Panasonic's consumer-grade 3D camcorder leaks out, the HDC-SDT750
We'd heard Panasonic was planning a more affordable stereoscopic 3D camcorder, but it looks like we won't have to wait until a mysterious July 28th Tokyo unveiling to find out for sure -- it's called the HDC-SDT750, and Panny's advertising it as the "World's first 3D Shooting Camcorder." Leaks at all the seams of the company's website afforded us the above picture, and the surprising revelation that the product may not be a brand-new camcorder, but rather an existing high-end 3MOS model (we'd guess the HDC-HS700) with a "3D conversion lens" attached. If the yet-to-be-activated product page's source code can be believed, the SDT750 will shoot in 1080p AVCHD at 60fps, feature Panny's proprietary Hybrid O.I.S. image stabilization technology, and come in a lovely shade of Henry Ford black. That's all we have for now (save a second tiny picture after the break) but rest assured we'll be keeping tabs on this one.
Update: Looks as if even more images and purported specifications have leaked out ahead of the official reveal.
[Thanks, John]

Won't cost less than $1,000 though!
@krishansy $1000 so I can see that im fat on tv.
If 2d adds 10 lbs will this add 20lbs?
@PyRo1509
No ... you don't multiply 10 by 2, you cube it.
So, it will add 1000 lbs.
@pple is poo
I thought we entered the 'next' decade.
@pple is poo Also, nobody has a 3d TV.
@Shalabi 60 inch, 1080p 3D dlp for $900.
@Meekermoloko
Not to make fun of you or anything but
10^2 = 100
Now we can watch terrible amateur movies in 3D when we're tired of the mostly terrible professional 3D movies.
@Squalor http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEnCKEfSgUM
@Squalor
God your not kidding, youtube is about to get even more rediculous......
@Squalor No we can't, because we don't have 3d tvs.
@pple is poo I have to say.... Japan is #1. They're coming out with 3D PORN.
i want one how much?
I can finally see my ass in 3d :D
@ramia: Just turn around: your ass is already in 3D.
@ramia
Yes! I can finally upload my amatuer p0rn in 3D!
@Skeptic please don't, you'll break the internet tubes
@Skeptic hey buddy in order to make a amateur p0rn you need a girl first
@Skeptic
Only if the girls are hot, please.
@VAVA Mk 2 Girls?
@Squalor
That would be 4D
@Squalor LMFAO!!!
@Squalor
5D if you add smell
@finishhim27
Actually, 4 double D
Strap that to the top of a rifle and im in.
In my opinion 3D is irrelevant ( bar the odd blockbuster movie ala Avatar) until 3D televisions that don't require glasses are perfected and somewhat mainstream. Until then I refuse to get on board. It's not that I don't like 3D, in fact I think it's a bigger jump than SD to HD, it's just that the glasses are a huge block for one. They completely ruin any immersion into the movie/game/video for me. I got a chance to play the 3DS at E3 and was blown away so I'm really looking forward to the day I can finally get on board the 3D train. It just isn't today.
@TheLeprachaun That's my exact opinion!
Instead of making this Panasonic, why don't you make an affordable high speed camera? Slow-mo is way cooler than some stereoscopic 3D. I'm this close to buying Casios EX-F1 high speed camera, but it's quite expensive, and it's a shame that it has to cut the rez pretty low to be able to shoot at 1200 fps. But at 300 fps the rez is at least reasonable for uploading to Youtube. It's a pity this technology is that expensive, because slow motion is pretty darn cool!
@Icyyy it's pretty cool but I dont think its something the mass consumer will pay 1k for. people want to record their graduations and birthdays. Except for blowing out candles I don't want 1000fps of a kids running in circles hitting themselves or whatever kids do now days.
Slow mo is a cool add on feature. I would pay a little bit more for that feature, it'd be fun. But not a dedicated camera.
@TheLeprachaun
SD to HD was a big jump for me. Personally, 3some isn't that bit of a deal. The depth is just barely noticeable and the draw distance seems awkward in a lot of movies. Guess its something that some people love and some feel "key" about.
@TheLeprachaun Yeah, if i remember correctly they had one of those expensive projects in microsoft research to make one, you know, one of those projects who wont see the light of day, but i'm more interested to know what kind of 3d lens is that? i mean it will switch between 2 lenses with a prism for 30 times in a second? i guess 60p is for 2 30p of each angle.
@arash I mean if the lens have a prism and its a 3mos sensor with a prism it will be 2 prism, wouldn't be my cup of 3d
Will use the 3DS camera instead.
There was a 3D still camera a bunch of years ago and of 12 pictures shot, you got a couple that looked in 3D. But it required special processing and paper which eventually killed it.
3D is still interesting but it's largely a niche looking for left over disposable income. Even the stuff in the theater, albeit cute has no life to it and none of it enhances the storyline.
I saw Avatar in 3D because people talked about how cool that was. The movie was off the chain but the 3D was basic and mad lame. Didn't help any of the story and if it can't do that, why even have it?
It's still too young and weak IMHO.
BTW, was I supposed to return the 3D glasses? I did but they were bent a little..
i'll just keep making stick figure flip books of all my family memories. on a side note, is anyone else annoyed about panasonic and samsung being called panny and sammy? i think i'm just having a crotchety sunday
@anothermurph Oh, panny & sammy, how romantic, will they marry in the end?
Where is my holo camera so that I can get 360 degree 3D, including on the far side of objects?
Thanks Engadget that you featured me :)
You're welcome John :P, I too was featured, I send in the droid-x sold out
:D
I showed it to everyone I know!
*sent
@TheCake Cool!
Isn't this technically a 4-D camera since it records Time as well?
;)
You had me at 1080p 60fps!
Surprised that the lenses that close together can make usable 3D imagery. I was under the impression they had to be further than your eyes are apart.
@Pingles
I'm working on PIRATES 4 and in many cases, we're shooting with interaxial spacings of less than ONE INCH.
@mr3d Is that why it's going to suck?
@mr3d Is it epic or red one still? but how could be one inch? even with mirror
Typical "me first" claims from the ignorant.
The first 3D camcorder marketed to the masses was the Toshiba STEREOGRAPHIC CAMCORDER SK-3D7, which came out circa 1990. I have one.
Shot sequential (SQ) on VHS-C.
Finally now I can have 3d girls and 1 cup
Suck Apple my D**K you can.
Yet another 3D camcorder without an interocular setting. James Cameron will be very sad.
If you make movies with this contraption, your viewers will puke.
