YouTube increases clip limit to 15 minutes, Cosby Show VHS rips now available in just 2 clicks

While revenue-sharing "partners" already had longer limits, free YouTube account holders can now enjoy 50 percent more freedom of length than the ten minutes they're used to. We're big fans of the whole less is more attitude -- especially when it comes to documenting screaming goats walking up ladders or ghost riding the whip -- but hey, who are we to judge? And we gotta admit, just like our peanut butter, we prefer our streaming video as chunk-free as possible.

Worse than that was Google removing the 5 star system. This update should be reasonably good in implementation but the track record for recent updates is far less than satisfactory.

save for unlicensed professional media, 15 mins is overkill for the attention span you usually want to devote to amateur videos.

the new bar that won't disappear on the bottom and always takes up a portion of your screen SUCKS ASS.

In fact, I can't think of one positive change that Google has made since purchasing youtube.

Its become more corporate, more money driven, most didn't like the new page layout, they struck down hard with account deletions and copyright infringement without any investigation in obvious 'fair use' circumstances, they took away the five star system and ability to properly preview whether or not the video sucks before selecting it, locking into a channel, and more.

Basically, I can't think of anything they have done except for take away the amateur element of youtube and make it more attractive for big business, license holders, and advertisers.

Why the hell doesn't youtube have linked videos. That are attached to each other and they auto play into each other. Not playlists, those are meant for like 5 or more videos. I mean like 1-3 part videos.

Dude, how can you live like that??? You only have eyes for what's negative!!! Here is some positive thing you are unable notice or be grateful for. You can upload videos in TRUE HD, and even in resolution most of the world can't even play, well over 1080p. Before I hardly used utube because of crapy video quality...

I prefer 10 minutes, it's forced users to make more quality videos. Now they may feel the urge to add bogus material just because they have the more time now. Time wil tell though.

@MoonWalkerCTE Older members of YouTube don't need to worry about these limitations, since their videos aren't limited. That's why some videos are 1 hour long, or more. It's only in newer times, that if someone registered on YouTube, they agreed that their videos wouldn't exceed the time limit of 10 mins. But now that limit is 15 mins, instead of 10. :]
