I don't know why they did not add a Front Facing Camera to the iPad, even though Steve Jobs said it himself that the iPad was in development before the iPhone, its probably because it still doesn't have iOS4 yet, ehh I can care less, I will stick with my Evo video calls...

@pishmish Apple needs Facetime to work on iPod touches for it to succeed. The Wifi only and iPhone to iPhone limits its use.

I'm sure they wanted it to be a major feature of the iPhone before it made it to the iPad. It'll be on the next iPad for sure.
@ai3rocks57 Well I will be sticking with the Galaxy PMP that my local Saturn says will be coming out, slated for September, Will play pretty much everything, drag and drop play. Without the need of special resource killing software to use. Oh and i can get Apps from the Android Market place plus a Microsd slot internal will be 8gb 16gb, and 32gb

Lolwut? FaceTime comes with every iPhone 4, it's not really something that needs to "succeed".

the light sensors are always placed behind the glass, they've never had hole's cutout for them in the past, so i doubt that would suddenly change.

Like I needed another reason to get a new iPod touch, my 2nd gen is dying by the week. As much as I'd love to jump on the Apple hate bandwagon, I use my Touch far to much to imagine life without it.

@Crim Yeah on the same boat as you. My 1gen blew up in the cloud of smoke about half a year ago. I hate apple but there is no competition to the touch. I'm not too fond of the zune hd as it stands and there is no andriod mp3 players.
@JohnnyDiggMe he's saying that he doesn't really like Apple, but he's grown to love his ipod touch because he's used it for so long. I'm not a big fan of Apple but I still have an ipod touch alongside my Droid Incredible.
@WoodyHD yeah, there isn't really anything that can stack up to the ipod touch as of yet. there are a number of smartphones that can do the job, but as a standalone music player, the ipod touch is the best. the zune hd would've been much better if it had a larger app store and if the original zune didn't suck. the only thing i hate is itunes because the program is so bloated.

I on the other hand will never buy an Apple device again. Damn rep told me in January that the iPod Touch I was buying was 3rd gen, low and behold I got screwed over since it was the 8GB version and didn't get the full iOS4 upgrade. My fault for trusting, paid and supposedly fully trained store reps.

I am the same way, I am not a big fan of apple but I am a HUGE fan of jailbreaking. Which is the biggest reason I have the iphone 4 now. I assume there will be a jailbreak for this new touch in due time. Also, as a note, there is a non-phone version of the samsung galaxy S that may be coming out soon (I think this would be a good alternative for the people that absolutely can't stand apple)

The zunehd? the software alone is so much nicer to use than itunes. I wish more people would consider them just because the software is so much nicer.

Agreed. That's what you get for not doing your own research. It's common sense. You can't trust a sales rep, Be it Apple or not.
@Robhimself The software is great. So much better than itunes. The zunehd just doesn't cut it though. The screen isnt big enough for my likes, plus it does lack apps. It needs to be on windows or andriod. Maybe I'll pick a zune hd 2 up and sell my 4g touch if they made some improvements.
@WoodyHD Technically you can get what ever app you want on the Zune HD, you just have to code it or find it.
@JohnnyDiggMe, Its really funny why engadget seems to have so many commenters who hate apple actually. It looks whenever some product becomes prevalent, people tend to start thing some up and coming thing is "cooler", even though the product which they liked is still as likeable as it was...... Not to forget android and other smartphones are almost clones of the iphone; without the iphone, you would be still seeing the basic feature phones with some added capabilities...
Even though iphone 4 is among the best phones available in the market, albeit with a small flaw that its users didnt feel impacted much in real life, the people have started to hate Apple for it -- as if all other phones are without flaws. People are even praising Samsung Galaxy phones which have a simple similar death grip issue, easy to reproduce. Why isnt Samsung offering a case ...??? (i know i know, some people like to mention that its just one finger touch that kills the iphone4, but they dont know that it does not most of the time - and secondly i have never seen people holding phones by one finger!!).. in any case, the free case/bumper with iphone4 solves all the antenna problems if any.... and given that its still among the best, if not the best!

Never heard of Nokia N series, Sony Ericsson P series? Palm treo? HTC phones running windows mobile? Blackberry? Etc.
U call Web browsing, games, multitasking, push email, tethering, maps, media player etc… basic features?
Multitouch and uneducated people like you must be the only features iPhone brings. Don't think they qualified for advanced feature though.
BTW I'm using a 3GS and waiting for the iPod touch 4th gen because I'm skipping the iPhone 4, because I can't wait years to have some "basic features" —like Bluetooth sharing, wifi hotspots, browser, YouTube video or any app loading in the background, drag and drop files, smart dialing, smart notification, led notification etc.— to be added to the iPhone.
I'm going to buy me a capable smartphone to replace this polished basic phone called iPhone and get an iPod touch for my apps. And u sir r going to educate yourself so next time you won't write some nonsense.
@NextGen Now u kno good an well the first gen iphone changed the game...they brought innovation to the phone industry, populating the touchscreen and paving the way for alot of the new phones we see today..Apple made it a standard to have a great media players on phones and still today brings new ideas and standards to the fone game...digital compasses , gyroscopes, and accelerometers are becoming a part of every new fone and guess who brought that to the phone game....Apple. Next year everyone will probably start using "retina display"

I hope you know that retina display is just a fancy name for high res display? I mean Google could have decided to market the high res display on the nexus one, Hawk eye display… retina display is a 300PPI+ res display and if I recall, the late 2009 sidekick had a 300PPi+ display or a retina display if you want, there was also in 2009 a motorola phone with a 300PPI+ display or retina display :-). Apple just decided to market it like it was the first phone with a 300PPi+ display. And that's how apple make money out of uneducated people like u. They make u believe they were first to do it like facetime, copy and paste, MMS, video recording, digital audio player, accelerometers, retina display, threaded msgs, multitasking done in the right way lol and so on… don't believe the hype, do ur homework.
And BTW back in 2007, the Nokia N95 packed more features than the iPhone 1st gen and it had an accelerometer and video calling or Facetime if you want :-). Nope apple wasn't the one which Brought accelerometer to the smartphone industry, apple was and still the one making public anouncement and Ads to highlight those features and I got to say, it works, there are many uneducated people and apple uses the media to educate those people the way they want to generate more money. U can't blame them. Blame it on the uneducated people Who just discover an innovation called retina display lol :-P
Time to sell my iPod Classic. You've been a good companion through tough times Classic, but sorry, technology calls! Oh, it better have the Retina Display or I'll be very, very pissed at Apple.
@oneloveoneworld I was thinking the same thing. I was all set to buy it last year, and then they failed to come out with a camera. There has to be a camera this year, but what about the display. I am kind of doubtful, but I hope they do it. It would create a problem with app compatibility going forward.
Really only a matter of time before FaceTime hits the iPod Touch... they're both wifi only.
