We'd already heard that Samsung's 7-inch Android-based tablet (apparently known as the
Galaxy Tab) would be rolling out sometime in the
third quarter of this year, and it looks like we now also know when it'll be making its official debut. According to South Korea's JoongAng Daily, an unnamed "high-ranking official" at Samsung has confirmed that the device will be officially unveiled at IFA, which kicks off September 3rd in Berlin. No more new details beyond that, unfortunately, but
previous reports have suggested that the device will match its smartphone counterpart with an AMOLED display, and boast some decent specs across the board, including Android 2.2, a 1.2GHz Cortex A8 processor, 16GB of on-board memory, and both WiFi and 3G connectivity.
My VISA card eagerly awaits your arrival Galaxy Tab...
@DaHarder
... Just PLEASE no AT&T associations whatsoever!
Instead, why dont they work on releasing 2.2 for the Galaxy S and release a damn GPS fix!
@ranova
I feel very strongly that a corporation as large/wealthy as Samsung has the resources to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Have Patience...
@DaHarder I have no patience!
@ranova It's coming soon. Engadget posted this info a couple of weeks ago.

@DaHarder
Patience? Whatever. My phone barely works at times. Samsung released a broken product, then took forever to even acknowledge they had anything wrong. Terrible company. Terrible products. Patience my ass. If they want to convince everybody they can play in this field, they need to be all over their mistakes.
@kpgalligan
Froyo isn't necessarily going to fix anything. The problem isn't with the Android version. Its hopefully some driver issue, but considering how bad my phone acts, I think its hardware.
@kpgalligan Well, if it's broken. Why are you wasting our time with your whining? How about going down to the store and get it replaced with a working Galaxy S instead?
and the world just became a better place .
perfect for reading my 3,000 comic books, reading on the pc sucks
@MASE87
Just game me an idea... this is perfect for browsing and reading my D&D books as PDF instead of carrying my whole collection each session!!!
(Note: I'm a proud RPG geek).
@Guimo
So say we all ;)
I agree with the comments that have been left already.
Upgrade your flagship Galaxy S phones before you release a 2.2 Froyo tablet Samsung!!
Don't be afraid of saying "ipad" & "iphone" instead of the much harder to type "certain competing' slates/tablets" & "its much smaller sibling". you'll be ok if you do.
I'm hoping wiimote ime will work on this. It's all about bomberman in the shed
I love my vibrant and cant wait to see what a screen/cpu of that size can do.
@ryn456
That's what she said?
I really can't imagine this having an AMOLED screen. Or a reasonable price tag. Samsung seems to have the 700Z photo frame which has a 7" AMOLED screen and a $300 price tag. That is surprisingly reasonable compared to the Kodak photo frame, but still a lot. Though if they cut back on the margins...
Also, Samsung just can't make enough AMOLED screens. And then they are putting out a device that requires huge screens? Though perhaps they have been stocking up and just deny HTC the screens...
But yes, if it is affordable and has that screen, then I really want one.
The price won't be $200-$300 so y'all can forget about that. Expect it to be the same as the basic iPad at $500 if not a lil extra more. While the Korean company makes nice quality stuff they are also up there in prices like there counterpart japanesse friends Sony. So expect this thing no lower than what apple is offering.
@Texasyoungin
I disagree about that.
SUPER AMOLED????
@brutek SUPER AMOLED!!!!!
@HPe
IT'S OVER 9000!!!!
samsung galaxy stuff is pure awesome!
It can't come soon enough. Android tablets that compete with the iPad are nonexistent. I'd buy one of them.
It's just a bigger android phone!!!!!!
Have fun running apps designed for a 3" screen on something this huge , meanwhile the ipad crew will run apps designed for that specific size.
@Accelerator
I can assure you they will make apps for the tablet
ipad = pwnt
I hope they work on the GPS (if included)!
My phone spontaneously locked & rebooted TWICE today - while in Mt. View, no less. Almost ironic!
