Not only is it visible.... but I was under the impression that it is conductive as well - thus the screen is still usable. Seems if that was the case it would be unlikely to make the situation any better.
@PeterJames The skin only applies to the sides of the phone. It's pretty clear from the diagram provided. This skin has nothing to do with the screen of the phone.

@PeterJames seems like it would be fairly easy to simply make the plastic nonconductive. easier than making the plastic conductive...
