Apple's Magic Trackpad gets FCC approval?
We're admittedly using our Jump To Conclusions Mat a little bit here, but we're pretty sure Apple's Magic Trackpad (or whatever they'll end up calling it) just got FCC approval -- and considering how tightly Apple usually manages its FCC dealings, this could mean it'll be announced as early as this week. A device known only by its model number A1339 is the culprit here, described as a "Bluetooth Device" used in conjunction with a MacBook without any associated filings for WiFi or WWAN networks. The ultra-rough label location diagram is definitely the right shape for the accessory, and what's interesting is that the test report was completed way back in October of 2009. Has Apple seriously been sitting on this thing for the better part of a year? Keep a close eye on the Apple Store for this one, folks.
Update: It's been pointed out to us that the previous leak shows a model number of A1339... so yep, there you have it. Thanks, Eric!
Update 2: In case you needed any more evidence, page 45 of the test report specifically identifies the product being tested as a "Bluetooth Trackpad." Thanks, Tobias!

It can make me warm and fuzzy all night long:)
Remember recently the leaked photo of a mini Apple touch screen? Wonder if this is part of it? Could display short cut icons too to control media playback or perhaps even allow Samsung / LG type smart unlock / launching of apps by inputting specific characters? A combined smart unlock and multi-touch pad would be awesome.
Could it be that Apple had made a Bluetooth Carkit? Seems to me like a good possibility.
It is clear what is comming ahead:
The "Widget" screen on Mac OS will be iOS Apps!
Since both run on the same system, all that is missing is an external multitouch trackpad for the iMac and the Mac Pro (available on all Mackbooks). The apps will run similarly to the iPhone / iPad SDK in a virtual window.
My take is that the next version, OS 11, will incorporate the two together. It makes sense to have small web apps running simultaneously on your workstation and your mobile devices.
What do you think?
@cubicpixel
Been sayin' it for years. Since, you know... iPhone apps started off as Dashboard widgets... peep the weather app circa 2007.
anyone actually care what overpriced pretty-but-useless-as-a-chocolate-teapot gadget the great spinmeisters are gonna come up with next?
I'll buy anything that's Magical!
@sharkync Yeah, me too:) They are the best:)
is only for right handed people lol
jst another trackpad its jst dat its wireless and nw Jobs is going to make this a big device until days after its release, it will fail to work properly coz there are similar problems wit similar devices of other manufacturers..
@ananworks

Apple has had this kind of thing in lappies for ages.

in this crunchgear article they mention iOS making its way to iMacs soon. I can imagine that by using bluetooth trackpad the iMac transforms from OSX to iOS "magically" and the user can control their iMac iOS using the Bluetooth Trackpad. I reckon it's going to have multitouch - remember the touchscreen technology that is in iPhones and iPads, Magic Mouse originated from controlling a desktop computer:

@webtwozero
I guess this means a touchscreen iMac is still a ways away....
@OmegaThirteen
and still a terrible idea. gorilla arm ftw.
I bet the mysterious magic bluetooth trackpad feature is actually the back side of the iPhone 4, enabled by a software update..
