Keepin' it real fake: TESO LPAD runs 'MeGoo' or 'Andriod' on Moorestown
Chinese company TESO has an unrequited love for all things Apple. Not that it cares, we're sure it's doing just fine on the grey market with its KIRFy Cupertino crafts. But maybe it's time for this Shenzhen cloner to go mainstream with what's purported to be a 9.7-inch tablet running "MeGoo" (a MeeGo typo, certainly) or "Andriod2.2" (that'd be Froyo) OSes on a 14-mm thick LPAD powered by Intel's newest 1.9GHz Z600-series Moorestown processor. Of course, it's a hell of a lot easier to list specs on paper than it is to ship highly spec'd product. And given TESO's inability to correctly copy the names of its choosen operating systems onto a sheet of paper, what hope is there of it cloning the user experience of a class-leading tablet?

MeGoo... rofl.
@roggit
They might as well just call it 'MeGu'
@roggit
I almost shot clue goo all over Joe.
@roggit
And the price wud be?
@roggit
Aka. Personal snot
@roggit I like the idea of calling it Mi-go. If you don't understand why, well I feel sorry for you.
@roggit
They also say Andriod2.2. I'm guessing they're not actually just typos.
So it only comes with a choice of Linoox operating systems? No Wandows or OS OX? Bummer.
@yomachaser
From the picture it looks like the Z515 runs Win7 ...
@Ray W
His joke went clear over your head.
@o TINY o
Sorry.
Hahahahahahahahahaha.
There. I'm going to bed.
I was hoping for Arkanoid personally.
Sorry for posting twice ,but the thought of a poontium chip is stuck in my head now. :)
Andriod?
I could care less if they get the OS loaded right. Build the hardware and give me he option to load my own. Is buy it on heart beat.
Triboot. Meego Android and ubuntu. For a Linux trifecta
@DefPoet webOS is one of the best linux operating systems
Jus sayin
@Nintendoftl
I do totally agree, BUT webos is not opensource it's licence belongs to hp now ;) .
You could however try to hack it to work, but that's more work than putting Ubuntu on it.
I would love webos tablet though, still waiting hp. =]
Maybe the CPU is even fake
@dickmwong
You mean the Intell Morestown processor?
Anyone else wishing it also ran gos4 for all those apps?
They obviously don't even mean the real MeeGo or Android. It will just run some java coded crap like those Nokla N97 KIRFs. No really, they CAN NOT be that stupid to not be able to correctly copy n paste the OS name.
The sad thing about KIRFs is that their customers won't buy something original and cheap from a small upstart company, unless they could pretend to own something more expensive from a better known brand while doing so.
@meepmeep By definition, a KIRF is a physical design clone of something, so this is kind of pointless. There are plenty of people buying cheapo Android tablets that have zero resemblance to an iPad.
@meepmeep
The thing is, some of the KIRFs are made in the same factories as the originals, after-hours and on-the-sly. But I doubt the quality control is the same. I can just imagine a pile of rejected parts getting assembled into the KIRF's we all know and love.
@proppat In some parts of the world, owning something of a certain brand is a status symbol. Sounds ridiculous to us, but lots of people are willing to spend a crapload of money on brand names. And when they can't afford to do that, they turn to KIRFed products to fake it.
any possibility to run xp?
Or as the Chinese like to say:
"You no like, it your fault!"
WTH.
From the promo sheet ( printer output) it looks like they have 1.2GHz Atom Win7 model and 1.9GHz Atom Android/Meego....
These are amusing but none of these unknown companies is going to North America.
HP, ASUS, DELL are going to be the only real tablets.
It even comes with greasy finger prints all over it.
@kabloink
Apple copyrighted smudgy fingerprints. Expect a cease and desist.
Shame it doesn't run Uboonu Netbrook Fremix.
All this time I thought the reason why KIRFs choose product names differing from the real thing by a character or two was to avoid trademark infringement. It turns out it's because they can't spell.
I like how they are so into accurately copying the iPad design that they proudly display the internal tiered aluminum cutout that a buyer wouldn't see, not to mention the dock port, the three speaker holes on the bottom and the squircle on the central button. That's true KIRF dedication. Just need to find someone who can copy English as well as their engineers can replicate design.
I would think they're trying to pull the "Nokia-Nokla" trick with the name. Take "LPAD" and make the "L" lowercase, it becomes, "lPAD". In certain fonts it works.
So....I suppose there will be an OS option for "LOS" (lOS)?
It's really a shame that Apple, Nokia and other companies can't go after the Chinese KIRF companies for crap like this.
anyone knows how much this device can cost and where i can buy one.. all i need is the tablet running android 2.2 @ 1.9ghz
If I had to punch every single ceo's manufacturer of iPad knockoffs, I will have a broken fist. GUARANTEED.
But android and meego are free. What the hell is the point of faking that?
