Guru'board cancels Miniguru keyboard project
It seemed like a bit of a longshot when it was announced back in January, and Guru'board has unfortunately now confirmed those fears -- the Miniguru keyboard project has been canceled. In case you missed it, the Miniguru was designed to be a completely customizable keyboard that would basically let you keep your fingers on the home row at all times (a modifier key would let you turn JKLI keys into arrows, and the caps lock into control). True to its name, they keyboard would have also been small, and it seemed like it would have been fairly high-end, with three different types of mechanical key switches available. As for the reason for the cancellation, Guru'board says it simply "lost faith in being able to sell the initial production run."

@Humlegumpen
Oh fuck off.
I would buy that!
@elibi Me two!
Me three!
@elibi
Me googolplex
This is a real shame, as it's a really good idea! I'm currently doing exactly that with the arrow keys on my regular keyboard (mapping j,k,l, and i to the arrows, and using CapsLock as a sort of Fn key), using AutoHotKey.
It would be lovely to have something hardware based though, and a smaller keyboard to go with it.
Hopefully someone else can take this up.
@Lundmark What is your problem? I want the world go get the good feeling I get from using Appleware:) What is so wrong about that? If we all used Apple, we could go around be happy:) Everybody would go around with a smile:) So fuck off if you like crapware! We have no use for you in our world!
@Humlegumpen Lay off the Drank.
@Lundmark
Robin Williams?? Is that you?!?
The Happy Hacking keyboard (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Happy_Hacking_Keyboard) by Fujitsu should be a pretty good replacement for this.
@dimension6
Happy Hacking keyboard does not have mechanical switches, nor does it have a trackpoint, which were two main selling points for this keyboard. Too bad it was cancelled, I would have paid anything under $350 for it.
The nipple/outie-navel is weird.
@Squalor
best pointing device EVAR.
@Mr Oblong
second that, but only on thinkpads, Dell etc just aren't as good

Humlegumpen, I thought you were joking. Then I checked your comment history - "Microsoft i shit, Apple is hit"
Real question: how did you find this site?
@The People Who Want to Reply to Humlegumpen: It's ironic that I'm replying despite my forthcoming caveat: Just vote down his comment(s), and move on; there is no need to reply. He is looking for attention that we should not give him. It is obvious by his history he isn't really a fan of Apple; he's just some guy who's bored, and he's taken it upon himself to spam and make Apple fans look dumb.
@Squalor Heck no! Apple is good, they get the well worth good articles it needs to succeed. Apple is good, others are bad, they don't rise that high overall userfeedback, so clearly I know right, and you are wrong. What good have others done that Apple haven't? If Apple don't do it, it's not worth doing!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooo!!!!! I've been waiting on this keyboard since it debuted, not because of the customization but because of the sweet size and design.
Guess I'll have to get a Happy Hacker Keyboard.
@statelypenguin
Same here :( Been waiting for this since the designer built a working prototype on the geekhack forums. The sad part is that it's not vaporware; it clearly works. I guess I'll have to go with a compact Filco Majestouch.
Please make that production run. I'll buy three.
@Humlegumpen You are exactly the reason why Apple fans get a bad rap!! STFU FOO!
@Humlegumpen
no but seriously, who cares about the droid x?
its uglier than susan boyle, doesnt fit in pockets, and runs the ugliest OS on the planet. android looks hacked together, so i guess its a perfect fit for a piece of plastic shIt.
...sa shame they have to discontinue :(
@MicrosoftOwns & @Humlegumpen
Obvious troll is obvious. You both bore me, amateurs.
I wonder if something like this could use kickstart or whatever to gauge and fund production runs?
@charlieangel Kickstarter requires a US bank account, the guy doing this is in Germany.
@Humlegumpen
Is that a money hat you're wearing?
