Apple reportedly in talks to buy Chinese gaming company Handseeing
We don't often hear from the source of an Apple acquisition target before the deal is done, but that's just what's happened in this case -- a VP at Chinese gaming company Handseeing says that it's in talks with Apple about an acquisition and "should have a decision in about one or two months." What could Apple possibly want with the little known company? Your guess is as good as ours, but the company's main product is its JGnet platform for online games -- which, incidentally, is Java-based. Of course, Handseeing is the only party doing any talking at the moment, so it might be wise to wait a bit before drawing too many conclusions.

this is interesting...now the iphone will compete with the DS3 and the PSP??
@serge it already beats PSP in terms of quality/quantity of games, doesn't it? I'd really say it only needs to compete with the DS
@serge
MMORPG grinding will be coming to an iPhone near you!!! LOL! Those games are so addictive though...
@kyleplusitunes you are joking right?
@kyleplusitunes you are joking right?
@BobStewart dang double post.... anyways, have you played the new metal gear solid game? the psp is great and has something that most games need, buttons.
@BobStewart
"You're joking, right?"
That's what I was thinking when I read that the company was named Handseeing.
xD
@kyleplusitunes
Quality? Haha, no.
Quantity? Of course.
@kyleplusitunes dedicated hardware addons is all they need to beat up the PSP
touchscreen controls suck for anything besides tactical/strategy games.
ROFL... Apple and gaming.
@BobStewart I got a psp and an iPhone 4 I'd rather play my iPhone 4 better graphics as of retina display. It's faster and it's not so big so it's easier to hold and carry. More portable also more games and have you played sponger cell conviction on the iPhone that game is dope as fuck.
@BallastatuzX right, and your iphone 4 came out when? this year? wasnt the psp released a few years back (like 3?) and your just now getting better graphics then it?
@serge
Its 3DS! Get it right!
@serge As a wise man said... 'Hand"seeing" is Hand"believing"'
@BobStewart Right there in your example of why the psp is better than the iphone is exactly how the iphone crushed (past tense on purpose) the psp. The psp is home to a handful of wonderful 9/10 games ,but the iphone is home to bazillions of 7-8/10 games.
I will fully grant you the very tippy top of psp releases outshine most stuff on the appstore ,but there are so many good games on iphone anyone can quickly build a huge collection and always find something to play.
I've owned many (read all models) psps and the main problem has always been too few games. In it's whole lifespan the psp has had a few hundred games to sift through compared to tens of thousands on the appstore so the odds of finding a game to suite you are just that much higher. Also appstore games actively patch in new content all the time or iron out bugs for better play. By itself Pocket Gods has had more content upgrades for free than the entire psp/psn add on section. If you want a list of good iphone games I'll write one up.
@serge
Wake up... the iPhone + iPad + iPod touch rule for gaming
now that he's said something, the deal is probably off... he must not understand how Jobs works
@McHoffa I thought the same thing, but I wonder if an olive branch would still be extended due to a cultural/historical context misunderstanding. The Chinese CEO was probably trying to get more publicity for two reasons, 1 to get more gamers and 2 to get a bigger price (due to both more gamers and the possibility of having an extra company bidding). Even if they don't get purchased, this might have been a sound business decision.
so now we get free Chinese games on our iPhones :D
Imagine that game censored with no sexual implications.
Double Rainbow Guy says: "What does this mean!?"
@rmbrown09 Antoine Dodson says it means "You need to hide ya kids hide ya wife"
so now we get free Chinese games on our iPhones :D
There probably is no deal. They are just looking for attencion
@windows4ever
Agreed. This is some no-name game shop with presumably worthless programmers. If Apple would enter the game development market, it would do so with a high-quality, but small, American shop. These guys are just looking for attention. Any company in negotiation with Apple knows to keep their mouth shut.
@windows4ever Exactly. If they really were in talks with Apple, then they've just scuttled that possibility by running their mouths. Of course they're not talking to Apple and probably never will.
They're probably just trying to milk some investors.
@DTJ
Absolutely. A high-quality, but small, American shop. Just like the one where they build their phones and computers. I hear it's in California.
God, why do Chinese people talk so much? If I owned a multi billion dollar corporation, I'd avoid China for no other reason than their mouths.
"Handseeing" what about "eye"hold
iTouch
@einhanderkiller
i(can't)Touch
....the lower left corner.
I'm sorry, I just couldn't hold it back anymore.
@BlazeKing cover your iPhone with a condom. Maybe that helps asshole.
OMG, Apple's not gonna bring the game in the picture to the iPhone, is it?
http://hiexpat.wordpress.com/
When will they launch gamecenter?
Chinese market is too tempting. No company would pass on it.
Make games for their foxconn employees that hate their lives
Apple gonna launch its own game division called Igame
iBox? iStation? iWii.
I'm love playing those web based java games such as 3kingdom, kingory etc.. hope apple bring them to the idevices..
IMO, Apple needs to stop buying things and fix the broken things they have already.
@BlazeKing
What's broken? And why do you buy broken stuff then wait for someone to fix it for you?
@BlazeKing
hahaha... what? when you consider they have 40 bil in cash, ... they hardly do ANYTHING with their money
Written in Java eh? I wonder if they just snagged this to get it before Google lol.
Apple is planning an MMO called World of Jobs.
Apple know as much about gaming as they know about antennas.
Sure psp has better games but iphone has a lot of good games made for it.And ya for some games like SF4 you do need buttons to fully enjoy it but many games like racing games work better on touch screens.Even fps games work better on iphone compared to single stick psps. the best gaming device is the one you always have in your hand.Iphone is always with you unlike the psp.besdies when i am mobile i usually prefer to play games for short bursts --3-10 min and iphone games are better for that.Why would i wanna play an inferoir version of console games when i am mobile .I would rather have a completely different gaming experience.Short quick games that i can enjoy for a 3-5 days and then move on to another game.Psp doesn't offer me this kind kinda gaming experience.iphone does.Sure psp has some quality games like metal gear but that's it.
I love my ps3 and nothin comes close but when i travel i prefer iphone not psp.It's been lying unused for a while now.Would have sold it but once a while a few quality games do come on it---eg.metal gear solid
And why do i see most of negative posts from android users not psp users here?? is it a case of sour grapes??? Afrter all we know you would love to have to iphone games on android device but the only games android gets are junk good for nothin games and then emulators of games from by-gone era which aren't suited for touchscreen.Poor droiders!!!
What if Handseeing just Bluffing, say for stock~
Grasping at straws.
This puts a new "slant" on things.
Hand not have eyeballs so not really "seeing".
