T-Mobile's apparent myTouch 3G HD gets spied from the rear
So, how do you feel about the look of this myTouch 3G HD we've been seeing this week? Haven't formed a complete opinion yet? Well, maybe this new shot -- seemingly of said phone's backside -- will help. As we've seen on past models, the rear features a tastefully-sized myTouch logo, lending a dose of credibility to the picture that seems to have been covertly snapped off a monitor where the render was being shown. In other words, we don't have much reason to doubt this thing -- and considering that the Vibrant isn't a member of the myTouch line, T-Mobile's overdue for a refreshed non-QWERTY Android device in that segment of the market. Should be an interesting few months for these guys, no?

Looks kinda nice...
@gmaxx looks like a nexus one
@gmaxx Change the name to myTouch HSPA+ HD and it's sold!
@gmaxx
from the rear.......... ;)
@gmaxx
Yeah it does.. I was kind of expecting (NSFW).
@Nintendoftl
Yep I confirm its the N1 reskinned.
@gmaxx
Engadget has already rated this phone a 7 out of 10 because it's not going to be running iOS 4.
@gmaxx A clandestine shot of the back side....who wants to bet this was taken by a Japanese photographer?
It's like a silver back gorilla.
@BobVeeTech bahahaha I think thats what they should code name it.
Mytouch 3G HD. Is an overkill name.
The vanguard code name is much better
@cwalters74
Windows phone series seven mytouh 3gs HD
@DefPoet Windows phone series seven mytouh 3gs HD2 slide
@DefPoet At least take the "3G" out. That's (finally) pretty much a given at this point.
... that's what she said.
@engadget
That's what she said.
Looks awesome.
Why must Sprint SUCK soo much? *wants to end contract* smh
@CoolAssNerd90 haha what. I'd take an evo over what I have seen so far. Smh
@CoolAssNerd90
Finish college and get a non minimal wage job and you can have Sprint and a unlocked off contract gsm phone with month to month.
@CoolAssNerd90 ah shut up, you got more than enough options with Sprint. EVO here and EPIC coming....
@DefPoet @DefPoet YOU! I've been looking for you. The last time we talked we have a good debate about the Vibrant. Well, after thinking on it and using it again for another long session I bought the Vibrant. My original plan was to sell my N1 and use the cash for that to get the Vibrant. But after our convo and some more consideration, I decided to buy the Vibrant but keep the N1 for the future 3.0 update.
The Vibrant is a great phone, it's better than I expected and spending time with my content on the phone (as opposed to using the phone at Tmob) it really is one of the best smartphones you can buy. There are still some issues I have with it (lack of a user dictionary, lack of custom ringtone support in the contacts, no trackball, no LED notification) but all have been rectified (apps: User dictionary, ringo lite and the virtual arrow keys in Swype) except for one, the LED notification.
I still stand by my point about 2.2 on the Vibrant though...we will truly see what the phone is capable of when it gets that upgrade.
@EliteMonsterHunter Given the nature of OLED screens in general, shouldn't it be possible to duplicate a notification LED on the screen by lighting up a handful of pixels as needed? Since it's not a backlit screen the power draw shouldn't be much different from a conventional LED on the device.
That would be awesome!
@EliteMonsterHunter I don't understand why they make these high-end phones w/out LED notification. Maybe it just seems like a no-brainer to me b/c I'm used to having it on my BlackBerry -- and maybe if I never had it, I wouldn't miss it -- but I would not like to havie a phone that won't tell me at a glance (from across the room) whether I have a missed call/e-mail/etc. Seems so basic.

done have a nice day
@EliteMonsterHunter

that might fix your problem :D also do not sell your nexy
with it you get to try new android builds first and in after a couple months it will be a very desired item ad will command a high price when sold.
Here in Los Angeles T-Mobile is pretty good, I'm hoping that they start to get more high end models that Sprint, Verizon, etc. have gotten. Seems kinda lame considering that t-mobile launched Android with the G1.
Looks like a nexus one...
Looks crappy, and I don't see the comparisons to a nexus one. Is it because it has rounded edges? Wishing Tmobile got the Samsung Epic.
@Kiron Becuase of the central bump for the camera and two tone color I guess.
Don't find it that sexy myself.
Would rather spy other thing from the rear...
Meh.... someone get a spy shot of the Emerald already.
@TareG I'm afraid this thing COULD BE the Emerald, no? (if the "G1 Blaze" is the Vanguard)....
@pavvy
Emerald is a 4.3" qwerty phone... coming out November 9th...
Man... this phone is looking really nice! I might have to sell my vibrant for it.... That is, if it has a dual core processor.
A wee bit to platicy and cheap looking to me.. T-mobile see me when you have a phone for adults... perhaps an aluminum uni-body chassis desire HD??
Ohhh WOW the BACK.... If the camera has flash I just might trade it for the Vibrant
HTC makes mytouch?
@pinktacoyummm The original Mytouch is AKA the HTC Magic.
Grrr... Trying to decide whether I should wait for this or go ahead and buy the Vibrant. Any thoughts?
@chrismiller262 have you seen the spec for this phone? I haven't. Unless this phone has Android 2.2 as standard (considering when it's going to debut) and at least the standard Android spec for 2010 (1ghz CPU, 512mbs RAM) and some kind of mass internal storage, it's no comparison to the Vibrant.
I'd say get the Vibrant. Be sure to load User Dictionary, Ringo Lite, Launcher Pro and PowerStrip on it and transfer Avatar from the SD card to the internal storage. Don't listen to the ignorant, you CAN run Avatar from internal memory.
What's the button opposite of the camera button? Awkward place for a power/lock button.
@tranceformer978 USB connector?
@Sizzmo
Never saw a USB connector that sticks out before. Kinda like a belly button that's an outty.
@tranceformer978 Almost looks like a mini HDMI, it is after all "HD" That would be awesome i'm just saying.
@JohnRunge316
That would be an added plus. But manufacturers/carriers slap HD on their phone and all it does is record videos at 720p. Keeping my fingers crossed it's a mini HDMI and not a really fat kickstand.
now, i am getting pretty sure you are using the word knowing its meaning
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/backside
Back is more sleek than the front... not really a good thing
I'm strongly suspecting this will basically be a T-Mobile variant of the Incredible.
@StalkyTheFish
(By which I mean spec-wise. It will fall into the N1/Desire/Incredible family of HTC phones.)
@StalkyTheFish
I agree, just with a front facing camera.
Which means I will still have to wait for a new phone to upgrade my nexus one.
