Robot sells ice cream, we love him for it
Now, two of our favorite things in the world just so happen to be ice cream and robots. So combining the two could only lead to awesome things, right? Well, that's Yaskawa-kun is: a robot that vends ice cream. And yes, it's super fantastic. Currently working a Tokyo Summerland, Yaskawa-kun has a touchscreen ordering panel, and you can even watch him make your treat for you. While the video below is pretty impressive, this is one thing we just need to see for ourselves.

Just one step away to a sex-bot. Come on Japan, you can do it!
It sounds like GLaDOS and while I might not know Japaneese, that song could be a cover of the song at the end of Portal too..
Ah memories, I remember listening to this song whilst beating hobos to death with a hammer. Halcyon summer nights.
Hey, we've already had this here for a while. In our little town of Mt Pleasant, SC there is an ice cream shop called Discovery Ice Cream that has a robot that makes it just the way you want based on a touch screen system where you select flavors and toppings. Kids love it but it does take a long time to fill an order.
Don't let this come to America -- I think we'd see a lot of impatient fat people pounding on the glass telling it to hurry up.
@nanascho LOL, haha! Or it'll get vandalised if it comes over here to the UK.
Whoever recorded that horrific song ruined video, I hate him for it.
Ohhhhh What is the malted liquor? What gets you drunker quicker? What comes in bottles or in cans? BEER!
On a serious note though, that ice cream looked crap. I'd expect twice as much ice cream in a cone that size.
lol I could not wait for so long for ice cream xDDD
That's just plain stupid..
Also why does the robot that serves me icecream have to look like a human and work like a human and not even provide me the icecream faster than a human could.
@UbbeDall You've got to remember that part of the reason why someone would buy an ice cream here is because it's a robot and not a human, and it's early days.
Answers to my kids when we watched the video:
No, we can't buy one.
It is in Japan, that's too far away to visit.
Yes, he does look happy.
I don't know what he does when he's not working.
Yes, we can have some ice cream now.
Yes, I can move like a robot when I make yours.
No, you have to make the robot noises.
LOL at that. Their vending machines are epic to start with; they sell stuff like turtles and everything. This is awesome.
Yaskawa-kun actually dispenses an appropriate serving size. Americans look at that cone and ask "Where's the rest of my ice cream?!"
Kid's really cramming the syllables in that melody.
Sorry, Once a musician always a musician.
SO ITS BEGINS!
AT FIRST STARTED SELLING ICE CREAM, AND THEN HE PREVAILED WORLD - MATRIX!
that's pretty sweet (no pun intended)
That was the tiniest amount of ice cream i've ever seen! Lame! This is exchanging NOVELTY FOR TASTY. I don't stand for it.
