Razer serves up shockingly green Orca headphones, envy comes free
At first glance, you may think you're eying Razer's Carcharias above. And in many ways, the new Orca ($59.99 / €59.99) is exactly like its perceived predecessor, thought two prominent differences set 'em apart. For one, there's no microphone arm on the Orca, so those who like to chat it up while deathmatching should look elsewhere. Secondly, the Orca is green. Really green. It's also designed for on-the-go use, with a shorter, standard braided cable accompanied by a two-meter extension cord. Internally, you'll find 40mm drivers with neodymium magnets, a 15 - 21,000Hz claimed frequency response and a conventional 3.5mm headphone plug. We'd encourage you to look for these later this month, but with a paint job like this, just glancing around aimlessly should do the trick.

@Taller
I'd imagine a hipster would love these. They should be purple, though
@Taller Oh yeah, hipsters would love this. They'd listen to Bitte Orca on their Orca headphones.
@the33dude33 I hate hipsters, and if at any point they try to make gaming/razer indie i will go on a rampage. I had a friend who fell to those hipster bastards, he used to have a steam account now he has a tumblr account.
@ryn456 What the fuck is wrong with tumblr? It is better than myspace, twitter, and facebook. Most people there are artist, porn stars, or technology buffs with the hipsters dominating the top 50 [but only due to their funny picture]. Which brings me to another point, why are you stereotyping people? People are people not stereotypes.
I fall the farthest from the hipster stereotype, more of a mad scientist/smart ass with a random look of grabbing anything I find interesting and not caring about the social standards or rules of society, and I absolutely love these headphones [well not the headphones but the colours] It goes with my electro-orb lamps.
Stop being a bitch and stereotyping people; That is how you destroy individuality. *Puts are Flame Suit*
If I was ever in the market for high-end headphones, why would I buy Razer?
@tonicboy
This totally clashes with my Back to the Future II self-drying jacket. No Way
@tonicboy
you wouldnt. you should buy Sennheiser or Bose. and you def shouldnt buy headphones as ugly as these!
@tonicboy
Precisely... never had anything but problems with Razer.
@tonicboy Because they are in fact *not* high end headphones? At that price, I'd put them at the upper side of *low-end* headphones. Your high end 'phones are going to be Ultimate Ears, Stenheiser, Shure 530's, etc... To me High End = $450+ (and some may argue I'm too cheap for that cut off...)
These are just crap cans with muddy drivers. And probably only one driver per ear at that.
@flosofl You'll never see high end headphones with multiple drivers. And before you say it, earphones/IEMs are not headphones.
@tricheboars
Bose? ... Bose. Friends, don't let friends surf the interwebz drunk.
@tonicboy
The Megalodon is great, it's not as good as my Sennheiser HD650, but damn close, especially considering the price.
@Mr Blue Hurr. Durr. I read on the internet that Bose is crap. It was on the internet so it is true. /mock Bose QuietComfort 15's a fantastic headphones with the best noise canceling available. If you want good sound quality at a price *you* can afford, ear buds are the only option. Start with Koss "The Plug."
@Smurf
What are you a rep for them or something? That stuff on the internet about Bose being crap starting because any audio engineer worth his salt will come out and say that Bose is crap. They've been bashed in a number of periodicals over the years by people who work with stuff for a living, yet people still buy them because they see it on TV and the TV doesn't lie.
@Smurf
Easy Scooter. At no point did I say Bose was crap. I'm just not a fan of the 'Bose' tax imposed on their products. If you have them.. excellent; I'm glad you like them!
Also, how do you know what's in my bank account? smh..
@Smurf
The issue with Bose is not the quality of their products, it's the image they project. Bose wants you to think their merchandise is meant for audiophiles. When, in fact, they are just another "low-end" audio company set on to conquer the masses. Most real high-end "audiophile" products are either custom made or well over priced for any common man. I'm thinking here of the likes of Scarlti, Audio Research, etc. You may enjoy your Bose, good for you. But they are by no means HIGH-END products. Razer is no different. However, Razer aims at the gaming market. These headphones might be for the average gamer who wants the convenience of only having 1 pair of headphones for gaming and walking around with their IPods.
@flosofl I have the chacarias (sp) headphones which are the same as these with out the luminescent paint (and mic). They sound really great. I also have a pair of sishners (sp). They have a lot of bass and the 3d audio is really incredible in game, its not gimmicky at all its truly awesome. I actually think that these are cool, i know they look ridiculous but that's the point. Razer is awesome. I know that because iv had alot of headphones, including sony, bose, and panasonic.
First Razer anything that I really do NOT want O_O
My girlfriend would love these.
Me on the other hand...
Envy leads to hate, hate leads to the Darkside
@Lord Vader doesn't the Rebel Alliance hate you? and they are not on the Darkside not yet at least!
@androidfanboi ...don't get him started on that. He gets all grumpy.
@Lord Vader I'm guessing u gave palpatine the shaft cuz u envied his force lightning?
Take that Colorware! Nothing for you to do here!
Err........ are those AKG K601/K701 just painted green?
They certainly look so..
If they are, the price is a bargain
@TRLKOR No, but they were certainly 'inspired' by them.
@TRLKOR
Yeah I agree with you! Man I thought I was the only one.
Great for hunting with my associates. Too bad there isn't a blaze orange version, because you know how accidents happen.
Look at the colors!
@Diggler
It's hard not to!
I don't understand why a gamer must look like a mantis and buy headphones from companies who don't know anything about sound...
No point without the mic. I don't see Razer as high end audio quality.
At first I thought the title meant hp envy :-(
The average headphone/earphone customer nowadays are probably the most uneducated consumer group. They'll buy anything that is shiny, under $50, and is "compatible with iPhone/iPod"
meant for on the go use? with that colour?
dickhead-phones
I have a Razer Death-Adder mouse, but it's not bright green. These............ are green.
Envy for what? My old headphones?
hi i'm an arsephones
Are these just rebranded AKGs? They look awfully similar - except repulsively green...
Those literally look like they would grow on me.
why so ugly?
It seems as if Razer acquired the rights to the AKG K701/702 design, and then asked themselves, "How can we produce this for less than $10?" Apparently the answer to that question is exorbitant purchases of cheap green plastic pellets.
My Eyes!!!!!!!!!!!!
Buy AKGs at that price point or in-fact almost anything else! (Other than Skullcandy)
Want. ):
What is up with this color choice? Are they betting on people with such outlandish taste in hues that they'll just buy it based on the color? Because that's just... that's just... exactly the kind of person I am.
Green is best! Orks orks orks orks... Orks orks orks orks...
@dingus
I honestly did not know that.(I've pretty much been a canal phone guy since my first iPod) I wonder why that is. Is it the way they are designed? Or is there something intrinsic to cans that dictate only one? Maybe the ones in headphones are large and responsive enough and canal phones need additional drivers to get the same richness in tone due to the scaled down size. Interesting, I'll definitely have to look into some more.
Those are soul-shockingly green
