@SWGooner I have toyed with the ide of sending it back.
I bought the camera based on many reviews from many sites and they pretty much all rave about it .. but you can look and read all you want until you discover a specific issue then search for help or advice on it .. here is a google search , more than enough people have same issue--->
http://www.google.co.uk/search?source=ig&hl=en&rlz=1G1GGLQ_ENUK332&=&q=canon+7d+sharpness+issue&aq=9&aqi=g10&aql=&oq=canon+7d+sh&gs_rfai=
I don't think it can be fixed with f/w because they have crammed 18 meg onto an aps-c sensor which at that kind of pitch is bound to lead to bleeding and noise i suppose.
As a matter of fact my 450d/XSI shoots much sharper and crisper than my 7D
This site says it all .. about 1.5th the way down the page -->http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/Canon-EOS-7D-Digital-SLR-Camera-Review.aspx
The problem is ,even if i do get a refund .. what do i replace it with .. the 5D mk2 must be imminent for retirement and i have a bag full of canon lenses , so going nikon is out of the question , not seen the specs of the 60d
@o0timbo0o I'm not seeing where they say that the XSi shoots much sharper than the 7D. Something new coming out doesn't immediately render all the other cameras in the world useless. By the time I upgrade in 2 or 3 years, my 40D is still going to be a perfectly capable camera. I'll just be upgrading because I want the new features.
To be fair, I would love for the camera manufacturers to stop upping the resolution and start working on noise. 12-15mpix is as much or more than 99.999% of people would ever need, but lots of people could use extremely low noise and high ISO capabilities.
Cool, I bought my 1200$ 50D just 1 month ago!
Too many Canon bodies, not enough technical differences.
One imagines they can't go over 18 megapix for fear of killing the 7D's chances - unless that camera's days are numbered - and the 550D has the same amount. Both of the existing cameras shoot 1080p, too, so you would guess this had that feature, too. If it uses a new Digic it'll be technically more capable than the 7D, as well.
If they want more cameras to sell, remanufacture the old 5D's 15-megapix, pair it with your latest Digic, leave out scene modes and video and make a budget full-frame camera. It wouldn't steal sales from those who chase numbers, but your clued up Canon user would probably lap it up.
@SWGooner
I see the X4(2ti) body at $600 and the 7D body at $1200. I suppose you can slip a 60D in there at $900.
Metal body, articulating screen. Slower fps than the 7D. Otherwise functionally rather similar to the other two.
Odd thing about the picture: the camera looks awfully small. Tiny. Either that or he has monster thumbs.
@SWGooner Hold a rebel series and a XXD series in your hand and use it for 15 minutes and you'll see that there is a huuuuge difference even though they have the same resolution sensor and can both shoot 1080P.
Also, the 7D has 2 digic 4 processors, so a camera with a single digic 5 won't be better in all ways (specifically frame rate, which is the purpose of multiple processors).
Numbers don't mean everything.
I WANT BUTTONS! Or at least an easy access "delete" button.
I'm trying to figure out how Canon is going to slip the 60D in between the T2i and the 7D.
@Jeff Kibuule 7D has a more advanced focus system than the XXD series and 2 digic 4 processors. That's how there is room to fit a camera between the rebel and the 7D.
@TMoney2007
I dunno. A T2i is $899 and a 7D is $1549. Unless this camera is in the $1199 price range, I'd say it's too close to the price of the 7D to not just go up a step in the performance chain.
@Jeff Kibuule The MSRP on the 7D is $1700 (body only) and the MSRP on the T2i is $800 (body only), so I think there is plenty of room. The 50D debuted at $1399, so I think that they could get away with releasing the 60D at that price level or knock $100 or so off the release price to make the 60D->7D jump more significant.
Basically, I think that there is plenty of differentiation between the 3 lines, so they can figure out the price.
I'm glad Nikon hasn't put these on the higher end models. I would rather have a larger fixed screen then a smaller screen that I might once in a blue moon have the need to swing out.
@darrenmurph Where did you come up the the word "bruited "? It's such a remarkably archaic word I had to ask. Is it in common use among some group of writers you have encountered? Will readers know what it means...or how it's pronounced? I'm not being snide or critical...merely linguistically amazed. I'll be sooo disappointed if it turns out you just needed a word and picked it out of a thesaurus.
