Mysterious HTC Windows Phone 7 device breaks cover at FCC, swears it was invited
It's one of the most barebones filings we've seen in recent memory, but there's no mistaking that at least one Windows Phone 7 device from HTC is going to make a stateside debut. If we had to guess, we'd say that this is the first official look at whatever phone we spotted late last month, but the only identifying mark anywhere is a PD26100 model number. Based on the test reports, we know for sure that it'll boast Bluetooth, 802.11n WiFi and support for GSM 850 / UMTS I and II, but it's obviously still up in the air as to what carrier this will be headed for. Given AT&T's own proclamation that it's aiming to be the "premiere carrier" for WP7 in the States, we'd reckon that this bugger has a better-than-average chance at sitting quietly beside Apple's iPhone 4 and Samsung's Cetus in due time. Those "holidays" are drawing ever closer, you know?

If the hardware is right, then this phone is a win!
I like the simplicity and design quality of the Asus.
HTC will probably sway me though.
Otherwise it's the Asus or Dell Lightning.
Ballmer is watching with a soft casual stare
@MattsZ While Eric Schmidt is in a corner weeping quietly due to AT&T's lack of Android advertising lol.
Its nice to see HTC getting a lot of high profile devices out across all major (& some regional!) carriers with different OSes. I wish them the best!
@geniusdog254 i want them to sell stock in the US!!!!!!!!!!!!
@geniusdog254 Verizon has enough advertising for the both of them. =D
@MattsZ Sweating as he paces up and down, his blue shirt going dark in huge stains tat spread over his portly frame...
Them fellahs be pushing it hard. Guess that iPhone exclusivity is going away a lot faster than previously predicted.
@spartandre217 sure seems that way, doesn't it? It'd be pretty ironic if VZW became the largest seller of both Android and Iphone in the US.
@durangojim
What a shift THAT would be LOL.
I would really love if the carrier quit f***ing about with different radio technologies and different frequencies and just used the same thing for everything.
LTE @ 700mhz for everyone. Then we'd see a lot more competition, better prices and less carriers f***ing people over.
But then again, they'll probably throw a wrench in that and lock all their phones blah blah blah.
Samsung, how I love your phones
@AlienSix
Until you find a bug that can't be worked around.
In which case the battery on the phone would go through it's lifetime without that bug ever being fixed.
With the iPhone falling off my radar and the Captivate quickly heading there as well, there's a good chance that I'll be getting one of these WP7 launch phones. Do want more info. Should be an exciting few months coming up here.
HTC WP7 please come to Sprint!
@Mamacita
There are HTC WP7 handsets coming to every carrier.
@Mamacita Well if this one is GSM, looks like we'll be waiting longer than ATT or Tmobile.
i bet hackers will install android on it the second day this phone its launched XDDD
I don't know why, but i'm really hyped when it comes to WP7 ... maybe 'cause M$ really made an effort making it..not rushing. And yeah the UI does the part in my hype. So HTC let's see the hardware...and Samsung ^^
yea im with you. my contract is up next year and being a WinMo user now, WP7 has me giddy. it's certainly between that and Android for me with WP7 leading right now. Microsoft has put alot of love and hardwork into this OS.
@SoCoolCurt My contract was up 5 months ago and I've been sitting on a HTC Tilt that is dying... I could get an iPhone from work for free, but I am holding out for WP7 (I'm looking at you Dell Lighting or any other cool WP7 device with a large screen).
@SoCoolCurt exactly... Zune just paved the way for it. Microsoft is a money wanting monster, but when their standing ground start to crumble they get to the work.. they did xbox live right, they did W7 right.. and now WP7.. damn i love competition.
@Effx
exactly. as an avid gamer and Playstation fan, the Xbox 360 really surprised me and showed that MS is capable of being a top competitor in any market they want to be a competitor in. i also have a Zune and in terms of sound quality, it's MUCH better than any iPod i've used. i'm starting to realize how much of a MS fan i am, they make great products.
here's hoping that Dell Lightning makes it to Verizon (i hear it's probably AT&T but that spec sheet is everything i want in a phone)
I love my i4 and Android is always dropping some hotness but I'm actually rather bored by the smartphone market right now. Very excited to see what Microsoft and it's manufacturers bring to the table.
My iPhone contract is up in March, and though I'd love to be rid of AT&T right now, it's pretty exciting that I'll have so many options between Android and WP7 when that time comes. Sure hope we get a cut and paste update by then, because other than that one flaw, I'm leaning towards WP7.
GSM? What Gives? I need the W_Gold already!
It's the HTC EVO WP7
Let me get this straight. You AT&T support Black Berry and Windows phones. but not yet still have any good HTC ANDROID phones? very still disappointed in you.
I'll be waiting just not patiently...lol
If the hardware looks like a desire like the leaked shots last month I sure as hell wont be buying it.
The LG looks fantastic so far, HTC have to get back into making hot phones like they did for windows mobile and started again with the EVO. Their android phones except the EVO have all looked terrible.
htc ftw
