HTC Desire HD spotted in the wild with EVO-like form factor, Android 2.2 on board?
Well, would you look at that -- it's an Android 2.2 handset with a giant screen, HTC watermark and plenty of similarities to (though apparently no front-facing camera like) the EVO 4G. Could this be the 4.3-inch, 1GHz HTC Desire HD? That's what a Hong Kong forum claims, and we've no doubt we'll have pseudo-confirmation at some point soon given how quickly and thoroughly handsets are leaking out these days.

@Indefinite Implosion
indeed, why haven't we got any 4.3 inch devices over here yet?
No ..you'll be so so unhappy a month after its release when the desire 4g comes out..sigh htc buyers remorse
@sylent101 Not a lot of countries have 4G, and standards vary a lot, so I doubt we'll ever see a Desire 4G anytime soon.
@cloud858rk
I know..I was being sarcastic lol
@safe travels HTC HD2 was that size, it is simply a fact that the next one HTC did was a cdma device so of little use in the uk.
Hope that a release in Sweden will come in oct/dec... I need a new phone by then.
@m0rk Why oct/dec? Don't you crave new stuff in November over there in Sweden?
@HPe
I really doubt its coming to the u.s. ivl thinks its gonna be pure Euro which is good because Euro needs super phones pronto.
Phones are getting way too big for me.
@LeJay 4.3" for me is far too big, 4" is the max I'd ever consider in a phone.
Just noticed too they're using an iPhone 4 to photograph it too!
@LeJay
There are plenty of sizes of Android phones 3.2, 3.7, 4.0, 4.3, 5in. I came from an iPhone (3.5in) and while I will admit the size was a lot more pleasant to hold for me (probably on the smaller hands side) when I put it next to my EVO I am amazed I could use a screen that small. I really doubt a 3.2in screen is too big for anyone and if it is then you shouldn't be looking at smart phones.
@LeJay
Oh, so you have that problem... :

@reallynotnick But the Desire HD will potentially have a 4.3" screen not 3.2" :\ He never said 3.2" was too big.
@LeJay
4 - 4.3 is perfect.
@LeJay
Let's be honest, 3.7 - 4.0" Phones hit the perfect sweet spot.
@kharma45
He said "phones" as if all phones were getting to big. I understand this phone is too big for him but I'm just saying there are other choices.
@RhymeMaster yeah, 4" is a lot more useful with the higher resolutions we have now. Retina display is just silly marketing as Apple's software team couldn't figure out a useful way to up-scale their software any other way than 2x. Talking about size. Am I the only one who's amazed of how well they use the front-side real estate for the display on this phone? Even if it is 4.3", it's probably going to be as small, or smaller than a 3.5" phone.
So if it's called Desire HD, does that mean that it'll have a 720p screen?
If it's like the EVO, then they might as well call it Desire XL
@SlimSpaceman my thoughts exactly, HD != larger screen, same res. That thing doesn't looklike it's running 720p (if only) so it should be called XL.
@SlimSpaceman yeah, Desire XL is a better name.
@plwh888 they should drop the desire name alltogerher and market it as something different
@SlimSpaceman
Maybe I merely denotes the fact that it can record in HD as well as output HD to a TV via HDMI. I had the Samsung InstictHD and that's what it was capable of. The screen itself wasn't capable of displaying HD resolutions though.
@thunder18 I guess... but then everything over 640x480 is technically HD so... :)
No lie, it looks pretty nice.
I hope its not 4.3, i think 3.7 is the perfect size.
@appleipad
Ehm, you do know that the normal Desire is 3.7 inch right? Because other than the screen they are the same.
@appleipad
Nope 4.3" is perfect size, the trick it get the bezel as small as possible. HTC do that pretty well too, the top and side bezels look pretty small.
Big thumbs up HTC!
@Indefinite Implosion GSM sim card i hope. wanted EVO but it didn't have this. *sigh*
The apple reflection of the iPhone taking this picture is hilarious!
@Diver
Curses. Beat me to it. Upvoted for hilarity.
@Pkmnrulz240
You beat me to say that @Driver said it first.
Damn, this day isn't going well for me.
@Diver thats hilarious
@Diver Does that mean the iPhone user is lusting this phone or that user chose the iPhone over any previously available phone.
@ktEVO beat me to it dammit lol
This looks gorgeous! Let's hope GSM version for the rest of the world!
That looks like a front facing camera right next to the ear-piece.
@Bal23
No it does not.
@Bal23 It's more than likely the notification LED.
@Tes
Does
@safe travels Dell streak 5" tablet/phone
Nice phone evo is better
@joshstine This is true, but only if your in the States and don't want to use your phone in a non-CDMA country (which frankly is most of them).
I love how they took a picture with a iPhone. Every iPhone wants to be an Android. Lol.
@jokester Nah. It is more like the user preferred to buy an iPhone over any available Android phone. But yeah, it kind of does look like the HTC phone is the center of attention and the iPhone is the onlooker.
I want a phone not a tablet 4" should be the maximum but 3.7" is the best screen size for a phone
3 ways to loook at this.
- Its a Desire with a 4.3" screen.
- Its an EVO with GSM radio.
- Its a HD2 with Android.
I'd like to think of it as a HD2 with Android.
@golfreak12
I say it is an EVO 4G without 4G or a front-facing camera. The button icons are exactly the same as the EVO 4G and everything. There aren't really any good apps for video chat right now (however this will probably change in the future), and the international market doesn't have 4G in most countries. So your losing out on the potential for a good video chat app in the future, but not on 4G.
@golfreak12 its more like a GSM version of a biggified incredible.
Now EU/ASIA can enjoy what us EVO owners have been enjoying.... The BEST phone ever**. (Hopefully that thing up there has a kickstand otherwise this statement will retract like my kickstand.
**=So far
@Genjinaro If it gets released in Canada, people in the NA could use it as well. People in the US could use it on AT&T if they don't like what CDMA has to offer.
