@Teslanaut Droid x ? the droid of today The same droid that got eclipsed by the n1 all of two months later? The Htc vision is coming out soon right... ?
@sylent101 I guess no one sees the pattern. When the first Droid was released, made by Motorola, another Droid was released, by HTC, the Eris. And now the pattern or cycle is repeated, Motorola Droid X and the HTC Droid Eris.
I am in no way saying that the devices are crap or low end. I am merely pointing out the repeated pattern.
@Teslanaut I'm definitely biased, as I own an Incredible and have yet to use a Droid X, but how do you figure the Incredible is low(er) end? As far as I know most of the specs are the same except the X obviously has a bigger screen. And when it comes to screen size it's really more of a personal preference, not clear cut high/low end.
@Teslanaut you make absolutely no sense, the Eris & original Droid came out the exact same day the incredable after then the Droid x & Droid 2 what pattern?
@mr88 The Droid X has a faster, more efficient processor. The GPU on the Snapdragon processor is slow than on the TI OMAP core in the X. They both contain Cortex A-8 derivatives, but the OMAP has hada die shrink so it is more efficient.
@B3astofthe3ast I would also much rather have a Dinc then a Droid X. For one Motorola can't learn their lesson with crappy UI's. I know two ppl with Droid X's and both say the phone is slow and most likely because of the UI.
@Air2ground I did not realize that, thank you for explaining it. While the X may have an edge, I would still argue that they are very comparable, and don't think the Incredible could be classified as low-end.
I love how the people here took my comment as saying that the Incredible is crap. Companies/Carriers offer choices. You can go for the higher end, more powerful, more expensive device, in this case, the Droid X. Or the lower end, cheaper, but not as powerful as the big one, Incredible. They were both released around the same time period (like Droid & Eris). Same carrier, same device makers.
I am in NO WAY saying that ANY of these devices are bad or terrible. I am merely pointing out the similar even that happened months ago with the Eris and original Droid.
Again, to reiterate. I am not saying that the Incredible is a low end device. Only pointing out the similar even that happened around 9 months ago with the Eris and Droid.
@Teslanaut Gotcha. It seems that your last post was directed at me, so I'm sorry if I read too far in to that. I couldn't be happier with my Incredible, and I'm sure the other Incredible owners, as well as the X owners, are saying the same thing. :-)
@B3astofthe3ast How do you go about saying the Incredible is a better phone (unless maybe you're a middle aged women with small hands)
Personally, I go by specs. Droid X- bigger screen, same speed processor, different UI that aren't comparable, better graphics, same camera (8mp cam/ 720p video) and MUCH better benchmark test on all tests I've done side by side (quadrant, an3Dbench, neocore, to name a few). I don't see how anyone can classify the Incredible as a better phone, equal on some levels but never better on any as far as I've seen.. except for maybe the color being red, which is cool i guess?
Any specs anyone can think of that gives the Incredible one up on the X?
@bradyw Going strictly by specs I would say you are right. Screen size, however, I think is more of a personal preference, as is the UI. Some people prefer the smaller screen (hey, it's still bigger than the iPhone's) and I know a lot of people prefer Sense over Blur. So while it may not be the best spec-wise it is very close, and the rest is just a matter of opinion. I really like my Incredible but haven't used an X yet so I can't say which I like better for sure.
@bradyw I'd say sense is much better than motocrap, since it actually DOES something other than slow the phone to butthole speed. After playing with an X, the UI disgusted me, so horribly slow and convoluted. they tried way too hard to go with the "droid" theme, while sense does its own look and feel, while also adding some nice functionality and aesthetics.
@B3astofthe3ast So, root the phone (as everyone should IMO for the best experience), rename the "blurhome.apk" to "blurhome.bak" so the phone doesn't recognize the home screen, run Launcher Pro, and you'll never have to worry about it.
Will we see this pattern again? Are device makers & carriers finally on a schedule? One device per maker per carrier a year? No more worrying about another device that will come out quarter year later? A stable release schedule? Less fragmentation?
@bradyw Oh yea, I forgot about the most important part! The incredible has XDAs backing, while the X...has an e-fuse, so you can't do anything fun with it. boo.
You say "the lower end, cheaper, but not as powerful as the big one, Incredible" and "I am not saying that the Incredible is a low end device" in your last post.
@bradyw U got high quadrant scores on your PHONE yay! U want a biscuit or a cookie? What a nerd. Theres no noticeable differences in real world experience unless your a geek that games on his PHONE.
I hate those lame excuses.. you act like our android market is filled with apps that take advantage of that..if your a grown man worried about 3d gaming then.. yeah dont have anything to say about that.
Just because the x can handle games better doesnt necessarily make the incredible slow..
@Teslanaut that's the stupidiest thing I heard today go to sleep dumbass incredible came out first from htc and moto said we gotta make something like that for big red.....droidx
@mr88 X is better and also the EVO. Incredible is a good phone but already out-dated. This is the android market, phones get out-performed quickly. Better androids already coming to top EVO and X lol.
@Teslanaut I like my Incredible a lot. I like it even more with all the things XDA/unrevoked/Hydra Kernels/etc has done to unlock it's true potentiality and custom ability. Could it have a better GPU? Yes. Does it fit the needs of most everyone that buy ones? From what I've seen, also yes.
I've heard a lot of people say that it's rare to see an Incredible in use IRL. That may be true, but whenever I take mine out to use it (surprisingly enough to make or receive a phone call), people either know exactly what it is or they want to know more about it. I consider that to be a sign of success as well.
To be fair though, when I traveled from DC to LA earlier this year (pre-iPhone 4 launch mind you... in fact it was a couple weeks after the iPad launch), I saw no less than 6 people with iPhones/iPod Touches (not including the iTouch I was using, it's great for music and the random game but I would never buy an iPhone as it stands today) on the plane... and that was just the vantage point of my own seat. Once I got to LA it was even crazier. Verizon kind of owns New England so I can understand why I never saw a lot of iPhones up there, but man LA is all about the iPhone (although personally I think it's a status thing for a lot of people... I saw more teenie boppers and middle-aged women with iPhones than the typical male 18 - 40 year old).
@Teslanaut its simple. The manufacturers are competing and will keep out doing each other. When the Inc came out it was arguably the most.powerful phone out there. Due to its production shortage it never got to hold the spotlight. Then Motorola one upped with the X in a sense. HTC will probably blow them out of the water again like they did with the Inc and the cycle will continue. Each phone will be the most powerful phone for a short time until another manufacturer tops it. That's all there is to it really.
@Megazine just exactly how is the Incredible outdated? Just because it came out before the Droid X and Droid 2? It's one of the best phones out right now with specs better than most and very comparable to many of the new ones coming out.
Following the commercial success (and technical disappointment) of the original Wildfire -- which featured a miserly 528MHz CPU and QVGA display -- HTC has returned with the Wildfire S.

Droid Incredible = the Droid Eris of today?
(Moto Droid X is to O.G. Moto Droid as HTC Droid Incredible is to HTC Droid Eris)
Same makers too.
@Teslanaut
What?
@Programmer Ok, if you want me to say it more plainly, Droid Incredible = Low(er) end, Droid X = High(er) end.
@Teslanaut

@Teslanaut quite honestly, I think the incredible is still the best phone on Verizon lineup

@Teslanaut actually the the eris came first then the droid 1

Eris is to the Incredible what the Droid is to the Droid 2.

Ok, similar event happened. And? Now what? What's the relevance?

@Teslanaut
You say "the lower end, cheaper, but not as powerful as the big one, Incredible" and "I am not saying that the Incredible is a low end device" in your last post.
So you ARE in fact calling the DInc "lower end".
@Teslanaut Wow u are an idiot.
@bradyw
U got high quadrant scores on your PHONE yay!
U want a biscuit or a cookie? What a nerd. Theres no noticeable differences in real world experience unless your a geek that games on his PHONE.

@bradyw it's not the size of a VCR? not everybody needs another thing to overcompensate for something else
@mr88 X is better and also the EVO. Incredible is a good phone but already out-dated. This is the android market, phones get out-performed quickly. Better androids already coming to top EVO and X lol.
@Megazine Lol outdated? Really? The Incredible is virtually the same phone as the Evo performance-wise.
Probably useless to respond but:
@HopetonBrown Lower end ≠ Low end.
@4u2nv I fear for you. Truly I do.
@bigboy3 You're telling me to go to sleep? Really? Please take some reading comprehension or whatever the government is calling that skill nowadays.

@Teslanaut......Lower priced?! If I remember right I shelled out the same 200 dollars for my Incredible that the Droid X goes for.
@Megazine just exactly how is the Incredible outdated? Just because it came out before the Droid X and Droid 2? It's one of the best phones out right now with specs better than most and very comparable to many of the new ones coming out.
