Ewee-PT is how you say 'Segway' in German (video)
Billed as "the Segway's little sister," this self-balancing electro scooter comes from a small German company called Ewee. The idea behind it is pretty simple: file down all the extraneous bits, keep the stuff that keeps you going, and presumably try to sell it to hardy macho types who like the barebones aesthetic. You accelerate by leaning forward and decelerate by doing the opposite, while steering is handled by a joystick (apparently "driving pleasure is gauranteed"). We're not sure how much trust we're willing to invest in either the company or its product, but exclusive retailer fun-components does have it ready for pre-order today, so if you're feeling adventurous with your €799 ($1,039), feel free to pay their site a visit. The rest of us are going after the break to watch the video.
fun-mobility will be more attractive
- Segways little sister -
The ewee-PT - segway-like but although very different: Most compact and flexible, the little personal transporter (PT) reaches a speed of at least 16km/h.
Riding this little scooter is very simple: just lean forward for accelerate the ewee smoothly and leaning backward will slow down. Steering will be done easily with a joystick – it feels like a game console -– driving pleasure is guaranteed.
The capabilities of the ewee-PT are endless: Indoor using as well as outdoor explorations will be possible. Long ways in factory halls, airports or shopping malls will be done very comfortably and quickly. And of course you will enjoy sight seeing tours and beach promenades much more without increasing air pollution.
The ewee-PT with its size of a paper sheet will carry you safely like going on rails because of the dynamic stabilization system (SFS). It reaches a max. speed of 16 km/h with a cruising range of nearly 8km.
Delivery will be pre-assembled, so that within a few steps the ewee-PT can be used and otherwise can be folded easily for transportation.
The small PT scooter will be distributed exclusively by www.fun-components.com for 799,00€ plus
shipping costs. Find more information about ewee-PT at www.ewee-pt.com.

little sister, huh? this would've fit Beiber much better
@skyblaze Really? You're still hung up on that Bieber girl?
@skyblaze
Little sister not in appearance but in price. I check Froogle and the best price I could find for the segway was about ~$6000. http://amzn.to/djaoIN
@skyblaze
Hi I want to buy two. For when we go on holiday. Has anybody bought one? And how do you find it.? Thanks trish
The name of the company fits my reaction to that perfectly.
Germany is known for great design. This is not one of them.
@DefPoet Now that's not very nice. Maybe you would like it better with some android stickers on it?
@DouchePoet
lol stalker....
@DefPoet
Agreed, it makes you look dumb, too, cuz you have to spread your legs. Looks awkward.
@ebloomca there is nothing awkward about having to spread your legs
How did this bastard get manufactured? I wonder (going to imaginationland)
A segway @ the bar drinking with others and a skatebord rolls up and says "hi beautiful let me buy u drink" and segway says "sure"..after 10 they take it onward to motel 6.
Three months later...segway calls skateboard and says "I'm pregnant"..skateboard reacts "I want kids but its too soon but I think we can make it"
Delivery day....skateboard in operating room and says "wtf!!!"
Maury Povich show....skateboard, you are not the father! Audience in uproar,and segway speeds off backstage and collapse on the couch crying and then segway remembers the razorscooter down the street.
Looks like they have quite a bit of 'design work' to do on this model...
@DaHarder I can already imagine how much this thing will hurt once you bump or scrape against all those rivets and sharp edges... Not to mention when your pants get caught in the mechanical parts :)
Deiter just had an orgasm. They should have called this thing the Sprocket.
Remember when Dean Kamen said the segway was going to revolutionize personal transport?
More like revolutionize what control systems engineers build in their spare time. The next 4 videos on my youtube list are "how to build a segway"
okay so it's smaller compared to a segway -- but: please tell me it's a very early prototype or a first working-model...because it's ugly as hell....no design what so ever!
@jmr Which part of
"The idea behind it is pretty simple: file down all the extraneous bits, keep the stuff that keeps you going, and presumably try to sell it to hardy macho types who like the barebones aesthetic. "
did you not understand?
@Bahumbug
there is a difference between let's say minimalism and....ugly
More like the Frankensteinian dwarfed brother...
*Note: Suitable for billiards tables and kitchen floors only.
Segway's anorexic little sister needs to eat more.
@Karate Tortoise I dont think little sister is going to let americans ride her, so she doesnt need to be SUV sized.
Eeeew Pity !!
looks like something German minimalist technopop band Autobahn would ride on stage
Segway vs. Ewee Litigation commencing in 5... 4.... 3.... 2....
@johnvillar Good luck with that in germany
Nice logo by the way ;)
Verr arr zee veels!?!
Need veels to ride down zee sidevalk!
this looks like something I could actually carry on the bus - try that with a segway. who cares about the aesthetics - let's see who's laughing when I blow by you on the sidewalk. Oh wait, is that you laughing?
Seriously - going to buy one.
What they don't tell you is you're hearing the real audio: the device plays that bad music wherever you go. . . .
@jpw
nice leisure suit
folding e-bike would be better - cheaper, you are siding (longer distance), most part standardised, will get over biger holes, curbs etc.
@ThomasK I hear shoes are amazing as well!
The video is funny. It looks like stop motion.
Maybe it was my connection.
Seriously though, not much ground clearance.
One small dip and your stuck.
As ugly as it is, I'd get one over a segway in a heartbeat
This think look like it could chop a limb off if you handle it incorrectly.
ha
I never understood any mode of personal transportation that requires you to stand to use it.
I find standing in one position much more uncomfortable than just walking— well, unless I'm going up a really long steep hill..
Whine about the lack of industrial design, but compare the price points: Segway i2: roughly 5,900 USD, this thing is 800 EUR (something like 1-1,200 USD)... Yea, I could reason with spending THAT kind of money on a toy.
5" wheels for a smooth ride, huh? I wonder how well that self balancing system will work when the ride comes to a sudden halt going over an obstacle in the road: think old-school skateboard with steel wheels.
We Germans sure know our shit.
Not as attractive as the Segway i2, but I guess that's what you give up for the price difference. Also the range on the Ewee is only 8km (5mi) and the Segway it's up to 38km (24mi). With the Ewee you would really be buying a dinky metal toy. Let's see what Ewee comes out with next.
@technologie
if i travelled > 3kms with that thing I'd be scared to get attacked and my segway robbed
I'd like to see off-roading or in grass at least...oh wait...that probably wouldn't work!
photoshop disaster.....
I favor this design over the Segway. I want to make my own!
