Samsung SCH-R900 approved by FCC: first US LTE phone is go

We first caught wind of the SCH-R900 after MetroPCS announced that it would be first to carry the Samsung handset when its fledgling LTE network lights up in select markets sometime after the summer. Now the FCC has been kind enough to bless a preproduction R900 with its approval. Not much is known about the dual-mode CDMA / LTE device other than what we can glean off the broad-shouldered image above and certifications for Bluetooth, 802.11b/g WiFi, dual-band 1700 / 1900 LTE and EvDO data. The future: it's what's for breakfast.

You're right that the Evo is old, but not because of why you think. The R900 didn't make it old, just the fact that in our day and age, a phone is obsolete within six months. Ok, so Evo is not quite old yet but it's getting there.

No actually, I can have almost any UI the newer phone has (because I'm cool) so I'm always up-to-date. About that LTE, it will slight your battery throat and kick your babies into the croperate ditch.

Ahh. Where is my epic 4g news? I've been waiting patiently! Please give me something. I was fooled by this post. Anything that says Samsung has me jumping to read. I want the Epic. No release or price yet, WTF!

On a side note, my sprint rep at work says training for employees starts august 4th for the epic 4g. So end of August sounds like a realistic release timeframe. Here's hoping!
