@mikemanblah Windows Phone 7 is looking better and better, I just need the right device and I just might ditch my Evo but I will let Windows Phone 7 develop a bit first and maybe I will jump ship to WP7
@The Advanced Kind Let's be realistic. The question is "How will this compete with the iPhone?"
This wouldn't be the first time Microsoft (or anybody else) has came out with what appears to be a better product than Apple. That doesn't mean Apple's going anywhere.
And if I may: while I'd love to see this platform take off so I can get a little Zune Pass and Xbox action all in a very interestingly presented UI, I could just as easily see this thing just wilt away, Palm Pre-style.
@ChronoSapien You will have to have a Live account to use these phones. It's easy to make one (and they are free unless you choose a gold subscription for Xbox Live).
That Samsung prototype WP7 device is so god damn responsive. I hope Microsoft knows that their retail devices can be nothing less than this, or they blew it.
@mikemanblah this is awesome for the XBOX owners. anyways the US release seems to be in oct or nov. cant wait that long. getting my epic this month end. woohoo. .
If Microsoft executes this right, they will completely turn the WHOLE cellphone 'game' around and be crowned the new king.
Think about it...
Music-Zune integration Games-Xbox Live integration Phone/UI-Microsoft implementation
I really think if they nail these three, they will be beyond a game changer in the cellphone market. The one more thing that will make this deal secrete will be amazing hardware to put this on.
@The Advanced Kind Ha ha. Spoken like a true one minded geek. How will the iphone compete with a freaking loud ass commercial for a bunch of games on another platform where some are already on the iphone? Yeah, whatever!
@mikemanblah Why did I buy my stupid iphone4 .... Oh well I'll get one after the platform evolves a bit. Chances are they won't be in canada for a while anyways
It's about damn time that Microsoft leverages it's massive IP and realizes that you can INTEGRATE multiple products into a mind-blowing splooge of awesomeness!
Come on, Microsoft. Let's make this one count (and please bring back Courier or some of it's ideas)!
Exactly. I know people have been down on them but when Microsoft focuses they are still the best overall in the software business. Now Windows 7 CE slates are gotten a WHOLE lot more intresting. Now get Windows 7 desktop slates out the door and make Windows 8 desktop scale down better, enhance the touch UI, and developers into Silverligght and WPF. Wow, their future is so bright.
@The Advanced Kind damn, now i'm really wondering, will i actually need a xbox live gold membership to to all the turn based gaming or to even have my avatar. I dont have an xbox, so the whole value of having a gold Rx and having it hit both the console and the phone doesn't apply to me. I usually follow all WP7 news, as well as android....but i dont know if i've heard this addressed yet. It'd be great to have all the features of turned based and multiplayer gaming on the phone. But there's no way it would be worth $50 a year if i dont have, and dont want to get an xbox (i'm a PS3 guy).
@Matt314 According to the press releases I've seen, Canada was one of the 17 countries where the app store will be available in the first wave. If that's the case, I can't imagine Canada would miss out on some WinPho7 goodness under your Xmas trees this year. Also, I know I've seen somewhere that HTC Schubert would be headed for Telus. So while there's no guarantee, I'm going to take a guess that the amount of static about Canada and WinPho7 means you'll get this about the same time we do down here in The States.
@ChronoSapien If you have a Live account, for all intents and purposes, you have an XBox Live Account. I don't have an XBox but I do have an XBox live account. (Will have to create my avatar on the phone) :)
I hope you ban me because you post alot of random bullshit. Not bullshit to you, but guess what...it's bullshit to the real world. The world where people don't recognize the actual bullshit you're selling. Which is total bullshit. Who the fuck gives a shit. I hope you find out who I really am.
@RhymeMaster If the New England Patriots execute this right, they will completely turn the WHOLE football 'game' around and be crowned the new Superbowl Champion.
Think about it...
The Best Offense The Best Defense The Best Coach
I really think if they nail these three, they will be beyond a game changer in the NFL.
@ChronoSapien Microsoft uses the "Microsoft passport" or live ID for every thing (Xbox, Zune, email, msn) so if you do not already have one just create one. the best thing about live is my Xbox friends list is the same as my Zune friends list which is the same as my msn buddy's list. you do not need a Xbox to have a Xbox live gamer tag, any one can go to Xbox.com and make one.
@ChronoSapien Yes. You can create your own profile and GamerTag right from the phone to get started, you dont need an Xbox 360. You can even use to phone to add friends from 360 (if you know people who have one) just by typing in the GamerTags. One of the first things you do on the phone is create a "Live ID"... if you have one already, it will be your starting base for your Avatar and GamerTag.
@simbadogg Xbox Live on the phone will work just as Live does on the PC, and thats FREE. Right now, their is only phone to phone turn based multiplayer, all that is free with a silver account on the phones. Later when they progress to have cross-platform play between phone/PC/Xbox, you will most likely need Gold to do so but, phone to phone will always be free.
During his WWDC keynote, Steve Jobs touted iCloud as a service that will sync many of your Apple devices, for free. Macs, iPhones, iPads, and even Windows computers can synchronize documents, contacts, calendar appointments, and other data.

@mikemanblah
The question is not "how will this compete with the iPhone," but rather, "how will the iPhone compete with this?"
@mikemanblah Windows Phone 7 is looking better and better, I just need the right device and I just might ditch my Evo but I will let Windows Phone 7 develop a bit first and maybe I will jump ship to WP7
@mikemanblah competition is awesome. we all win.
@mikemanblah
All that stuff looks great... but I don't play XBox.
This may be THE phone to have if you're a gamer though...

@mikemanblah The day is not far when people will wonder if iphone can compete with WP7 or Android. This is the beginning of the end of iphone.
@mikemanblah
Omg, what is that first game? I use to have it, but completely forgot what it's called!
@mikemanblah possibly a stupid question, but its been bugging me if you don't have an XBL account can you still access the game HUB?
@mikemanblah I'm in line waiting so I hope it comes out soon :D
@Pearl Jam
Rocket Riot - didn't see the text.
@ChronoSapien You will have to have a Live account to use these phones. It's easy to make one (and they are free unless you choose a gold subscription for Xbox Live).
@mikemanblah
Fable 3 mini-games on the go?
@mikemanblah I still have the razr2 and just waiting on this WP7 to throw away the razr2
@ChronoSapien forget i said anything i just worked it out, i forgot that developers are making games as apps so i can play without the HUB i hope
@mikemanblah
That Samsung prototype WP7 device is so god damn responsive. I hope Microsoft knows that their retail devices can be nothing less than this, or they blew it.
@mikemanblah
This is very powerful people, Halo, Castlevania, Stars Wars, Microsoft is definitely in the right track on this one.
OK Microsoft..... Now you got my attention!
@mikemanblah
this is awesome for the XBOX owners. anyways the US release seems to be in oct or nov. cant wait that long. getting my epic this month end. woohoo. .
You had me at Halo.

You need Xbox Live account, but Xbox Live Silver is free and Microsoft said that that's all that is required.
@mikemanblah WP7 + Dell Lightning = heaven.
@The Advanced Kind
Ha ha. Spoken like a true one minded geek. How will the iphone compete with a freaking loud ass commercial for a bunch of games on another platform where some are already on the iphone? Yeah, whatever!
@mikemanblah Wow, FlightControl is so old I played it when I was a kid.
Anyone notice the "lag" in the last video ?
Anyway, this looks promising. It still haven't launched yet and it's better than Android.
@techapocalypse
No actually, I will WIN over all of you!
@RhymeMaster
Don't forget OFFICE!
@pspitts ...a freaking loud ass...touche hipster...touche.
@Michael Scrip or if you use office, or if you use zune, or if you want a really awesome phone, etc etc
@inket not really better than android 2.2
@cool8man I believe it is only Halo Waypoint, not an actual shooting halo game :(
@The Advanced Kind i want this os on the psp phone!
@mikemanblah Why did I buy my stupid iphone4 .... Oh well I'll get one after the platform evolves a bit. Chances are they won't be in canada for a while anyways
It has Puzzle Quest 2! I friggen love puzzle quest! This has pushed over the edge I am getting Windows Phone 7!!!!
@The Advanced Kind
I'm sure this sentiment has been expressed several times but let me say again.....this is gonna be freaking sweet.
@mikemanblah

@iPhoneOrAndroid
I would love for them to bring Halo Wars to WP7.
@Mike10010100 Yeah you're absolutely right, THERE'S NO OTHER company on earth who can combine that many technology in a phone without getting sued
@The Advanced Kind
Um.. .with about 80,000 game titles and 120 million install base.
Eat it, photocopiers
@The Advanced Kind

Crawl back in your little hole while the rest of the world progresses.

Great! Now we have sony's psp phone vs microsoft's wp7xblphone. Finally a good reason to ditch the iPhone.
