It's not like all those millions of owner/users of current generation iPod Touch players are going to just toss them in the trash because a new comes along, and for those people (or the recipients of their hand-me-down iPods), this will open up even more functionality... rather inexpensively.
@DaHarder Wait, isn't that what apple owners do? They hurdle to the new device every year with promises of rainbows and unicorns, and just throw away their old junk? you know, because they too good for it.
Hey, the only bad thing I see is no 3G web. If I'm not mistaken it makes calls, and texts but no 3G Web? C'mon.
Now you have to buy a case to make calling work. Oh wait..
isnt it easier to just buy an iPhone ???

Not even over seas. Just come up to Canada where they are factory unlocked from the Apple store.
@plwh888 You do realize this plus a last gen ipod touch will cost less than $200, while a used 3GS will cost over $350. This is aimed at current ipod owners, so for them it's an extremely affordable ($50-$80) upgrade.
@plwh888 Well, maybe in the US of A or in Canada, but for example in some latin-american countries e.g. mexico an iPod Touch (8Gb) it's about $250 plus this (probably $70), the total price it's about $320 us dollars, and an iPhone 3G (not even the 3GS) it's about $700 without a contract., so you save $380. so it would be a no brainer in countries where Pre-paid phones are more common.
Easier maybe. Cheaper? HELL NO.
Will it turn my iPhone 4 into a phone too?
In theory, making this work on an iPhone shouldn't be too hard. Then it could potentially do dual sim-cards, simultaneously.. maybe. Could be useful for a lot of business oriented family people.
