A 2-cell battery? Kinda makes you wonder if they completely missed the attraction of smaller machines? Part of the reason I like the idea of a tablet is that you can carry it around all day, not have to worry about it being too heavy, and not have to worry about the battery dying. I really don't want to buy an iPad, but dammit why do no other manufacturers get it!?!
@cookednoodles Maybe you should rephrase that into: because they have to use a crappy, relatively power-hungry x86 CPU to have it run W7, giving you less perceived performance for more Watts of power.
@drange And, again, the trade off is that you're not using a crippled OS, you have the option of USB devices and SD cards, and you're not limited to the iWorld software experience. While I agree, Windows 7 is a bit of a beast for a tablet (hopefully what we see on tablets is highly optimized and streamlined for the experience), I won't buy a device that I can't do work on. I'm still waiting for the middle ground. I don't need the Windows 7 experience in a tablet, but I sure as hell need more than the iPad experience.
@doyleman7 Yeah a bigger battery would be nice but its a compromise. I have a toshiba netbook, which i didnt know had an extended battery on it. I hate the fact the battery sticks out and doesnt fit inside a standard 10" netbook case.
At least hopefully the battery on this will be replaceable, if thats the case just by a spare. Although it would probably be handy if manufacturers would design a cradle dedicated just to charging batteries. Ive known people in the past who like to have spare batteries, although i dont think i would want to carry one around
@mangoman PS. It wasnt all that long ago that over 3 hours battery life was rare! 5 hours is not that bad because most people on the go will more than likely turn the machine on and off and not be continually using it for a whole day. Sure more would be good but if its designed around an atom processor i suspect its going to be a pretty cheap item which would then be good for getting the tablet concept back out there.

@doyleman7
The iPad has a two cell battery, maybe they just wanted to go with what Apple did and not add too much weight?
@stefcio007
so why is it getting half the battery life?
@bravokiloromeo because It has a higher resolution and faster cpu ?
@cookednoodles

@bravokiloromeo
Because it use a more powerful OS. If you want a productive tablet, you must prepare to compromise.
There is a reason why Apple only put a mobile phone OS into iPad.
@bravokiloromeo
Because manufacturers have shit for brains and don't realize that they're running win7, a full fledged OS. Trim the OS or use a bigger battery
