@MicrosoftOwns "ugly and stupid" sounds like someone whose opinion doesn't matter, sense on android atleast can be turned off, for windows mobile, you can pretty much change anything you want on it so sense being there or not doesnt really matter. IMO I wish they would just give an option to have sense or not, I know some days I like sense and some days I dont (days when other phones get updates)
@MicrosoftOwns Oh, poor bebe. Sounds like you're upset at this development. Don't worry though, most everyone else couldn't care less about this. Though I'm sure a few will definitely be happy.
I read an interview with them a couple weeks back, basically it sounded like they were going to make some custom tiles and hubs that will incorporate some of the functions within Sense. It isn't a custom skin though, just preloaded tiles and hubs. I hope that is the case.
@MicrosoftOwns sense is the only way to even use windows mobile 6.1 6.5 and adds a great deal to android i wish it could ban idiot trolls like you though
@strawe In the past 20 stories I've read he has always been down ranked the faster than anyone else. Holy Crap dude give your sh*ty comments a rest will ya.
@DefPoet It does indeed at alot to android. As a Nexus One owner I wish I could have Sense. On the other hand, Google is not really banking on android to make tons of money so Android is not exactly a polished OS. WP7 however is being developed with alot of MS's ressources and they are putting much more effort in the user experience than Google has.I dont think it would be a good idea for HTC to add sense to WP7. It would be like adding sense to an iphone. IMHO it would ruin the experience. I use have an iphone and i jailbroke it to add lock screen widgets and the like but you can't drastically change a UI by slapping on a layer on top and expecting it to run as smoothly. MS is spending alot of money on optimizing everything and making the UI as consistent as possible. Why would I want to have a hardware company add a layer on top of this? Sounds to me like the bloatware you get from Dell and HP computers.
If you don't like the UI of an OS use an OS you like. Seems silly to me to add layers to OSs as meticulously created and as closed as WP7 or iOS for that matter.
@Matt314 You know what. CHILL THE HELL OUT!!! There are two business models here. 1 the hardware makers need to sell lots of phones through consistent refresh cycles to keep their shareholders happy. So get ready to ebay your W7 phone every 3 months. 2 Windows is just looking for advertising as new updates to their mobile OS drops. MS doesn't even give a fuck about hardware on the phones. IMHO, this W7 phone is just a gimmick to keep eyes and ears open about them in the mobile space. Shit, you see how much press Endgadget gives the current line of smart phones!
From what I know Microsoft said they wouldn't allow anything to "takeover" the knew UI, since it was probably the strongest selling point for windows phone 7, but I do recall them saying there would apps that would specific to certain makers. So I would imagine that all this sense on WP7 would be is a clock tile or something along the lines of that, and I think they would make it easily removable. I'm not worried, I think if you buy a WP7 with the sense it would be as easy as unpinning a couple tiles from the start screen.
Then buy and iPhone and call it a day. In this market differentiation is key to survival. And if you doubt that, just look at HTC stock year over year in a down economy. They must be doing something right. Written from my lovely Sense UI laden Evo!
@DefPoet That is your opinion, the other is his opinion (though obviously a troll so I doubt it really is his opinion). Me, personally, I don't understand why Sense is as big with people as it is. On Windows Mobile I always preferred using complete replacement shells (example: Winterinterface, SPB Mobile)
My point is that people should stop thinking their opinion supersede other people's opinions, however, I guess the irony in that is that it is an opinion.
@Matt314 You are off your rocker if you don't think Google is banking on Android making them tons of money....they have A LOT invested in mobile and Android is their window into that world. The Android User experience is fantastic and I think Google is taking that extremely seriously.
I don't think you have any idea what you are talking about
I think it's pretty neat that they'll get to customize it. Somewhat obviously I don't think that the regular sense would gel with the newer features but I can see why HTC might want to continue some of the better optimizations it's customers are used to. Might even have somewhat better social networking integration than the regular Windows Phone 7. And anyways, the company that basically saved Windows Mobile from being long, long, dead getting some special treatment from MS makes...sense.
Why? samer reson as always. No mfgr is intererested in segling win-mo or android phones. Samsung wants to sell Samsung phones, HTC wants to sell HTC phones and so on. The need to stand out in some Way. Look at touchwiz, its the same in android bada and soon in win-mo.
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
why?
@jjasper123
Dear HTC, You better make Windows 7 pretty
@jjasper123 Could look like this: http://pocketnow.com/html/portal/news/0000010944//WP7startscreen_Sense.jpg
@Steve Jobs Clone
Good news indeed! I'm not sure I would be happy with the extremely plain minimalistic look of the new winmo. An alternative look would be nice!
@jjasper123
wtf????? sense is ugly and stupid, htc isnt a software company
i thought it was in the requirements that you couldnt modify the software?
@jjasper123
theyre going to ruin the whole look of wp7, it doesnt need a dam clock taking up half the screen
@jjasper123
any hardware changes?
if not, no thank you
@MicrosoftOwns
Although HTC specalizes in hardware they do have a department dedicated to software such as OS's for the phones, and the skins
@MicrosoftOwns
Your troll tears are delicious and nutritious!
@Aklex7
what im saying is they shouldnt focus on skins when there are entire companies dedicated to perfecting the experience.

@Dafrety i like HTC sense

@jjasper123
its something that delays the software updates, its a middleman, its a battery drain, its ugly and ruins the cohesiveness of a ui
i still dont understand this because its in the hardware requirements to keep the os software the same (to eliminate fragmentation)
@jjasper123
THIS DOESN'T MAKE SENSE
I want Windows Phone 7 not Windows Phone 7 with Sense.
@jjasper123 Like tomato ketchup on kobe beef.
@jjasper123
Sounds to me like Mr. Drew Bamfrod doesn't know shit. Not only on WP7, but on Giingerbread too?
@MicrosoftOwns
sense is the only way to even use windows mobile 6.1 6.5 and adds a great deal to android i wish it could ban idiot trolls like you though
@strawe In the past 20 stories I've read he has always been down ranked the faster than anyone else. Holy Crap dude give your sh*ty comments a rest will ya.
@Federaly
Good news, you will be able to unpin Sense like you can on Android or Windows Mobile if you don't like it.

Just my two cents.
@jjasper123 YES! Nice! I like Sense and I'm excited for WP7.
@MicrosoftOwns Disable it if you don't like it.
@jjasper123 So you can have THREE clocks on the same screen.
@RhymeMaster
*rimshot*
@jjasper123 Doesn't make SENSE to you? LOL.
@Steve Jobs Clone
I think you've hit the nail on the head. They are going to work with what they have and make it fit with what's there.
@Matt314
You know what. CHILL THE HELL OUT!!!

@anotherworld
You are late sir.
@MicrosoftOwns actually it may not everyone can see that small clock.
From what I know Microsoft said they wouldn't allow anything to "takeover" the knew UI, since it was probably the strongest selling point for windows phone 7, but I do recall them saying there would apps that would specific to certain makers. @Federaly
And do you have sense at all?
@Masterdebated Isn't Microsoft the company that made Windows Vista?
@MicrosoftOwns Will go for dell now....
@dat CRAZY N1NJA
yea im on windows vista right now. best OS other than 7. whats your point?
Then buy and iPhone and call it a day. In this market differentiation is key to survival. And if you doubt that, just look at HTC stock year over year in a down economy. They must be doing something right. Written from my lovely Sense UI laden Evo!
@MicrosoftOwns
The only Microsoft phones I ever liked were made by HTC. The stock UI for WinMo is about as useless as 99% of your comments.
@estarkey7
htc isnt even a public company or listed on any stock index, idiot
@MicrosoftOwns Sense would allow you to set clock to smaller size; the technology is here.
@MicrosoftOwns
Pure trolling BS !!!

Here ya go.

Is bing not finding results?
If you ever flashed you winmo with a cooked ROM you would applaud this... My Diamond and Touch HD (Blackstone) kills iphone thanks to my heroes at xda... check this out : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=562952 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=630901

@jjasper123 FML luckily no one was going to buy htc devices anyway looking at those dell redners
