Regional carriers don't often get to brag about their accomplishments. It's even rarer that their services best a handful of wireless industry titans, but Cincinnati Bell's managed to do both with its recent rollout of 4G service. Available to subscribers in the Greater Cincinnati area, the operator's HSPA+ offers download speeds up to 10Mbps -- that's twice as fast as T-Mobile's similar network, as well as 4G from Sprint and AT&T. If you've got an AWS-capable HSPA+ smartphone lying around -- like the HTC Sensation -- now would be the time to unlock it. And don't worry about having a limited service area, the carrier's inked deals with national wireless operators to ensure you cruise the 4G wave even while you roam. To get you hooked on the speedy new service, Cincinnati Bell's offering a limited time 'buy one, get one' for the Huawei Ascend X 4G (say that three times fast). Sure, the Froyo handset may not be the envy of high-end, dual-core Android purists, but its 1GHz Snapdragon processor will do -- until the operator expands its offerings, that is. Celebratory press release after the break.

CINCINNATI, Jul 05, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) --

Cincinnati Bell Inc. (NYSE: CBB) announced today the launch of its 4G wireless network with speeds that are twice as fast as other national wireless companies* and three times faster than its 3G network.

"Every day the people of Greater Cincinnati use wireless phones to share news with friends and family and stream music and video," said Mike Vanderwoude, vice president and general manager of wireless for Cincinnati Bell. "With our new 4G wireless network, they can do all that and more at speeds that are faster than ever."

In conjunction with the launch of its 4G network, Cincinnati Bell also introduced the Huawei Ascend X 4G, a sleek and stylish smartphone that features the Android 2.2 operating system, a 4.1-inch touchscreen display, a 5-megapixel front- and back-facing camera, and a 1-gigahertz processor. The Ascend X 4G from Cincinnati Bell is available with a limited time, buy-one-get-one-free offer for $99 after mail-in rebate and with a two-year equipment agreement and smartphone data plan.

"With our 3G and 4G networks and strong Android, smartphone and tablet product lines, we can provide our customers with access to the cutting-edge wireless technology they crave," explained Vanderwoude, adding that the company plans to add more 4G phones to its line up in the coming months.

Cincinnati Bell's 4G wireless network encompasses Greater Cincinnati and agreements with national wireless companies allow customers to access 4G networks outside of Cincinnati.
