Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I finally got a new laptop with a lone USB 3.0 port. I'm now looking at getting a USB 3.0 hub with a power adapter so I can use both of my USB 3.0 hard drives at faster speeds. I've read lots of horror stories where some hubs either don't come with power adapters -- and as a consequence the portable drives don't work with them properly -- or they are designed poorly which results in USB 2.0 speeds. Or, the hard drives keep getting disconnected. Do your readers have any suggestions or experience using USB 3.0 hubs? Thanks!"
Yeah. Android + Gaming = WIN
@Cainhunpi What a stupid mockup. You could of at least used the x10
@Cainhunpi Correction! Sony + Android + Gaming = huge! I might get in on it. Makes sense and the smartest thing Sony has done in a long while.
Is it true?! Can it be?!
@Cainhunpi
Android + Gaming + Phone = WIN
FTFY
@Cainhunpi why did engadget ruin the picture with the captivate though? ITs too sexy to be paired with a PSP
@Cainhunpi I wish they could come up with a way to have the gamepad AND a QWERTY keyboard in the slider, That'd be sick!
@Cainhunpi Yes. This is just completely awesome. 2011 is the year Android truly evolves.
@Cainhunpi Fucking awesome!!
@Cainhunpi
Nexus One + PSP = PSP NO.
Slots in nicely with PSP GO.
@Cainhunpi this is awesome news if the games aren't excusive to Sony. Add in their marketing with Android and suddenly we have a portable gaming unit that easily surpasses and iDevice and the DS/3DS
Sounds too much like the N-Gage I know but Sony and Google could pull it off.
@Cainhunpi THIS IS THE ANSWER TO MY PRAYERS
@tu eres estupido
FTFA - "The device is described as cross between the Samsung Captivate and the PSP Go"
@Cainhunpi
Yep, and I thought sony wanted to get rid of linux! Not on the psp I guess, but this is finally THE replacment for my psp 1000. I wonder what theyre going to do with side loaded apps>:)
@4u2nv they could have used the captivate or droidx internals though. snapdragon is soo last year. hummingbird kicks ass

2008: Android is Born
2009: Android is Known
2010: Android is Great
2011: Android is All
@Cainhunpi
Google Android + Sony Playstation + S/E Phone = Pure Win!
@JONNNathannn
NBD. Just doin' my job.
-Chuck Norris
@Cainhunpi This will be great with SNES Droid, also a PSP/PS3 skin would be good but Stock Android is good too
@statickeith
Slide to left = game controls
Slide to right = QWERTY
Sony = $$$$$$$
@Cainhunpi
Hahaha I had just order a PSP on Amazon (already cancel order) I'm happy I can here now i just need to wait for this. :)
@Cainhunpi Agreed. Another great day for android :).
@Cainhunpi
If they don't use a Samsung Hummingbird processor, they blew it...
@Complex
"instead of the small joystick, the device will have what was described as a "long touch pad"
I re- read the article and among the excitement I didn't notice this part I really not liking this now I hate touch controller hopefully that will change, FPS and other hardcore games need Two joysticks I was hope Sony would get that.
@fpad77
Let's just adopt a "wait and see " approach to this ok guys.
I'm sure it'll be great and all but it remains to see what sorta performance you'll be able to get running a VM as a gaming environment. I'm sure coding 3d with Java isn't fun.
@Plazmic Flame
True, my thoughts exactly ! The Snapdragon has an outdated (by now) GPU - the PowerVR SGX 530, while the Humming bird has a better PowerVR SGX540, capable of pushing many, many more triangles that the 530.
And for a future PS device I wonder if even the SGX540 will do it justice !
@Cainhunpi
It needs a Walkman branding too, if it gets a nice sound quality like Sony walkman player. Count me in.
@Cainhunpi
Sony finally could create a iphone that people want.
@spartandre217 Most of the 3D stuff isn't done on the VM in Android. It's done in either native code (for tight loops) or through OpenGL.
@Ameen
Most android devices don't use the GPU anyway :-|.
The only applications of the GPU's in android devices are in video decoding. Doubt they're used much in android games TBH.
@Complex
Shoulder buttons? How about four shoulder buttons like on the PlayStation controllers instead of the standard two shoulder buttons? I hope this comes with rumble and an accelerometer, too, and I really hope Sony doesn't give us the "rumble will interfere with the motion sensing" like they did with the PS3 controller. And I hope it comes out for Verizon. An LTE version would be uber sweet!
@Shelbz I was thinking the same thing. This would be great for Android if Sony has something that will work on all Android phones. Unfortunately, I don't see sony really jumping on board in that way. I see them having exclusive things but also having access to the "universal" android stuff.
I have always felt like this is the only problem with Android for developers. You can create stuff (particularly basic apps) that will work smoothly on any phone running Android. However, once you start creating better graphics and complex apps, the hardware really makes the difference. So for a typical consumer, they think all Android phones are created equal. Unfortunately that's not the case.
@metafor
So the OpenGL stuff is done outside of the VM. That's great then because I'd hate to see 3d games tryna run on a VM with no GPU support :-\
Would be f***ing painful to watch.
Android doesnt support anything above OpenGL 1.0 fully though! :-|
They're gonna have to add that in 3.0 for this idea to even get off the ground.
@rmbrown09 I don't know if you'd call 25% of the market (and falling) domination.
@Cainhunpi
I think the mockup is great :P
but yeah, this would be on my buy list for sure. Do we have a carrier?
@spartandre217
Take that bit about open gl back,
wasn't included in the android dev documents but they do have openGL 2.0 now.
@donlphi
I believe this was the type of angle that Microsoft was going for with winph7 for standardizing hardware.
@NextGen
Same here! (I can't believe I'm actually thinking about buying a Sony Ericsson phone).
I guess the Tokyo Game Show will be the proper unveiling.
@Plazmic Flame No, they need at least Tegra 2.
@JonnyB
2012: Android is renamed to SkyNet...
This is huge if this is the psphone
@Cainhunpi I smell mobile frag parties during classes...let mobile teabaggin begin!
@rmbrown09 Guess what 2010 = Android leap frogged RIM to No.1 !
@MysticLeviathan
If it's a phone, it will vibrate...but I agree, I would love this on Verizon. Gives me a reason to replace my original Droid
@Cainhunpi
Don't be too happy yet. As with SE previous ventures, not only in Android, they had always manage to pull some specs out at the last moment. Like multi-touch disappearing from the X10i.
My guess is they are either going to make it a non-walkman or non-cybershot, or both. there is a likelihood they might remove the camera altogether.
Now that's SE.
@4u2nv gotta be honest, id like one in xbox as well
@Cainhunpi
Really? Let's take a look... iPhone games.... 80 thousand?
Android games...er...
*sheds a tear...
@naufrago85 That would be the coolest idea ever.
@EggoEspada With Sony's record of delayed launches, more like 2012 and it will launch with Eclair. ;)
@Cainhunpi this is a pure revolution
