San Francisco in Verizon's initial 30-market LTE rollout?
We've already heard how Verizon expects to hit the ground running on LTE, starting this November with a launch in 30 markets -- New York, LA, Philadelphia, and so forth. Now it looks like you can add San Francisco to that aggressive list, if Boy Genius Report's leak proves true. Will it beat WiMAX to the region? Your move, Sprint.

@Patlex Honestly i think you should just get the droid 2 or the fascinate cuz like if you get ones of those, by then end of your 2 year contract theyll have phones with better processors so you can enjoy your LTE network better :D this is just my opinion x]
@Patlex
Wait.
@Patlex
Judging from the poor battery life of the EVO 4G and the iPhone 3G, I would wait out LTE till it gets more mature. Get a Fascinate or Droid 2 now.
do you guys think it will be a tiered data plan. Cause that alone will make me go with wimax
@kaboomaboom
Lets see...
It's Verizon...
Of course they are going to have it be on a tiered plan.
@kaboomaboom
VZW...yes
@the bandit *verizon
Why I'm I still on AT&T...
@derekdevine
besause you like fruits and blue is your favorite color.
@Xcharles718 It's 2010, let's grow up a bit.
@derekdevine
ok...blue is still my favorite Color, sprint user
The Jason image is there..... tilt your screen or look at the image from an angle..... I wonder if this is a BGR doing or someone else?
Oh, iPhone that's right.
I guess this is just something I assumed was already going to happen and not a big deal. The San Fran/Oakland/San Jose area is easily in the top 10 most populated markets and Verizon is hitting the top 30, are they not?
Why not make lte bigger all over more regions
Screw LTE! Hey Verizon, when are you going to run FIOS in Boston?
@jrizzo Never. They've already announced that they're ceasing further FiOS rollouts.
Is there a complete list of all the cities that are included in this rollout?
I have an EVO and 4G works awesome in Palo Alto, Santa Clara and San Jose
@theaussiepunk Really? 4G hasn't been working for my friend in San Jose........ I'm calling BS.
@4u2nv
I haven't tested San Jose block by block to see where it works. I have a customer at 1 Almaden and 4G was there last time I checked 2 weeks ago.
@theaussiepunk Erm is that a fact, where exactly would that be? I've been all over the South Bay and the only 4G I've gotten was in Mountain View for like, a minute.
@Valicore
Did you try Stanford? Every time I'm in Palo Alto by Stanford I get 4G
@4u2nv
Test Tool: Speedtest.net, Server: Wichita, KS

3G (4 bars) 89 kbps down, 298kbps up, 391 ms ping. Lat 38, Long -97.
My EVO isn't rooted otherwise I'd send you screen shots.
What difference does it make, if all they're going to have available until some time next year are air cards?
Pittsburgh too, please? :(
So you are telling me those people up there in their butt-less chaps get LTE before Orange County ? As if !
Sprint, move your ass and make with the 4G in the Bay Area already.
Question..
Will existing Verizon phones work on the LTE network? Or will they be bring out phones with new radios?
Thanks
@Stewrt
the existing voice and data networks will be around for a long time, your existing phone will continue to work well for years. You must have a new phone/aircard with an LTE-compatible chip in it to access the new network.
@theaussiepunk
Thanks for the heads up. My simple dumb phone has gotten reduced to almost crap on ATT. I'll suffer a lil longer for the good stuff later.
