The iPhone has button taps, telling you the numbers of the pin, but not the sequence.

The Android has a sliding dealio, and just by retracing the smudge with your finger you can unlock the device.

On Froyo you can use PINs or a password.

@APV wrong............. not all android phones just have slide unlock many come with pin entry like every Motorola android since the beginning

@SlntBob My thoughts exactly. And the iPhone, as others have stated, makes the headline irrefutably ridiculous. Engadget needs to stop trying to make the Android fanboys fap - it will lead to more smudges.

Wait a min... I dont use android so i'm not sure. Is this dot thing the only password option you have (for now) on some androids?

I saw this the other day and thought it looked pretty insecure. I mean theres probably all of about 10 common patterns even if you couldnt see the smudge.

also, regarding the iphone pic (or any other password/pin phone), the pin smudges will blend in with the smudges from all the other keyboard use, where the slide pattern does not. The iphone in the pic clearly has smudges ONLY from the pin.
