Samsung TV schedule points to Epic 4G in August?

On August 20th, at 4:30PM Eastern Standard Time, Samsung will show off the Epic 4G smartphone on their television support website. Why is this of interest to you? Simply because the last two times the company did such a thing -- for the Vibrant and Captivate, respectively -- these infomercials all but coincided with the phones' planned release date. We wouldn't go around making any wagers if we were you, but if someone asks you when we might see a Galaxy S with a physical keyboard, you'll be able to make a ballpark estimate instead of pulling numbers out of your hat. Not to be a fanboy or anything, but one reason people don't like DROID phones is because it takes less than a month for a new one to come out and obsolete the purchase you thought was...epic.

Didn't EVO 4G just come out (sans 4G network)?
Didn't DROID X just come out claiming to be the best DROID available?

I have some news...in friday night me and my buddy called d sprint to activate a phone that I had to put on his account. We asked when the epic will be coming out she said mid august. We mentioned how bad ass the phone looks and she mentioned that it can do 3d images.we were surprised and asked her to confirm and she said yes she read it on their training. Wow! This phone just got bad ass

Actually the DROID's are verizon phones.
The EVO and EPIC are sprint android phones. Two diff networks, with diff options. You can't get a DROID X on sprint. Plus they are made by diff manufactures.
DROID X -motorola
DROID- motorola
DROID incredible -htc
EVO- htc
EPIC-samsung

If by DROID you mean Android, than maybe. But if by "best DROID" you mean best offering from the "droid" family than yes, but the Droid X isn't better than the Evo. Though, some may prefer the X for various reasons.

And sans 4G? Had 4G since day 1.

I bought an Evo on release day but if I like the Epic more, then why would I get angry? Ever hear of Craigslist and eBay? I love what I have but options are good! Epic, Windows Phone 7, WebOS 2.0, bring it on!

@nuclearopts Just because a new Android phone comes out it doesn't make yours obsolete. The Incredible still has a snapdragon processor. The fact that Samsung's releasing the Epic 4G doesn't change that.

Options are good, not bad.

my AT&T contract expires in early August. 4G is planned for Grand Rapids this "summer," which could be into Sept., i suppose. so, August 20th is fine with me as the Epic is well worth the wait.

You haven't been with the company very long then. District Managers don't know squat until the last minute. Best people to actually ask are SRSS's, and their supervisors. They have to get the phone in advance so they can teach techs how to take it apart for repair. Saw an Epic 3 months ago so...AND I know the exact date it launches because there is a small software patch coming out the day after...just like the EVO.

To add, seeing the phone 3 months ago, i've already disassembled it and reassembled it. We are getting middle sliders and whole tops halfs with the screen intact for repairs, somewhere around October-ish, right after we get Pre and EVO parts finally in.

@TheNexxuvas Been with the company over a year. In Manhattan DMs are close to SRSSs. They communicate a lot. I seen the Epic myself about a month ago, 2 Samsung reps had it. Oct also seen the Sanyo Android phone, the Zio.

A friend of mine just got an advocate epic, most sprint phones are released 30 days after the advocate phone is given to the employee, so Aug. 20th sounds about right.

@Xcharles718 I'm 99% sure advo devices haven't shipped yet. They usually arrive the same day nationwide, they did with the Evo. And my store hasn't received it yet. I could be wrong about the same day thing though

@subzero1313 Advocates have not arrived, they were just ordered last week. There are now 2 advocate programs, 1 for sales side, 1 for the backroom aka techs. The advocates have not arrived yet as of today at 1 when I saw inventory, so...take that story with a grain of salt.Like I have said, pre bulk manufacturing hardware is out, SRSS's have had them for around 3-4 months, as well as CE Forums lab testers as I communicate with them daily over the "special communications" section we have with them that a lot of regular employees don't know about/have access to.
