At this point, we're starting to think that Motorola is intentionally (and cruelly) teasing us with its Droid successor. Today we can add to the
parade of leaks preceding the
Droid 2's debut in the form of the above hard case, which has just landed in Best Buy's storerooms. Before you go off on some conspiracy theory comparing this to the iPhone's Bumper and questioning whether this Droid might
need a jacket, you should be aware that
Rocketfish does similar paraphernalia for the Droid Incredible, marking this out as an entirely
unremarkable run-of-the-mill accessory. Which might be the best news of all, we figure -- if the unexciting peripherals are already being shipped, the handset itself
shouldn't be too far behind.
[Thanks, Justin]
@ok android will never outsell wi
Actually a new car DOES come out every year. I should know. I was one of the fragmented. My car's year was the last one before GM started including OnStar in all their vehicles. Also, in my year it had no bluetooth, and in the next year it did.
Sheesh, a new laptop comes out every week, why buy one now? I've heard this hundreds of times before. It's called do your homework, and take the plunge when you see fit.
@ok android will never outsell wi
Ok you pour 11 year old. Leave the intelligent commentary to the adults. You know the people that actually own cars and know that a new model come out every year
@ashleythehottiest
And can you name an Android phone that is exactly the same as another one. Nope.
Femtroll fail
Not counting the ones that have been discontinued, two Droids--the Droid X and Droid Incredible. When the Droid 2 starts shipping in a couple weeks, it'll be three.
Each of these Droids are different in their own way. I don't see how anybody could say they're all the same. The Droid X is big, the Incredible is compact, and the Droid 2 has a slide-out keyboard. Different models give the consumer choice.
Gotta love that "de" is in the middle of a fully english name for the case
i thought it was funny, well anyhow....
i want 2.2 on my moto Droid NOW....i think i will start just rooting and porting over droid modded ROMs 1month after they go official now adays waiting upwards of 4months is outrageous since they really did nothing to the OS except make the ROM work with a keyboard....
@23542354 If you do choose to root, there are plenty of leaked Droid 2.2 ROMs.
What doesn't droid Do?
@Sk8erMikez
to be a toolish troll:
"droid does YOUR MOM!!!!!1!one1!!"
begin downranking now
They need nicer cases. The iPhone has a huge selection if 3rd party cases. Some made of bamboo, some carbon fiber, etc.
I'm a case whore. I love playing dollies and dressing my phone up for a night on the town. I had like 10 cases for the 3GS
I saw some "rocketfish" best buy brand cases for droid phones and was pretty disappointed
@Awall1987
The difference, of course, is that Android phones don't need a case in order to make phone calls.
@Awall1987
Why pay John Ive. To design a phone when simpleton just put a case in it.
@DrDr Yes it does. "Droid does", remember?
@DrDr God how did I know some crotchy fanboy would try turn a comment about cases into some kind of flame war.
PS the 3GS didn't need cases to make calls, but I wouldn't expect a rabid anti-apple douche to make that distinction.
@DefPoet I don't give a fuck about the design. I give a fuck about the money I spent on the device.
My job is not the best place to be carrying naked gadgets around.
@DrDr But just to be safe, you'd better get one anyway.
This article was not needed
@ashleythehottiest
No YOU'RE not needed.
Cheap plastic case for a cheap plastic phone. HTC EVO baby!
@Mori Very irrelevant, besides the Evo is also made of "cheap" plastic just so you know
@Mr Deux
Oh, so you DID get the joke then, right?
Physical keyboard -booo
If thats the case for the Droid 2 then the phone itself is gonna be monstrous!!!
Rocketfish makes overpriced rebranded gear in horrible blisterpack. Avoid them like the plague they are. Or better still, buy their products and return when you can find a better product for a better price.
How about some Droid Xs first Best Buy?
I want a cookie
sorry folk but i like the keyboard. i need a keyboard actually. fat fingers. i love swype though it doesn't replace a physical keyboard.
Why would anyone put their nice shiny new phone in a case? Maybe they are ashamed to be seen with it? Maybe, just in case there is an antenna issue? They gots to be hiding something!
Alot of people think that the Droid 2 will make the original Droid obsolete. I can not really agree with that. I think that the Droid will have a life similar to the G1. The G1 carried on because regular non-tech people liked it. I think this will be true of the Droid especially if they cut the price.
Plus if the Droid gets updated to 2.2 not even iOS 4 will have anything on it. This article ( http://getyourgadgetsgoing.com/2010/06/10/areas-that-iphone-4-still-crumble-to-android/ ) explains it better then i can. Check it out.
