Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"We need a digital camera that can be switched on and fire off that first shot fast. It's not a commonly tracked statistic on any review site, and nobody seems to have this information for every camera. We were hoping other readers could inform us as to what small digital cameras can fire off their first pics in under a second (ideally under half a second). It needs to be small, but mostly, just really quick in operation. Thanks!"
Great, another reason for the rest of the world to hate the U.S.
@steel as for me, i hate people (from wherever they're from) who bash anything just for the sake of group dynamics, so it has nothing to do with the u.s. :)
@steel
Why would anyone hate the US because of a device that can choose to use (or choose not to)?
Usher, on the other hand, you people still have to apologize for that one.
@shizzledmg
Dude, I'm not bashing the ipad for the sake of group dynamics. I'm bashing it because like so many apple products, a few of which i own, it stops short of brilliance by leaving out features like usb ports to upload the pics you can so gloriously view on the thing, the most popular video delivery format online, etc. You know, little things.
Obviously people won't hate the US for the thing; I'm begin rather facetious there. Seriously, sometime I think I want one, or more specifically, my parents would. Then I remember that they'll need a separate pc to hook the thing up to make it work and to add content. If they'd made a tablet and not a peripheral, it would have been phenomenal.
If it requires a separate computer to function, they blew it.
@steel It doesn't have a disc drive, of course you're going to need another computer! You can still download content straight from the device, and Apple activates the device for you, if you please. I'm not saying that's a substitute for a separate computer, but you could essentially skip the second computer if that was a goal. Instead of watching from the sideline, which is easy to do, why don't you invest in an iPad and see what it can really do. Apple offers full refunds within a month from purchase, but I don't think you'd return it.
@Cold Dead Fingers
Fair enough, but I'd offer that I don't need to purchase one to learn that it's missing many abilities most considered standard on a "tablet" before it debuted and redefined that label.
I'll stick to the sidelines until the next version hopefully addresses all of these issues.
@steel
Have you ever considered that the features 'they left out', the features that are obviously deal breakers for you, aren't all that big a deal to the majority of people that buy the iPad?
Of course not, just 'coz those features are requirements for you, they must be for everyone else, right?
