Apple releases iTunes 9.2.1 and iBooks 1.1.1, fixes galore promised
Merely days after iTunes 9.2 hit the pipes in order to enable iPhone 4 syncing, Apple's software team has pushed out the first "minor" update since with 9.2.1. Truth be told, the list of changes, fixes and tweaks is rather lengthy for a simple point-point update, with this one allowing users to organize apps on the iOS 4 home screens into folders using iTunes, organize and sync PDF documents as books, etc. As for fixes? For starters, it'll "disable older versions of some incompatible third-party plug-ins" (thanks?), while also addressing "minor issues with dragging and dropping items, a performance issue when first syncing to some devices with iTunes 9.2" and other general speed issues that users were reporting. As for iBooks 1.1.1, that one still seems to be propagating through the iTunes server factory, promising support for books with audio and video, improvements for PDF documents and other miscellaneous bug fixes. Feel free to toss your impressions of the new builds in comments below, but don't blame us if your eagerness ends up breaking something you love dearly.

For anyone who says iTunes doesn't load up fast. It seems to work fine for me and I have over 200 GB of date in my iTunes library
check out my startup video of iTunes

@allthingsme
data not date
@allthingsme People with complaints about the slowness of iTunes are on Windows.
@vjk2005
I should've guessed that. I thought I read that someone said even on a Mac it would load up in a flash, or in seconds. I really never gave it any thought previous to reading that comment so I went to my computer and loaded up iTunes to really take a look at how long it takes to load up on my system.
Who cares! They release a new iTunes every other day. I just ignore the iTunes updates now because they're so fucking frequent.
Don't like iTunes? Here's a crazy solution.... Ready?.... Wait for it.... DONT USE IT.
See how that works?
@BlondeBuddhist too bad if you have an iPhone you have to.
way to be a douche
@SirNoDroin
You dont need to use iTunes if you have an iPhone, you just have to 'have' it.
There are a bunch of other programs out there that offer the exact same things (minus the store) that are free and that run much faster.
So if you hate iTunes and own an Apple product, please follow the instructions below:
1. Download iTunes
2. Download desired program to handle iDevice
3. Move on.
Maybe, just maybe one day I'll hit update and I will be able to sync over wifi.
I am curious; what is the best mediaplayer, any OS?
@disappearhere
foobar2000 has by far the best audio quality of any media player i have ever used...its built in plugins can make a 92k MP3 sound decent. but the interface is FUGLY.
Windows Media Player Aint Bad, version 11 gets most of it right, and the search feature is lighting fast, and the auto-manage is perfect.
for Mac itunes is OK, I like songbird better, but it doesn't work with iPhone so it kills the deal for most people.
Some people swear by mediamonkey or something, I had it once, didn't like it, too generic CSS/webpage looking for me.
winamp is still around, i have that set to my default audio app because it launches faster then any of the other ones (like less than a second).
@disappearhere Well, consider this. Windows Media player is good for Windows computer, and iTunes for Windows is not as good. However, iTunes for Mac is simply the best multimedia software, but there is no Windows Media Player for Mac (I know, i know.. there is just a simple player, to play WMV, but that doesn't count).
So, considering this fact, iTunes turns out to be the best player on ALL platforms... Even works on Linux with WINE :P
@bathellfire Thought so;)
I hope this works, 9.2 broke my iTunes syncing ability with Windows 7 Ultimate and I had to go back to 9.1.1, so I really hope 9.2.1 isn't like 9.2
Yay I love apple and I love my iPhone4 I guess you can call me a fanboy. Whatever the case any news is good news and watch the ihaters flock like flys on shit.
@746674
I feel the same way, but im open minded towards 'appe haters'.
There are in fact a wide range of Apple haters BTW.
I used to be an Apple hater, but I owned their products and liked them, the only difference is I 'acted' as if I dont like them, just to give the little guys a chance.
Not to be rude, the Droid is a very amazing device and sales will one day top Apples.
I'm drunk. Who gives a flunk
Installing... Lets see what's new.
You really should get that HP software update
I hope they fix the backup issue with the Ipad.. impossible to do a backup!
They forgot to mention the HP Printer Driver update in the article.
With all the updates, apple and Microsoft are similar.
As always...if you jailbreak, unlock, or intend on doing one of those things in the near future, wait for the go ahead from the Dev team...
Maybe the list of fixes would address the antennagate reality distorion field...
Wouldn't it?
@MSiqueira It doesn't seem to have fixed the haters either.
@stenorman2001
Yeah, and I hear that it's causing permanent side effects in some fanboys sense of humor, too.
Quite of a bug...
Does this version streamline the services and startup options? Does this version remove Safari, Bonjour and Mobileme? As I'd like to sync without any software, but, I'm stuck with iTunes.
Baffling.
iBooks LOL
Kindle reader sales just tripled...don`t waste your time , Steve.
FYI. That patch fixes a buffer overflow. So, I'd recommend updating.
Well the iBooks update was amazing...NOT. Did nothing at all to help the speed with PDF. I converted a few comics to PDF and they are unreadable due to the 5 seconds to load each segment of the comic on one page. Horrendous. I am running iOS4.1 on an iPhone 4.
What happened now is that my playlist are copied out of my iPhone and is in iTunes. I don't wanna repeat making playlists.
Stupid update. I just like it cuz it got faster and more responsive. But I need my playlists
