Apple Stores block jailbreakme.com, can't stop the jailbreaking (video)
So we all had a big laugh when people started jailbreaking iPhones inside Apple's stores this week, but inevitably that fun's been ended by the retail spots wising up and banning jailbreakme.com from their WiFi networks. Well, not so fast. A tipster of ours, identifying himself as IT Geek, has gone and busted a demo iPad wide open by using his Nexus One's mobile hotspot capabilities. Yes, jailbreaking has become that easy. See him sticking it to the Best Buy man on video after the break.

1984 all over again, except in reverse. The irony :)
@buoy
Now get that guy to put Android on there, and it'd really be a good laugh.
they did it again!
@buoy
Ingenuity win (by that man).
@etwashoo2 Why are people obsessed with jailbreak, it's ridiculous, it adds no value
@buoy Hey no joke I went to the Apple Store in Frankfurt, Germany to try the jailbreak me on the phones but when I checked all the phones where already jailbroken in the Store one of the workers was even demonstrating several Cydia apps on the phone. So I think the workers actually did it there. Apple workers revolt LOL
@buoy Personally, I don't think Apple or Jobs would be that p*ssed at this. They're geeky technology people - I'm sure they're stood there with a wry smile on their faces thinking 'clever f*ckers'. It's a cat and mouse game and if anything, it only helps to make future security stronger. =)
@That guy 2
You have yet to discover the joy of sbsettings and mywi my friend.
@etwashoo2
You know w/the new specs of the 4, Android would run rather nicely.
@That guy 2 You clearly have no idea what the hell you're talking about.

@Darkroom APPLEFANBOYS welcome to 2010! finally you guys dont need a computer to jailbreak your iphones... oh wow!
DROID DOESSSSSS!
@Picaso4me Back in iPhone OS (When it was still called that) 1.x, one could (and I did) Jailbreak through Jailbreakme.com - Even before Android was born. Your Point?
@Picaso4me
Saying "DROID DOESSSSSSSS" and "APPLEFANBOYS" in the same sentence kinda makes you look like a fanboy.
Just sayin.
*sprays troll be gone*
@Picaso4me
Flame on flamer.
@buoy
yeah i remember that book, it was all about consumerism.
@That guy 2 I'm not obsessed with it. I have an Nokia N900. :)
Iphone.... Pfffft.
@dobba Your logic is flawed. Its far too intelligent to be on Engadget!
@That guy 2 It gets rid of communism.
@Buy Best blocks everything... not Apple, I think it's still not blocked in our local store, then again, nothing is
@buoy
I'm sorry, but Apple protecting their products (which you don't have to use) inside their stores (which you don't have to go in) is nothing like 1984.
@etwashoo2
Put Android on there, and I'll pull out my wallet.
@buoy When I went to my local store and pointed out that one of their iPads were jailbroken, the guy just shrugged his shoulders and informed me that it doesnt matter anyway, because all of the iPads automatically restore overnight anyway
@etwashoo2 That will take a while bro and honestly, I was nervous enough going through this demo...I think I'll pass on putting android on iPAD at Best Buy :)
Hah take that steve
@Noskid7
Its going from a nuisance to a stick in the eye for Apple. Don't be assholes just because you can.
@dysan819
Now you know how Microsoft feels about hacker attacking their OS. It's not like Apple fans brag how Apple products never get viruses and are infallible. This just shows you a simple website can exploit your complete system. What if someone phished you to a site and wiped you iPhone/iPod/iPad? People would freak and Apple would have an overload at the Genius Bar.
@dysan819
Why not? It works for Steve.
@Noskid7
Take that steve for Jailbraking in general, but for jailbraking store display devices, its more like take that store employee that will have to stay at work after hours to restore the idevices back to their factory defaults
@etwashoo2 well the fact that jailbreaking acctually HELPS your idevive, can be restored on itunes, and goes into safe mode if anything happens isnt anything bad.
@Noskid7
Check this out steve gets the boot

@dysan819
Oh man we're so sorry. Guys call the whole thing off. It's just not right to do any thing bad to Apple.
