BeagleBoard finds new purpose in DIY wearable computer
We've already seen the small and flexible BeagleBoard used for a couple of different DIY projects, but few quite as impressive as this wearable computer built by Martin Magnusson. In addition to complementing any outfit, this rig runs Angstrom Linux, uses a modified pair of Myvu Crystal video glasses (and some stylish shades) for a display, and simply relies on a Bluetooth keyboard for input and a tethered iPhone for internet connectivity. Of course, if the shoulder strap isn't your thing, Martin has also demonstrated that the rig can discreetly fit in a standard CD case -- check it out after the break, and hit up the source link below for a look at the complete build process.

I was thinking more along the lines of:
We are the Borg. Lower your shields and surrender your vessels. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service us.
@Mentat When Oprah said "they have over 9000 penises" on live national television it was the most epic and disturbing thing ever to be heard
@WilliamNighthawk
Nuh uh! I did this almost 6 months ago! Why the heck didn't I make it into an article on Engadget?

OMG look what he's wearing its hideous!!! There is no way you could go out in public with that and not get made fun of. The wearable computer looks interesting though.
Looks pretty cool actually, very cyberprep
I think this would be way cooler if he didn't wear a shirt covered in flowers.
@Kizorblade I think it would look better on a soldier or a buff person
Gooooooot
Oh, "that" CD case?!
If I learned one thing from Snow Crash, it's that no one likes a [censored] gargoyle.
@harkening I'm glad I wasn't the only one to immediately think this.
New purpose? Chastity Belt.
So, that's what being assimilated looks like. I think I prefer seven of nine.
I shat bricks.
Or he could just ditch the strap and use the iPhone he is tethering to...
@batmobile You know if this site had mod points and I had those mod points I'd use them all on this comment.
@TheQuestor
He can't, since he needs to hold it using the death grip.
This guy gets all the giggity, I am so sure of it.
and just how is this thing useful?
If i want truly portable mobile computing i can use my smartphone
@Mentat When oprah said "they have over 9000 penises"on live national television. it was the most epic and disturbing thing anyone will ever hear from a television

This is one of the most beautiful and hysterical comment sections I've read in a while.
The nerdbot came from the future to infiltrate hipsters' bookstore coffeshops.
Resistance is futile... The perfect outfit for the office IT guy you love to hate ;-).
Nothing says "GEEK" like 5 pounds of visible hardware.
