I plan on getting one just to say it is not an iPad. I love Apple but I am sick of them a little- need something fresh and new- then I'll switch back when this crap fails.
You think its strange? Um... ever heard of the Zune? It's whole reason for being is socially awkward MS fanboys trying to declare their 'different' from the rest... cuz they have a Zune.
No body cares, in the end, you're stuck with a botched product (Win Tablets), and for what... to show someone that you're an insecure geek?
Just Ignore Wesscoast. He is completely entrenched in the Religion of Steve Jobs. Anything made by anyone other then Apple is crap by his logic.
If HP tries to make this an iPad Competitor, it will fail. Apple has entrenched people with the iTunes Market into their products, so it's stupid trying to compete with them on the same platform. HP needs to make the Slate a productivity device like a single LCD version of the Courier and it will likely sell well.
@Jamesky Actually it's not that strange at all. You are going with the side of wanting to say that something is crap because you used it. NOT because it was made by X, Y or Z or wasn't made by them.
I see a lot of "Apple is shite" or "Android is shite" talk around the blogs. And 90% of the time when called on it, the person admits they have never used the thing they are dissing. Makes it hard to take them seriously.
@Jamesky I wonder how many potential customers they lost to the iPad or other due to the rumor that it was axed and their failure to do anything to dispute that rumor until now. Idiots!
HP has had plenty of time to fine-tune its finger-friendly TouchSmart software, and now, its newest model, the TouchSmart 610, ushers in a fresh design, highlighted by a hinge that allows the display to slide down and lie nearly flat.

Strange logic.
@Jamesky
Indeed but not unheard of in the geek world.

@Wesscoast OR, maybe some people just wanted an mp3 with a radio, and liked the options of the Pass.
But what do I know?

@MBN I'm thinking there was intentional harm done by spreading all the FUD about the Slate being vaporware.
