iPhone's App Store 'Try Before You Buy' section isn't exactly what you're hoping for
We love Android's 24-hour app return policy, so when we heard about Apple opening a "Try Before You Buy" section in the App Store, we grabbed the closest iDevice in our proximity to see what exactly was up. Only, it isn't exactly what we expected given the name. Located under Features -> Free on the App Store, the new section serves only to highlight the free / "lite" edition of apps with premium older siblings. A smart and organized section, sure, but the for-pay programs without a demo will still be a risk your iTunes account will have to take. Them's the breaks; might as well add it to your personal iOS 5 wishlist alongside widgets and a new notification system.

Apple products are rarely what they sound like. I have yet to find one that is magical in reality, and the retina display does works with my retina the exact same way as every other display.
Just another reason why Android is better. I doubt Apple will ever have 24 hour refunds though. Apple just likes milking its customers.
That's a great news to see how rivalries fight to take smaller pie as revenue. I guess there is a developer point of view on these cases. One way, android is eliminating all those over night successes by making this move. Apple is not raking that direction. I guess they may come back with a different approach to this.
There is a huge thing about Piracy which falls on the same category. I guess Android took 2 steps together. One by making this 24 hours return, and the second is to implement anti-piracy methods by developers. We can wait and see how good these things help developer community which is eager to make more money.
I hope the 24h return policy bullshit never gets to iOS. Anyone could just buy the game , finish it in a few hours ,play multiplayer for a few hours and then return it and get his money back.
Just in case you're a lamer like me and can't find this option in iTunes:
I couldn't figure out what everyone was talking about—I saw no "Free on the App Store" item—until I tried clicking the iPhone tab instead of the iPad one I normally default to.
As some one who currently owns an android device, and is considering purchasing a iphone 4 (as a secondary biz line, I love my android phone) I do believe it would be great if apple implemented some kind of return policy. 12 hours would work. I've never kept an android app that I didn't like for more than an hour. Most users that buy android apps do pretty much the same thing. I had a palm pre for a while, and purchased my fair share of sh*ty apps and I could return anything! Now that's annoying....
Also, reading the comments isn't always helpful. What I expect out of an app may be different that what other users expect. And it's not like the reviews are super detailed.
I'm gettin sick of those Apple / Android battles, reading comment isn't interesting anymore.
Before, we could grab some good informations or stuff here, not anymore.
It's time to stop this shit ppl. Seriously.
What a stupid token gesture
