Someone should really tell T-Mobile USA it's got a rather large hole that needs plugged. Hot on the heels of the (presumably)
T-Mob-bound G1 Blaze leak comes this duo, which includes a purported leak of the myTouch HD (or 3G HD) as well as a web portal that quite clearly prepares us for the launch of the carrier's
first HSPA+ smartphone. Of course, there's no official confirmation that the handset you're peering at above is anything more than a fan render, but it certainly has a look of authenticity to it; sadly, there aren't any rumored specifications to tag alongside the JPG, but it's a pretty safe bet that this one will run some flavor of
Android and rely heavily on screen presses for letter input. As for the promo page? Scrutineers have drawn a link between it and the Vanguard that we
peeked a few weeks back, so feel free to let your imagination run a bit wild there. Looks like it's gearing up to be quite the second half for America's number two GSM operator.
[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]
shiny !!!
@Nanosman1994
Yes, very nice looking... although, the device seems a bit narrow.
@Nanosman1994
Aye, did you notice the front facing camera?
@ineedthatthing I mean it's no Evo, but what is?
@Nanosman1994
This is great news, though I'd rather have the Blaze since it's got the keyboard i desperately need. Also hoping it's the HSPA+ phone they're talking about. I mean... the word "blaze" does suggest ludicrous speeds doesn't it? Only time will tell I guess...
@ineedthatthing
FYI for all you guys to know, that is a front facing camera. PROOF!

@Son Of a Gun
One day, Evo will meet its match
cough*Dual-Core processors made by Qualcomm has been confirmed*cough
That was a long cough
crap, i just bought the vibrant too.
@skyblaze I'm starting to think a physical keyboard is not such a nice thing. I have 4 separate keys on my g1 that are flakey. I have to push them 4 or 5 times to get them to work =( Granted my G1 is old and has been dropped a few times but still it's becoming an annoyance.
@Xtole I've been tempted to pick that up. Still not clear on whether or not the vibrant is HSPA+ there's some dubious language on t-mobile's site saying it will take advantage of the hspa+ network and the drones at the t-mobile kiosk said it was HSPA+
That uncertainty and the lack of a flash (and front facing camera) have me waiting. Still the vibrant certainly has a beautiful screen.
@tad604
That's really strange. I've never had a problem with my G1 keys... its arguably been the best typing experience I've had on a handset (rivaled by my touch pro2... though I may be a bit biased since the G1 was my first phone)
I've moved on to the Nexus One since I wanted the most optimal Android experience... but I still make tons of mistakes... and I type so much slower... I switched back to my G1 about a week ago and realized just how much I missed hardware typing... I just couldn't re-adapt since I was so used to my Nexus's way better screen and balls to the wall processing power... so something like the Blaze which gives the best of both worlds seems to be the perfect remedy for me
@tad604 The Vibrant does not support hspa+, but like all T-Mobile Android phones can do hspa 7.2Mbps. Sort of like a backwards compatible game console boosting frame rates on an older game.
@JaylanPHNX Ah... that makes sense and probably explains the confusion from the kiosk drones.
I'm starting rethink my decision to not get the vibrant. None of the "leaked phones" look as nice as what I was expecting. I'd like to see at least a 4" screen. The Super Amoled screen on the Vibrant look gorgeous and from what I gather the hummingbird > snapdragon. I just wish it had a front facing camera (and flash).
@tad604 I was sitting on the fence about the Vibrant too for reasons I've mentioned right here in Engadget forums (no camera flash, Android 2.1 etc..) But ultimately, after seeing the G1 Blaze, I decided to go for it and bought the phone. The Vibrant is truly one of the best Android phones you can buy. Because we all know better phones are on the horizon as well as Android 3.0, I'm going to keep my old phone (Nexus One) because it will surely get 3.0 first. But between the Hummingbird 1GHZ Processor (which seems to be a bit better than the SnapDragon in my N1), the drop dead gorgeous screen, the 16GBs of internal storage with 1.7GBs that's reserved for apps, the Vibrant is a damn good phone.
With this new MyTouch though...put Android 2.2 on it at launch or 3.0 with a 1.5ghz CPU, 16GBs of storage and 1GB of DDR3, with a Super Hyper Ultra LCD screen and I'd be tempted to grab that too.
@ineedthatthing It already has and its called the Samsung Galaxy S. The Epic will be the best Android has to offer here in about a month.
@Xtole This is only supposed to have a 1 Ghz Snapdragon (which is nice) the Samsung phones will be contenders for a long while. I think you made the right choice.
@Plazmic Flame
I think this matches the silhouette of the supposed first HSPA+ Device perfectly. Take a look.

@Kiron
Looked at the image and while they seem very possible to be the same device, why in the world is the one on the left wider?? If it turns out to be the one on the left, then that's great.
@tad604 It will handle the 7.2 MBps, but not the full HSPA+ upgrade to 21MBps. Still, damned beautiful phone. I am also a drone for T-Mobile. I just happen to also know my stuff.
@tad604 also has a 90 million triangle per sec gpu,3 x's more gpu power than even iphone 4's capability specially made games for them too. made to use all that gpu's ability is insane,3 generation or maybe 2 ahead of whats out now,but as you said the front camera just kind of crippled it.
Keep the vibrant trust me
This is the my touch slide. Its a good phone, but nothing as great as the vibrant.
@Androidsugly Seriously how many times do you have to be banned, you could at least try to be clever we all know its you no matter which name you decide to use: MicrosoftOwns, MicrosoftOwns2, Android looks Hacked Together, fragmented, BecauseItsNotGoogle, FragmentedAndroid, annoynimous, account5. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go away or at least get away from android post!
It's aspect ratio looks whack.
@Mekkel Richards 16:9
@Evster88 Actually it almost looks like that weird LG phone that was like 21:9
@Evster88
It almost looks like its even beyond 16.
Yay more WiFi's
That is possibly the dullest looking smartphone I have ever seen :|
@hammydbest The image is opaque, the phone is of a dark color, the screen is off, and there is a dash of blurriness going on... On my view, even the iPhone 4, the EVO 4G or Shakira will look dull under these circumstances.
@hammydbest and thats automatically a bad thing?
@Androidsugly I got a G1 and are currently using an HD2. Is that dull and boring to you also? would like some pick flames flared across the back of your phone or something? I dont get it. :/
it floats!
@repo105 its got alil evo in it
@repo105
flux capacitor on-board
I'm 12 and wat is HPPAS
From the interwebs:
HPPAs = High Power Proton Accelerators
This could be wicked. I actually like the MyTouch Slide but the only thing that prevented me from buying it was the absence of a 1GHz processor. I know for some it may not be necessary but I do want to have the phone for a little while - at least a year. The keyboard is awesome on the Slide - something to be seem to be amiss here.
Would it be cool if manufacturers gave us the option now to customize our phones a la Dell?
To be able to decide whether to have physical keyboard or not, camera or no camera, type of processor. I don't know how feasible or profitable is to head that way, but on my opinion and desire, it would be cool.
I congratulate T-Mobile for lately arming itself with some cool phone and for being a fervent Android Supporter.
***DROOOOOOOOIIIIIIIIIDDDDDDDDDD****
@TikiTeko
I can't imagine that level of customization being anything close to what you are describing. Not being in the cellular phone manufacturing business I can only guess but adding a 2nd hard drive into a PC has to be easier that swapping out camera optics on a cell phone.
@TikiTeko
I second that congratulations, and imagine just how fast T-Mobile can grow if they actually end up adding the iPhone to the line up.
*** FYI You now owe George Lucas money***
@bjsguess Blackberry seems to be able to do it. It was also an example. We could also talk about color, and other things. Maybe, if you wanted to have a customized version you would have to wait a bit on processing and shipping (like when you order a PC from Dell).
I see how it would be a desirable option for people like me that like to have the presence of a physical QWERY. I think it would be nice to be able to buy a Vibrant with a physical keyboard (not with the option of moving to Sprint for the 4G version coming there).
Just a thought.
@TPAYNE87 Darn it. I owe him a lot of money with my constant Star Wars references.
This phone is da sith!
VANGUARD!!! VANGUARD!!!
From page source:
LOL
"Mytouch" sounds like a toy. But i guess that works on TeenMobile.
@Heavy Metal Machine
People like to make fun of the t-mobile's phones but the mytouch slide and the samsung vibrant are pretty powerful, user friendly, and customizable.
WTF, You call my Touch a freaking Smartphone, its more like a kids phone.
Aye, did you guys notice the front facing camera?
Is that a front facing camera on the top left??
@TheSunman89 I mean right....
@TheSunman89
yes, yes it is. Go to androidcentral.com, they have an image close up showing the sensors and the ffc.
Really hoping it doesn't look like that... at least gives us a maroon color! Lol
