Droid 2 mockups land at a Best Buy Mobile store
Boy are we tired of this phone leaking instead of launching.
Update: Two more shots after the break.

Boy am I tired of engadget posting mock-ups instead of launches.
I never understood the point of having that big bar to the right of the keyboard, and under the touch buttons that say verizon. I think that's a waste of space.
@JJS Its called internal electronics that needed more space. A.K.A. antenna, the entire board, if its the same specs as the X, then they need to fit the X in a smaller body. Just because it doesn't have a button on it doesn't mean it has no use.
OOO, PURDY.
Hype sells and as we have seen with the last two Droid branded phones, hype will sell this. (Not saying it is a bad thing, this looks like a great phone, just saying they have done well making a lot of buzz for this phone).
LOL that caption is just awsome. "we are tired o this phone leaking instead of launching."
this is worse then the worst mobile phone secret of all time...
that phone is awesome thou. stuck on straight talk cause Im poor and cant afford a real cell provider :(
No change in form factor=not sold on the D2. Make with the Fascinate already!!! I'd even settle for the Gem at this point...
If this were just a slab without the keyboard it would be my absolute dream phone. So close yet so far away
@nickux
It's not really that thick. The keyboard gives you an extra option. You don't have to use it.
@nickux
That would be the Droid Incredible. As an AT&T customer, I really don't want to hear anyone complaining that Verision doesn't have an Android in the form factor that they are looking for. [please don't read that the wrong way ... it's not meant to sound angry]
@Frogboy Yeah- the Incredible's screen just felt too narrow BUT MAKE NO MISTAKE I am just insane about phones, it's not the fault of the devices they're all pretty great. Likewise, shrink Droid X down to a 4 inch screen, remove the ugly bump on the back and call it a day!
@Frogboy
snapdragon processor is over hyped. motorola uses higher quality texas instruments processors. the 1ghz texas instrument processor will be over clocked way past 1.5ghz in no time. with snapdragon at that voltage you have a unstable microwave.
I want a moto phone with no blur and a 4" screen that's 720x1280. Is that too much to ask?
@durangojim
Yes
Why isn't anyone using stock Android anymore?
@Maxipad It really is sad since i enjoy vanilla android and many other people do, they really start adding the option to completely turn off Sense, Motoblur, and all the other's(not just turning off the launcher i mean completely turning them off)
@Maxipad I'm with you. I HATE Sense UI and Motoblur, they seem to make the phones harder to use and more "buggy."
@njbianco96
i am hoping they will do that with android 3.0
i am hoping google starts to crack down on the hardware guys and allow more openness. imagine if we could buy a phone and load android, webOS, iOS, or WinMobile 7 on it. like what we do with computers these days.
I can't tell this one from the first one.
Why are you so tired of it leaking? you guys are just gonna review it give it a 7 and move on to the next phone.
Looks decent but I still prefer a portrait KB. Moto should resurrect the "Q" line and make them look like that Dell Lightning WP7 slider that leaked out a while back. THAT would get me looking hard at Android...
@nefnet13 So if they bow to all your demands, you will only be *looking hard* at it? All that work for Moto, and you're not even offering the promise of one sale.. I prefer landscape for physical keyboard anyway. When I want to key in portrait, the onscreen keyboard is good enough for thumb typing.
This is how I feel about the Dell Streak. Still, I have nothing to do but wait, so I will. If I were out-of-contract I would so jump all over the Droid X. Last 2 phones were qwerty sliders, so sorta looking forward to a thinner keyboardless phone.
You wouldn't be so tired, if you would stop posting every freakin' little leak. That's something you can learn from BGR.
It's not too hard. You have the power.
another crapplastic android phone
@domsch
Another comment from a stupid imbecile.
Why not consolidate some of that button space and put a nice little d-pad on the left side of the keyboard. Hello emulators.
@oldblue Hello Game Gripper.
@wolfhowl I'd rather not have to carry around a peripheral in order to play an emulator on my phone. A d-pad on the left solves this problem.
That keyboard still does nothing for me, although it's better than the original Droid's. Still calling HTC Supremacy on this front though, specifically Touch Pro 2.
Same ugly crap with a bigger screen. RAZR ftw!
You're tired? I've actually been waiting to buy the thing like a moron
Why is it so ugly?
Those icons remind me a bit of the ZuneHD icons. hmmm.
I like the purple theme
Didn't say that about the 100+ leaked iPhone 4 pics.
Oh my f'n god this is UGLY. Its like watching old people sc43w. Did Moto fire all their industrial designers? If not I want a job there, since clearly a monkey could design a better looking phone. HTC has it ALL over Moto when it comes to design.
whatever Engadget. you guys probaly already have your review unit.
Sounds like you have a kidney stone!
BWAHH! Just come out already! I'm buying one the moment it comes out :D
take 'launching' off the pedestal and come to grips with the new way. Be surprised when something doesn't leak, not when the official announcement seems to take forever to get to.
why is the home button and such always moved around????
With the latest releases don't expect to see this phone anytime soon! Motorola and verizon suck at setting dates!
I have a droid and i only use the Qwerty pad to play emulators... its pretty pointless unless you really like to type.. the D pad is a pain cause it's on the wrong side of the keys. If it was on the left it would be much more functional... but ShapeWriter has pretty much eliminated all need for a physical keyboard.. but I guess it's all on preference...
Personally I'm a little disappointed with the keyboard. It's a step backwards from the lovely 5-row setup of my HTC Touch Pro 2, more like the old HTX Wizard / Cingular 8125 I limped along with for three years. Guess losing the dedicated numbers row might not be the end of the world, but reliability issues aside (on my 3rd TP2 since it was released), the keyboard on TP2 is great... so for me any future QWERTY phone has to measure up against it.
What else is there, really? The future Samsung Galaxy S, or whatever it would be called on Verizon. Will likely be biting the bullet and replacing my TP2 come October... so nice big screen, full keyboard and all the bells and whistles will be required. :-)
should have installed a trackball in the lower corner
