The white iPhone 4 will ship at the end of July

It's become the stuff of legend over the past few weeks, but if you've been holding out for a white iPhone 4, well, today's not your lucky day -- but Apple's now saying it'll ship by the end of July. That's later than the previously announced middle of July ship date, but we're going to keep believing that when it does arrive, it'll be the answer to all of our problems. Actually, after today's debacle, they can REALLY fix this model and everything after. They do have the technology. If they pushed folks to buy white, they have the opportunity to fix the antenna issue..Unfortunately, Wall Street will likely not let them (and screw up this quarter's results by forcing people to wait it out).

Hmmm, could be why it's being delayed?

I originally pre-order the while 32G at bestbuy, but found last sunday that another bestbuy had a black one. they were able to switch my pre-order to black and now the black one is upgrading with the 4.01 software fix - even though I did not have any reception problems.

Engadget is really all over this apple crap. I used to think that you guys were the better ones out of the bunch but I was wrong. I gave you guys the benefit of the doubt and even defended you a few times but this is out of control! I'm sure there's a lot of news worthy tech things going around. This insane coverage gives apple more fuel to fire their stupid mind and think they are Gods. I wonder when will tech sites stop posting millions of apple articles. Yes we do read other company news and not just apple. My opinion!

Glass. That well known protector from protons! All plastic changes colour over time. Leaving a white iPhone in the sun won't do it's complexion any favours. At least the glass will protect it from oil and grease ingression and from surface scratches.

How long does it take usually leaving a white plastic on the sun to change its color? Will you put your phone under the sun for most of its lives? If I have a phone, I would more likely to use it or put it in my pocket, not putting it under the sun 24/7 for years. I would be more worried about color change due to the heat produced by the phone itself, not from the sun.

I simply want to know when pre-ordering begins for the white iPhone. Steve said that it will start shipping at the end of July. That seems to assume that pre-ordering will take place before then, but when?

So, the white iPhone 4 is probably the one to get, with whatever fix they put on the manufacturing. I mean come one, what else would be the cause of such long delay?
