Apple's Magic Trackpad gets the iFixit teardown treatment, nothing terribly magical found
Well, we knew it wouldn't take very long, and it didn't: iFixit's gotten its hands on Apple's Magic Trackpad and ripped it to shreds. This is one operation they're not shy about calling delicate, folks -- this thing is seriously thin and its components packed in quite lovingly. So what's going on in there? Well, besides the magical dust, they found a Broadcom BCM2042 chip, which is the same one the Magic Mouse uses for Bluetooth connectivity, and a Broadcom BCM5974 touchscreen controller chip, which also powers the iPhone and iPod touch. There is plenty to be seen in the photos at the source, and there's one more below.

Check again Engadget. I can see pixie dust and tiny elves in the corners.
On a serious note - can anyone who owns this write their impressions. I like the idea of operating an HTPC from the couch using it.
Unreal. It's a trackpad. Do they take a bamboo tablet apart? What about the latest logitech mouse or a Microsoft webcam? No I didn't think so. Engadget and gizmodo are just overboard on apple these days. Thank god for toms hardware
@Marklitt Don't like it, do your own blog.
If they attached this to their Bluetooth keyboard (which is actually pretty good) and sold the whole thing for $100 I would get up, go to my car, and drive to Best Buy *right now* and buy one. Since Apple price gouges the shit out of their customers though it'll never happen, which sucks. I can't justify spending $70 on the keyboard and $70 on this trackpad when I spent $70 on my Logitech Bluetooth keyboard which has a fucking trackpad built into it.
There is no magics in the world. People's believe makes what happen
where do you live that you actually shop at beasty buy...and yes i spelt it right..that is another thing about apple price control,if I want a mouse I am free to buy whatever I want at whatever price, yes I know you guys can now but you wouldn't have the label.....with the light saying look what I have..it lights up
i will get a windows and Linux compatible track pad which is 10x bigger than this beautifully crafter peice of s____ for 10$
