Motorola Flipout makes North American debut with a Rogers exclusive
In another case of Canadians getting things ahead of their southerly neighbors, the Motorola Flipout has made its journey across the Atlantic and settled on Rogers as its first North American carrier. 3-year contractual commitments will be greeted with a lowly C$30 charge for the phone, or if you can't bear the thought of being locked in for so long, you can buy the flipping thing outright for C$375. As a quick reminder, the Flipout runs on Google's Android 2.1 OS, but embellishes things a little with a freshened up variety of the Motoblur UI. If that, together with the "hip to be square" form factor, sounds like your slice of pie, we suggest you head on over to the source link and put those Canadian Dollars to good use.

@deedeedee
$99 is contract price for iPhone. Under contract, the Flipout is only C$30, obviously targeted for the mid-lower end.
That flip thing is going to break, you'll see
@Cainhunpi
And not be able to hold itself upright...
@lol android is so ugly oh you again...
@lol android is so ugly
oh, I so agree with you, thank you for giving me such insight, you're giving such good arguments, how could I ever say you're just a troll ?? I will stop using android right now !!
BAZZZZZINGA,
you've once again fallen for one of my classic pranks.
@lol android is so ugly
No factual statements coming from me but I would be willing to bet more preteen girls went with an iPhone or Blackberry than with any Android phones. Again, totally speculation on my part, just based on what I've seen around.
@lol android is so ugly
You can only annoy and troll with such a username and we need to waste couple of seconds to hit - button
*sigh*
@lol android is so ugly
People might take you seriously if you actually said something that didn't make you look like a complete moron!
@Cainhunpi
This phone is so awkward... don't worry, this is one time we Canadians definitely wish we weren't first or even included...
-_-
@Cainhunpi Motorola is famous for its great hardware, don't be worried
@lol android is so ugly Are you insinuating that is what happened to the Kin target audience?
@Cainhunpi
Why can't Motorola make one good phone instead of ten crappy ones?
@JS
Droid X. Droid 2.
Thank you, come again!
@Cainhunpi looks scarily like the sans-android nokia twist:

@lol android is so ugly
There's more plastic on an iphone than a droid/droid x
@lol android is so ugly Funny cause I recall praises of their great hardware. Mostly metal with the paint finish feel of what is like plastic. Beat hardware out there IMO. So ... gtfo.
@lol android is so ugly
aaaaand your opinion is any better? Get stuffed, trollster

@Cainhunpi
I fucking hate Rogers. After a 17-minute toll free phone call, they sent me a "low balance" reminder, saying I only had 9 cents left. When I log online to see my history, it gave me the same message I've been receiving for a month:
We are currently experiencing problems accessing your account and therefore cannot complete your request at this time. We apologize for this inconvenience. Please try again later.
FUCK ROGERS to hell.
It looks like the offspring on a Kin and Sidekick...
but wait... it's Motorola
@Phuk0ff This phone is a joke. The pics are forged, the screen on this thing is 320x240 and looks like shit. Other than that, it could be a nice phone, lots'o ram and a decent processor. But that screen kills all the fun
You can have your flipout first, I'm happy with my evo, and we got that first. Nah nah nah-nah nah
Well... It's certainly 'Different'.
@DaHarder
When will phone companies learn that phones that open in strange ways aren't cool, they are just annoying ways to diversify product lines.
@DaHarder
Not as different as the Apple RemainCalm.
....or the Kin 2.
@Shalabi the kin was called the kin two cuz there were two and the flipout doesn't resemble the form factor of the kin two at all, i mean maybe the kin one turtle thing but not the pure. But you knew this rite?
Looks kinda square..dunno about you guys but I wouldn't buy this thing
@HellFlyer
I'd buy it just to throw at someone's face - to see what happens to them.
@Professor Hubert J Farnsworth
Minor bruising and a fee phone, oh, and a rare opportunity to knock out the cockmunch throwing phones at them.
Hello Moto!
@ramia
Hell-no Moto!
They can have it...that thing looks terrible!
@Rzarecta777
agreed
@Rzarecta777 I like the Charm way better...
They should have made it a clamshell so it would look just like a Gameboy Advance SP.
Ugly
I had trouble finding the search button.
Finally a d-pad on the left! would be good for gameboy emulation if it wasn't so small
@BubblegumBalloon
That's what she said
Looks kind of interesting, but I have a bad feeling this will end up being Kin-ish. I guess maybe it depends on how they do data charges?
A similar style dumbphone was made by Nokia last year, the 7705 Twist:

I want it! Just kidding It reminds me of a Klondike Bar. Mmmm. I think I'm going to go get a Klondike bar.
And what would I do-oo-oo for that Klondike bar? Um, nothing really.
@JeanMichel Decombe
I was talking about the actual Klondike Bar. I would push Toby down the stairs for the real one, but for THAT one. Nothing.
Eww
Its looks awesome... but how do normal sized people make calls with it?
This phone doesn't look bad at all
Sony Ericsson tried this, it ended up as one of the worst phones ever carried by AT&T for volume of hinge related warrenty calls.
Actually..... i really dig that flipout's form factor. Would've been a hot thing back when flip phones were the best thing since sliced bread, lol, but its 'ehh' now for me. Anyone looking for android w/ a blackberry-esque form factor... your wishes have come true.
There's one other thing that we got before the U.S. health care suckas!
