
Change your goursh-dern pickstuh tingeh.
@SolidSnake
I don't mind changes to the UI, but if they are changing it to a horizontal menu system instead of keeping it angled ... that's not very helpful.
I like being able to see 6 boxes on screen instead of what appears to be 3 (or maybe 4). I can see 12 Netflix movie titles on screen at once when it's angled. It's easier to find the item you want faster.
Wish they took lessons from the PS3 bar.
@Xtole
maybe someday but they'll certainly change their ui before thisisit changes its picture
@SolidSnake
and the next ban-wave will probably occur.
@SolidSnake
Although a UI revamp would be nice, they should focus on making it impossible for others to constantly spam you with hundreds of MW2 10th lobby offers.
@SolidSnake
Kinda looks like the Playstation XMB, but with function groups listed vertically, instead of horizontally (an with more elaborate graphics)
@Xtole
I hate the ps3 bar.
@F86 Pilot I actually agree with him I find it quite easy to navigate
Agreed, they're starting to get as bad as Facebook with this stuff. Just leave it as is please, it works great!
Usually does every fall right?
@Rick Astley
Its never gonna let you down.
@DeFlanko Was I the only one that read Flanko's comment and signed that part of the song with it? lol...
@oneloveoneworld
I don't "sign" along with anything. Is that what you kids are doing now-a-days?
@Rick Astley
And it looks more and more like it was designed for the 13 y/o japanese kids who always kick my ass.
@E30 Kid Lol I meant in my head...
Looks like a slightly modified version of the current dash. Meh.
@Faceless Troll lol yeah. they made it 2d
@Faceless Troll
Yeah the "new" one still looks dated
@Faceless Troll
I think I like the current dashboard better.
And what's up with all of the wasted space on the left?
@Faceless Troll I hope that they make loading faster.. 5 seconds for a friends list.. -_-
I really hope the dashboard doesn't have lag anymore. It's kind of sad.
@niZmo
I in the same mind frame. When the new dash came out it was fast enough not to notice but not it seems everything has to load. Even when you go into your video library you get a load screen.
@husher I think this is because, if I'm remembering correctly (it's been a while), the 360 Guide is only allowed some small percentage of the actual processing power.
I agree though, it's so annoying. It shouldn't take five seconds to load any Guide window.
XMB, tried, true, award winning... and put sideways when MS needs a new UI.
@Auouywonz
Except it sucks navigating the PS Store for stuff compared to the Marketplace on Live. And this UI was based off Media Center and Zune, but yea, it does basically look just like a sideways XMB (I have 360 and PS3 btw in case you wondered). But what is the real change here besides being completely straight and not slanted???
@Auouywonz
Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 called, it wants its credit.
You fucking tit.
@archkron I didn't see Windows Media Center winning any awards!!!!1
@Auouywonz I can't stand XMB. It works fine on a small device like PSP, but on the PS3 it just feels empty - more like a fancy "settings" menu for a TV than the control center for an otherwise amazing console.
@archkron
Didn't you know? Sony's poop has a pleasant aroma.
@lowtolerance
Hahaha funny you should say that. My Sony Bravia TV has an XMB for settings.
@lowtolerance Agreed. I don't even have a clue what half of the setting are on the PS3. The XBOX just seems to have more "personality" to me.
@lowtolerance
Maybe, but for me, I just find that it's always faster to do something with the XMB, like sending a message.

@Auouywonz
XMB won a freaking Emmy. That's like giving the TI-88 graphing calculator a Pulitzer for ergonomic redesign. Is there any relevance or credibility there? Not to mention Sony has film and TV and music studios in Hollywood whereas no other tech company can make those claims in terms of other SBUs related to entertainment. Biased?
@Auouywonz Haha the XBOX is only trying to keep up with the PS3
muzzymate already posted that similar images have already been posted at http://www.xbox.com:80/en-US/kinect/entertainment.htm towards the bottom of the page.
"Complete" revision? Eh, not so much...
I still kind of wish i could change the color of the green squares.
I also miss the video market place, how it was a smooth and fast transition from the menu into the market. Unlike the Zune where as I select it and i get a nice long load screen :\
Also I still worried about my prem themes
It's not as.....Pretty. If this is true, I like XMB better (although I have a PS3, I do think the current dashboard is better than XMB)
@VetteDude
They both have their pros and cons. Buying and navigating content to buy or purchase is faster and easier on 360/Zune, instant stream on 360 currently, and updating stuff and installing downloads is way faster on 360. But XMB keeps that plain, simple elegant look consistent in my PS3, Bravia in my bedroom, and Sony Blu Ray player. Then again, MS is trying to keep consistency with Zune and 360 UI and Media Center. If NXE/Dashboard had a Zunish theme would look just as nice and sleek as XMB probably.
Honestly, unless there are API limitations, I am wondering why we do not get a Zune HD like UI for the Xbox and keep it all in the family
About time. XMB >>>> 360's UI IMO. I just wish we could get something that looks "high end" like the PS3 instead of looking like it was designed at Fisher-Price. Not that the 360 UI isn't powerful - it is. I just don't like how it looks.
As for the pic, that's a hilarious gamertag. Probably computer generated for demo purposes.
The zune interface is gorgeous. Microsoft should synergy the whole damn device UIS
Just get rid of the lame Avatars!
@alexwv
You mean the Miiplacements
Wants a search function...
Sony XMB FTW!!!!
