Hey guess what, Verizon loves Android and Motorola, and the hit-making trio seem to be up to their old tricks with a bevy of new phones spotted by a
Boy Genius Report tipster in Verizon Wireless' systems. The serial numbers and hints of product names help flesh out and clarify a rumor Boy Genius was
peddling a week ago, with the super specced Droid Pro and what looks to be a secondary version of the Droid 2 "World Edition" apparently slated for those international-friendly GSM+CDMA chipsets (like Verizon's
Storm before them), while a third MZ600 "tablet" device is also in the works. Before you get your hopes up, that's probably just VZ's lingo for the slate-style touchphone that was included in BG's earlier rumor, and not some sort of iPad-slaying Android monstrosity. Not that we'd mind being wrong on this front, and there's nothing here to contradict additional rumors we've heard of Android 3.0 tablets being aimed for Q4 on Verizon.
Imagine the iphone users sitting and watching all these hyped android phones being released and their chances for an upgrade is like ... 10 months from now..
Or apple release the new iphone earlier admitting being threatend by android ,
Lets face it apple is out, android and wp7 .. « GAME ON »
They are trying to compete with the iPhone, but they are coming out with all of these Droids. It's like Apple takes time on their phone and comes out with it once a year and Motorola's Droid which is supposed to be the competitor, is coming out with 3 phones a year. Kind of a pathetic strategy to get their numbers up. If you don't know how to tie a knot, tie a lot.
@niZmo its called variety, you should offer choices for a successful market, not just " take it or leave it " models..
Imagine an iphone with qwerty .. i won't buy it, but it will be a choice and many people will consider it.
@mezo9090 Yea you're right, except that all of the Droids have a qwerty keyboard except the Incredible which Moto didn't even make. HTC did. I feel they are making the same product over again with a different name. Their Droid hype will die down and when it does then the Droid Pro will come out and they get there hype once again. Now it has the Pro in there which means it sooo much better right? It probably won't not be to tell you the truth. If it has a 1ghz processor in it they failed. 1Ghz although is fast it will not be the standard in the next year. If that Droid Pro has a 1Ghz processor and 512mb of memory they are just trying to do exactly what I stated. Same product different name, although they might get the "Mega Pixels" up. My cousin and my sister both have a Droid and they complain about the fucking thing all of the time. The thing is cheap, my sister is on her 3rd one.
@niZmo Didn't your sister watch the Vzw ads...the Pre/Pixi is the phone for girls :P
@niZmo
We all know you're full of shit.
@niZmo " same product different name " reminds you of ?
@niZmo the X doesn't have a qwerty smart guy...made by moto
Or it could be that they want to give consumers the choice of a device with a very large screen and no keyboard, a smaller screen with a keyboard, and one in between instead of the one size fits all that Apple provides. I think they know how to tie 3 knots, not just one.
CDMA iPhone is going to have an internal antenna.
I thought there was "no problem" ???
It's going to be very interesting to see how the Android/Apple dynamic plays out a Verizon if the rumors are true about VZW getting the iPhone early next year. I can see Apple doing all it's own advertising, similar to what goes on with AT&T, and VZW still hyping the Droids, just dropping the comparison to the iPhone. That and VZW will come up with something to the affect of "the smartest network for smartphones"
I can't wait for the Droid pro
If the Droid Pro come with LTE and Gingerbread, day one buy for me.
why doesn't motorola make any good phone for other carriers. Instead they give us crap like the cliq, backflip, devour. This to me (IMO) seens a bit like apple to me. They should be more like samsung and what their doing with their galaxy s line.
As long as it doesnt have that "motoblur" on it, its ok with mee :D
@e2icNathan lol its not that bad compared to the se uxi skin :-(
I`m confident Google`s legal team will squash Oracle like the cockroach they are.
If the Droid Pro comes out as a Gingerbread and 4G phone I will stomach the 400+ in fees I have to pay for my ATT family contract to be voided. My parents will each be getting a generic flip phone and I will have the Pro.
What can I say, I pay for their plans, and I'm a bad son.
I assume this droid 2 version will be compatible with European gsm operators?if that's the case i might bite. :)
