LG's 3D office projectors are ready to entertain the staff
If we can distract your sympathies from that rather unfortunately bespectacled product waif for a second, we'd like to tell you about LG's latest 3D projectors for the office. The LG BX327 pumps 3,200 lumens for 1,300,000KRW (about $1,090) while the BX327 scales things back to 2,700 lumens for 1,000,000KRW (about $837). Otherwise, both feature a 2,300:1 contrast, stereo speakers, and a USB jack for sourcing documents, videos, and photos directly off of a USB stick. Unfortunately, LG's not offering much detail here. But you can still imagine the fun you'll have dressing up your luddite executive team in those massive 3D glasses. Oh yes sir, you look magnificent.

3D Powerpoint!!
@wickywills
for some reason, it seems it has been very slow on engadget for the past couple of days...... hm.......
@wickywills I'd imagine it being useful for engineering and medical work at the least. 3D models of mechanical parts and brain scans and whatnot. Game and movie development too. An "office" doesn't have to be limited to just MS Office applications.
Knowing the resolution of the projectors would be nice, but given the price I'm fairly confident it's no more than 720p, possibly as low as 1024x768. Sigh, I wish they'd work on making 1080p 3D projectors and pushing the price down on those :(
@wickywills
3D Projector = Pretty Pricey
3D Glasses X (Amount of People watching) = Very Pricey
@RhymeMaster
...being able to laugh at your manager for wearing stupid glasses = priceless!
@wickywills
i like the smile
@wickywills
LOL
@wickywills
The last thing shown will be 3D "You're Fired!"
Companies that spend for this (and the glasses) deserve to go broke.
I want to get into 3D tech...but I don't want to buy or where the freaken glasses... I wonder what the bulb life in this projector is?
@aznipredroid
You get used to the glasses pretty quick. If you've ever been immersed in a proper Real3D movie at the cinema, you'll know what I mean. You quickly forget they're on your face and really enjoy the 3D effects. Examples such as Avatar, Alice in Wonderland, Step Up 3D & Last Airbender were great in 3D. Unfortunately Toy Story 3D not so much on the 3D front, barely anything there. So it's hit and miss right now but exciting times ahead!
@aznipredroid likely no different than any other DLP projector, wild guess but im guessing this is just a DLP projector with color wheel that's has twice as many color panels and half are polarized one way and the other half polarized the opposite or its a nomal DLP with an additional wheel with polarizers on it
or its just a normal DLP/LCD projector with the ability to drive active shutter glasses
The 1st option is the cheaper option for customers because cheapo polarized glasses like they use in the theaters can be used. option 2 = more profit margin for the makers/resellers of the shutter glasses
@Almo Could one ever get used to wearing two pairs of glasses? Regular prescription glasses and the 3D things on top.... one thinks not.
3D really has to lose those glasses if it's to be widely accepted.
@Almo Films like Alice and Airbender were terrible post-production 3D experiences.
@Almo
And my experience in Avatar was so sub-par that I haven't seen another 3D film since. Stuff at the right depth sometimes, but wasn't at the right depth other times; I'm pretty sure it isn't just me because I have since used shutter glasses at the demo booths in Best Buy on both LCD and plasma screens and was able to see the 3D effect (though there's too much ghosting of bright objects).
I'm certain that glasses-free 3D is viable and I'm waiting to see what manufacturers come up with. There's no good reason I can see that you can't have a screen that's capable of delivering full horizontal resolution to both the left and the right eye, at least as long as it's larger than 44" or so.
I seriously doubt 3D will make that 100+ page powerpoint presentation by accounting more exciting.
@naman They'll probably make them even more annoying, just like the excessive use of animations, transitions and SOUND!
@naman
More than likely anyone who has to sit in on these meetings will get bombarded with even MORE useless graphics and effects, where actual useful information will be even more non existent than before. I hope this stays at a very high price point for years and years to come.
Practical examples of 3D 'office' use?
@Almo
Porn?
Sleeping without boss knowing it because of giant ugly glasses...
@Almo showing the newly designed CAD parts or the latest draft of a building to your boss or costumer… we have some of those at our university for years… its easier for people who are not used to read plans to get the big picture.
Might be time to update your exchange rates.
Right now KRW 1.3 million = $1,094 and KRW 1 million = $842.
@EAC indeed! updated the numbers in the post.
If you tilt your head just right, those glasses kinda look like Oakleys...
Nice.!!!!
Now I can use all 3 dimensions to show my sales colleagues how crap their proposed deals are! To be honest, 1 dimension is usually enough.
Ah more Pagetime with these cute girls, I love these stories......and the tech, don't forget the main reason for the story xD
anybody got the specs like the pixel resolution and what type of inputs it has?
@shreddir
I prefer the specs to that model wearing the glasses....
I'd like to know the res / inputs myself. I'm guessing its 1280x720 resolution.
i love 3d, but it pain my eye...

There are scientific applications where an inexpensive device is needed. For example 3D imaging of molecular structures. A few years ago one of the labs where I worked had to buy a mega-buck Runco projector for just such a purpose. That's all there was at the time.
Forget these 1024x768 resolution office projectors, where are the 1080p home cinema 3D projectors?
Nervous presenters won't have to imagine their audience naked anymore.
Nice, headaches at work too. Watching a movie in 3d is bad enough, but trying to read a powerpoint?
I would be interested in more specs on this, especially at that price range
I'll take the girl.
So it's $1000+ for the projector, then maybe $2000, $3000, $4000 upwards for the required number of 3D shutter glasses just to view some boring 3D Powerpoint presentations. FAIL!!.
3D corporate sex scandal...the next frontier !
3D projector is far better than the TV.
@techlord thats my opinion. i think they are perfectly suited and am not even interested in 3DTV unless it was 100"+. otherwise you are defeating the purpose... which is immersion. the times you want 3D are going to be the same times you want to watch a projector so the 2 are perfectly matched.
another stupid idea in the world of pushing 3D....
when will it stop? in movies it cool because i dont have to pay for 3D glasses for the number of people i invite over or have in my office.
i would NEVER buy that until it doesnt need glasses, HOLDING OUT UNTIL HOLOGRAMS!!! whos with me???
