If it uses an LCD screen it ain't and e-reader - it's a tablet.
@InspectorEngadget Unless it also doesn't have a touchscreen, in which it's just a useless piece of junk...
@proppat ...which apparently this tablet does. Did not see the extended info...heheh.
@InspectorEngadget
eReaders fall into the tablet section in my book
@InspectorEngadget Not if it can only show books/magazines.
@InspectorEngadget *...an e-reader...
@InspectorEngadget
I should Gemei one of those.
@Texasyoungin True enough. Not every tablet is an e-reader, but most (if not all) e-readers are tablets. My point was simply that LCD sucks for reading. An e-reader needs to be readable for extended periods of time and thus needs an e-ink screen.
@Joseph9307 Well played, sir.
---Still waiting for the Skiff e-reader---

No Skiff? damn, what r u gonna tell me next, no HP Slate?
Oh and what of the Courier?
@InspectorEngadget
But it use e-ink display, so does it means its ebook reading experience will be the same as Kindle?
@InspectorEngadget Where does it say they have to have E-Ink to be an E-Reader. I know they both share an E but that E stands for electronic and I believe this E-Reader is electronic. And if that is true what about PixelQI displays? It is neither an E-Reader or a Tablet. (!) Those devices should be called Realets.
Any word on the Price Laura?

If i can get my subscription to Cat Fancy on it, I'm gonna buy 1.
@Elduderino2412
Your cat deserves a capacitive screen for its paws, if this is a cheap responsive screen (which I suspect) it will need to use its claws to swipe and we know what happens then. Your pu**y deserves better :)
"e-book reader in in China"
Sorry to point out a simple typo, but this is the third typo I've seen published in 24 hours. These articles DO get proof read prior to publishing, right? I wouldn't mind if mistakes actually get corrected.
@PaulMdx They generally do.
low res LCD screen on a dedicated e-reader? no thanks.
1080p Output through HDMI... is it running some sort of proprietary basic OS so it can have a browser? How will it access said 1080p content... (other than from internal memory/storage card)?
Looks like an updated Alurtek Cinepal. I suspect it will do about the same in sales as the Cinepal if it's priced competitively against current e-reader (ie ~$150).

Professional Engrish is even funnier than normal.
OMG they spliced the film sideways!
OK, so is this really two devices - a color (LCD) version and a black & white E Ink version?
Also, wtf does 'bettery' mean? Is that a botched transalation of 'better' or 'battery'?
@kp kp kp its engrish for better AND battery, that way its more efficient and takes less space.
@anku that?
attractive looking device is attractive looking, heh

bonus points if they throw android on it. really, how can you even dare to call something an e reader if it has1080p video playback. it`s like calling the iPad an e reader, it`s a tablet with e reader functionality.
